Sanuk beer can coozie slaps. I'm like you, love my flip flops. By far the beer can coozie slaps are the most comfortable pair I have EVER owned. I have owned a lot of different manufacturers like you have as well...

BTW, if you got to the Rainbow store in San Clemente they are about $15 cheaper...

I love my Reefs but they don't last. I go through almost 2 pairs a year. During the summer all I where is them except for when I go to work.

I'm happy with the Skechers wifey buys.

On another note, I was given a reaaaaall nice pair of flops by a friend for my BD one year. Only problem was they stained my feet pitch black, I'm talking tar black.

I left them out on the deck when we left one trip and some loser dumbfluck STOLE them.:p:champagne::D

Reefs are comfortable for a little while.....There build quality sucks and they don't like the extreme heat.(I have had 2 pairs fall apart over a long hot weekend)

My rainbows sucked for the first 6 months but are now comfortable....I like there warranty

I might try a pair of the vans and Bmac recomemded flippys.

So those of you that have wore rainbows, how many of you done the slip out in them when the tread wears off? I was at a bar one time and did an atomic knee plant cause my bows slipped on a wet surface. my knee hurt for weeks.

The most comfy pair I ever owned were from Vulcom(sp). They only lasted a year or a tad longer but man they were great. I have quite a few pairs and they all seem good but they all have lil things that bother me. Tell ya this, I don't wear black sandals unless they have tan wear your foot sits, hate black shit all over my feet.

Wearin DC's right now as I leave for the river!!LOL

I love my Reef's as well, but yes they don't last, I wear them full time, and basically buy a pair every other month. For those formal occasions, go with Sanuks, kind of like sandals but shoes. Completely awful looking but so comfortable.

The bottom of my rainbows are like drag slicks... I have been slipping and sliding all over the place, hence the reason why I finally decided to bite the bullet.

Sanuks are great until they get wet then it's like walking with sponges under your feet.
I went with rainbows this time because they are made here in the USA.

Try alphabet blocks...they'll make ya taller :skull

Another vote for Sanuks.
But I also have a pair of Cobians, not as soft as the Sanuks but more support.
I buy them all from EBay...I refuse to spend $25+ for flip flops.

Rainbow Sandals - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I usually ask for a pair of Rainbow's every other Christmas. Last pair I got fealt like shit, took a look & sure enough - outsourced to China. They feel OK now that they're broken in, but won't be going back, need to find a new brand also.

I have every pair of rainbow sandals I have ever purchased starting with the first pair I bought at the original store in San Clemente in 1979. I feel somewhat compelled to share my thoughts on this topic.

You wear the same sandal (the same pair for that matter) for ten years and all of a sudden you are going to try a johnny come lately ... while I can see you said you did try on a new pair of rainbows and felt the quality has changed - I would suggest you reconsider!

Rainbow has over the years had their sandal made local in SC or made in Mexico - there is a difference between the two and they do make changes from time to time - ie diff glue or the rubber on the sole has been diff etc. I find that the ones made in Mex fit a little tighter and go through a longer break in period.

But before you go and do some thing stupid like buy a reef or some other sandal made a by a company that came into the sandal market as a line extension of their brand I would go to the store in SC and tell them what you think (you might even find the give you a pair for free- as I saw done once when I was there)

Some other things to consider are when you say the quality is not the same - you are comparing to a sandal that you first put on your feet 10 years ago - there in no way you can recall what that felt like when you put that on vs the one you just tried on. Also keep in mind that Rainbow has a lifetime warranty on their sandal - if a thread comes loose they will give you a new pair, if you step on a pop top and blow out your flip flop they will give you a new pair - how can you questions the quality when you can have them replaced for life!

I ask you before you go off the reservation - please reconsider what you are saying and thinking of doing... Rainbows are part of Southern California and river culture...

Are you really going to be the guy that decides after all this time to go a different direction now?

Sh*t, you are right about rainbows not being made here anymore. I could have swore mine had the made in USA tag on them.

My Black Sanuk flip flops REALLY dry the soles of my feet out. I mean over the course of a couple days the soles of my feet are cracking. Looking to get another brand that does not dry out my feet.

LOL. I have had probably 20 pairs over the years. My go to pair were my OG black ones. Over the years they have all been stolen, given away, lost, etc.. My last 2 pairs I bought literally started falling apart within 2 months of buying them. Those were the China versions. I dont have the time to drive to SC to have them give me a new pair. so I just go out and buy a new pair. As much as I love rainbows the new junk they have in stores now is not like the older stuff.

I wear reefs pretty much exclusively.. They last 2-4 months, but as you know others might say they wear them everyday.. I actually wear them everyday. LOL After about 2 months the squishy goes away, and I get a new pair..

I consider myself an expert in the sandle field. I wear flip flops around 340 days a year, at home and work. The one limitation I have is I wear size 15, so if the company dosen't make a big foot version I don't know about it.

If your going with the leather, Rainbow is the best even with the long break in period. I havn't got any in a few years. I tried the Sanuk this year (I had a free pair coupon) I like them but I only wear the leather version on special occations.

The rubber version, Rainbows are OK, however I like more arch support. I can't believe no one has mentioned Scott Hawaii. They are the best IMO. Good support, I've never pulled the strap out, I always wear though the soul first. They are price very well, I order from the factory in Hawaii so I'm not sure what the store price is.

...10 years on a pair of flip flops!?!? WOW.

DVS Peso flips are very comfortable...they wear out quickly but they're cheap. I buy them out in my size when I find them. I also just bought a pair of Fox brand flips when I was in Miami and they aren't as comfortable, but they seem pretty durable.

Here's a link to the DVS shoes: http://www.dvsshoes.com/Details/64/FOOTWEAR/SNDLS-MENS?p=399

...You can also find them (sometimes) at the Utility board shop in Havi.

I don't consider my flops an investment so not looking to get 10 yrs out of a pair. Reefs are my choice. They are comfortable from the second you put them on and usually last long enough until I want a new pair. I do have a pair of rainbows but hardly ever wear them. There are my "dress" flops reserved for special occasions like weddings and interviews.:champagne:

Rainbow for sure. Break in period sucks, but once bronken in they feel great. I've had my current pair for about 5 years (only wear em in the summer).

Only the second pair i've owned. Probably would still have the first pair except they went down with my boat and only one flippy surfaced.

You'll be dissapointed when you go back for your next pair :thumbsdown.

What I don't like about the new ones is the piece between the toes, used to be leather, now it's some fabric. Just generally cheap feeling when new, but they do still break in well.

I had a few pairs of Quiksilvers back in the day that were the best ever. Of course they stopped making them.

I have a bunch of Reefs, but there not that comfortable to me. I'm supprised no one has mentioned Flojos. I've had a few pairs of those and they are pretty damn comfy!

Last summer I accidentally left my Rainbows in my storage unit... so I picked up a cheap ($19) pair of Jimmy Buffett (Margaritaville) flip flops at DSW. Ends up they have lasted a whole year and still going strong! And they are comfortable!

Quoted for possible future use. :D

Better add that one too!!!

Seriously, you guys are a trip. Not a one of you guys have Tiva's?? Yes, they are expensive. Yes, they are worth it!! I've had my first pair for the past NINE years, and they are still in no need of replacement. They do NOT slip, and you can wear em every day.

No they are not filp flops, but you wont slip and fall on your ass or knees either!!!

These are the one's i have. Yes, you can thank me later.
