it's not real yet . They are looking for 'fund me money' at this point and I think I'll just suffer a few more years .

It's a nice idea, but it's not operational so far ...............

Interesting. I don't know if I can sleep w/o all that cumbersome shit stuck to my face. :D

Plus they haven't even made a prototype and then there is titration. How does that deal handle that?

I wear one. First few times it sucked. But then you start sleeping like a baby and wake up rested and you pretty much say "fuck it, it's worth it".

I use one, about a year now. I can sleep with or without no problem. I just hate the dry mouth or no dry mouth and the leakage if you roll around. Other than that its no big deal. very mild sleep apnea, but I do snore. It stops that about 90%, unless ive had numerous beers. I can snore right thru it!

I dont see how it could produce the pressure that most users will need.. I have a ResMed 10 with the nasal pillow deelies...Cumbersome as hell. But well worth it. I've gone from
6 or 7 events an hour to under 1...Wearing it is better than choking to death!

Agree on most likely not producing enough pressure. I too have the ResMed 10 AutoSet with the Swift FX Nasal Pillows. I resurrected this thread as I was searching for prior CPAP threads.

My CPAP is set at 7 for pressure and my hematologist seems to think that since this pressure was based on the nose/mouth type mask that the pressure should be higher with the nose pillow type mask use only.

I started seeing a hematologist because my hemoglobin level started going up and one of the causes could be living at altitude which I do not. So, immediately started thinking that the CPAP might not be giving me enough pressure with the nasal pillow type mask in lieu of the full face type.

I started wearing a CPAP about 5 years ago after falling asleep on the freeway and rear ending another vehicle. Luckily no one got hurt. It’s honestly not bad after a few weeks, but it does take some getting use to. I’m kind of afraid to sleep without it now since I have severe apnea. I hope this invention pans out. I know my wife would be happy. A CPAP machine isn’t exactly a panty dropper, lol.

I did the sleep test probably ten years ago.. I’m sure I would have to be retested at some point. I was thinking about just buying a machine and setting it at Medium and going from there. I think they are only three or four hundred bucks now?

I have had a cpap for years. I use it so much I wore out the bearings on one . Replaced for free. There free if you have Kaiser and have all kinds of different masks to fit your comfort. The newer ones are even quieter. Sounds like light white noise . Wife loves it no more snoring .

We go tent camping when we go dirt bike riding. I have a blue top optima battery on my flatbed trailer that is dedicated to my CPAP. I have a DC adapter for my machine and a 20’ DC chord that I run from the battery to my tent. I can easily go three or four nights on it without recharging and I’m sure a few more than that. Best investment right there. You can even charge your phones at the same time!

I have the same CPAP (ResMed 10 AutoSet). Isn't it set so the air pressure is variable? I wasn't going into REM so the Tech couldn't dial my CPAP pressure in, so the doctor made sure to prescribe me an Auto CPAP. The doctor set it with a range between 5 to 12 which is controlled through an algorithm. I use to look at my average pressure in the morning and every day it was different. So in my opinion the machines that only have one pressure probably don't work the best. One of my best friends could not get use to his CPAP so I told him to get an Auto PAP and sure enough he now does much better on it.

What is interesting is that before I knew I had Sleep Apnea my Red Blood Cells kept increasing in fact they were Red Flagged. But none of the doctors even told me that I had high Red Blood Cells. A year later I after I found out I had Sleep Apnea I pulled at least 2 years of blood test and they were all red flagged.

I added a solar panel, 2 golf cart batteries and a separate invertor to our toyhauler. It's probably overkill but my also wife sleeps with a fan on for the white noise. We do a lot of dry camping and I'm confident it would go at least 7 nights without a charge.

I've had an Airsense 10 ResMed since Dec 2016 . Snored (like a freight trail) since 10 years old (when I was skinny) Started getting headaches that woke me up, and some lasted all day (around 2014) .

Took a second "sleep test" and found out the first test was bogus . I stopped breathing 113 times an hour during the second test .

They started my machine on 16 , and I could not keep it on my face . It "hovered" with all the pressure inside, even during inhaling .

About 45 days later I insisted they lower the pressure, and they did to 14 (big deal) . It's still hard to keep it on and I get about 5-6 hours of continuous sleep, and then maybe 2-3 more of "air leaking sleep" time .

The headaches stopped once I got the 'air leaks down', and so I now "live with a squid on my face", living being the whole point .

I have some other "medical problems", but my doctor (Dr. Berdin) here in Havasu told me that the "headaches" were a lack of oxygen and I was lucky that I had not had a stroke .

This sleep apnea is no joke ............

I have sleep apnea as well. The CPAP machine has been in my closet for years. Can't sleep with it on. Has anyone tried this Winx deal?

I had a standard CPAP, then switched insurance and doctors and was set up with AutoPAP. I highly recommend this, it’s easier to fall asleep, and learns your breathing rhythm and syncs pressure to it. It’s so much more comfortable. I’m still experimenting with headgear. Started with nasal pillows, have Fisher&Paykel nose mask now. Works good when new, but they get soft and collapse, necessitating tightening the straps until they become uncomfortable.

It’s amazing how much better your thought process is when you get a decent nights sleep. Between this and drinking more water it’s amazing how much more energy I have in the afternoon.

I’m pretty sold, I’m going to look into this in the next couple weeks.

Mine is not set to variable and set to a constant pressure of 7. I am now trying to get my doctor to change the prescription to variable. I have checked all the lab results since last week and they all seem normal except my hemoglobin is still high. I firmly believe that it is due to my CPAP not being set correctly and causing my body to think I live at high altitude.

I had my study well over a year ago, something like 50+ episodes an hour so I was deemed severe. I didn't follow through with my cpap order for months. Finally did after about 7 or 8 months, then of course I let it sit for a month or so and did nothing. But now that I have, I can see why I did it. I seriously slept 8+ hours the very first few nights with it on all night, it was pretty crazy since all you hear is how hard it is to get used to. its been 3 weeks now and I consistently get 6-8 hours without getting up even to pee. I will say that after the first few nights I went through the struggle of adjusting the humidity and sinus issues but I've got it pretty dialed in now. And traveling with it for work hasn't been bad. I have the Resmed 10, set to humidity of 5, its an Auto set 7-13 and I use the nasal pillows. I think they key too was trying all the different sizes of pillows to find the best fit, and don't tighten the straps too tight.

Have a machine for something like 5 years now. When I was tested they sent me home after about 3 hours and said they had enough information. Truth is I'm like the poster child of sleep apnea. I stopped breathing like 100 times in an hour during the test. That is why they sent home, they didn't want me to kick on their time. Next day the doctor wanted me to come into the office ASAP. Go see the doc and just kidding with him I say " So am I the poster child for sleep apnea?" LOL! He says "Yea your one of the worst we've ever seen." They set me up with a machine and been using it ever since. So for me I HAVE TO USE IT. Got that in my head. Life is better with it. I feel I have more energy and not dosing off just sitting in the chair. It can kill you!!! If you think you might have it, get tested!!! Your family will be glad you did.

Honest question-I have never been checked out- can exercise, good diet and limited alcohol intake somewhat reduce sleep issues?

I only ask because I notice when I work out daily, eat good meals (no fast food or eating out) and only drink on the weekends I sleep way better. I feel more energized, etc... Just curious.

Amazing to see and hear how many people use a CPAP machine to sleep. Quite a few people on here, many at work and a few family members use one.

I'm waiting to hear from my Pulmonologist (asthma) doctor to see about setting mine to variable pressure instead of the constant 7

Exercise, and diet sure help with me.
I feel better and way more energized when working out 5 or 6 times a week, and wifey will confirm I snore far less too.

Best tip I ever got with cpap was to wear it while watching tv for a few hours before trying to sleep with it. This way you get used to breathing with it with your focus on something else. That will help you sleep with it so you only have to worry about all that crap on your face and not have to worry about adjusting your breathing.

I have had a C-Pap for over 10 years. Wore the bearings out on one machine. The new machine I have has adjustable pressure to what my needs are. It is my best friend and I use it every night, travel with it and even use it if I take a nap.

Yes.
In my case it was all related to gluten/celiac disease.

http://curemysleepapnea.com/gluten-allergy-obstructive-sleep-apnea/

I stopped snoring, sleep apnea went away, within days of cutting gluten.

Everyone is different, but late-developing celiac (gluten intolerant autoimmune disease) is a thing. And life-changing for the better if diagnosed and treated.

Alcohol can definitely make apnea much worse.

These work very well!

A good sinus rinse once in awhile, Ocean spray daily, and night eye drops really help if air is leaking into the eyes (all cause headaches) really help with cpap!

Got a 5 year broke machine, going in for another sleep study soon as you need a prescription with settings to get a new machine.

Resmed 10 variable for me. Pressure min is 4 max is 9. Humidity at about 3 at home and 5 in havasu.
You can adjust yourself or Dr can via remotely online. It actually has a cell number.
I up the pressure on heavy beer nights!

I really don't understand (except for insurance) why we have to have prescriptions with the new auto cpaps that they have these days. BTW...have you ever used this mask Respironics DreamWear Gel Pillow CPAP Mask?

I am pretty sure you can change it. I don't know if your doctor would like that. I will see if I can find the video on how to change it.

It's a sequence of button holds. On mine I press and hold 2 buttons for about 3 seconds. It lets me in the secret Dr section. It's like the home button and power button. Something like that
