Just a little set back.

Not a fan of towing either.

Have a nice time on the water

I'm guessing before you purchased it you didn't check tire dates and condition?

So many people try and run tires for 6 plus years.

bummer...Trailer tires seem to only last 3 years anymore. :thumbsdown

Last time I needed some was just past 29 palms. Had to double back to Big O tires there.
I've tried Maxxis, Towmasters, Carlyles, you name it they are all junk.

I have had great performance out of the Maxxis. I only tow 60-65. 70-75 when passing.

I think they are better now than they used to be.

We were on the way back from Laughlin on River rd. a few years back and one of the Maxxis developed a large bubble on the sidewall.
Had to go to Ft. Mohave and get them all replaced. Luckily we weren't in the middle of nowhere.
I don't go much over 65 when towing either. But my sled is really heavy and the rears get scrubbed pretty hard.

Just put new tires on the boat Tuesday. Regardless of tread condition it seems 3 years is max life.

Still owe you a beer for the time back in 2015 you helped me when my trailer decided to eat a bearing when I was rolling through Anaheim. I was stranded and you found me a shop

Going on 2 years with my new set... knock on wood, but so far so good with this group of Carlyles. No more towing through the desert too... boat is stored in Parker.

That is what Carlisle recommends

The life expectancy of a trailer tire varies from manufacturer to manufacturer; however, most are between 3 to 8 years, regardless of mileage. Carlisle Tire estimates that one-third of a tire?s strength is gone in approximately 3 years. Carlisle says to consider replacement after 3 years, regardless of tread depth remaining; and at 5 years definitely replace.

Lost this tire last weekend towing to Havasu and I only get flats towing there. Something tells me it's the stretch of the 40 where you have those dips in the road they've tried fixing lifting things up and the trailer fenders come back down hard enough to slice the tires that extend past the fender?

sucks.....

Been there done that towing a buddies boat out one night late after work. I knew they were going to be an issue so had jacks, tools, etc.

Unfortunately the spare was no good when I wen't to make the swap at cabazon at 10pm. Got super lucky and found a local truck repair guy that had 4 new tires and did the swap in the valejo parking lot. $600 later and a 2am arrival to Parker and all was good.

We never mess around with our tires...2-3 years max even with little to no usage and they need to be replaced if you are towing. heat kills them

Tires don't like sitting parked for months at a time either. All the weight is in one place on the tire. Add our crappy roads to the it and bam!!

My storage facility forklifts the boat and trailer on to a rack so my tires are always indoors and off of the ground. I'm hoping that extends my tire life a little. Plus the fact that I only tow it about 3 times a summer.

That said, I am liking the idea of using truck tires instead of trailer tires.

I check tire air pressure every time on a long tow .
I set them at 45 psi .
One time I had 15 psi in one tire -had a screw in the tire .Crazy part the tire look good and full .That would of been a problem

Maxxis and Greenball TowMaster's quality has tanked.
The tire now is Carlyle.
They have really improved.
Check Pressure every trip-replace every four years.

I now only put truck tires on my boat trailer, fifth wheel, etc. Trailer tires suck.

Only way to go! Especially since most of the trailer wheels are 15-16" there seems to be very limited brands in certains sizes, like one! Go to a 17" wheel or bigger and there are a lot more tire brand and size options.

I had one lose a tread on me last summer bringing it back to Havasu and did this. Now I know why I don't tow back and forth anymore.

I'm replacing my trailer tires tomorrow. They are 6 years old and alway sat inside, but still worried about it if I have to tow it anywhere besides from the house to the launch ramp.

Got Freestars off Amazon shipped to the house. $50 each, shipped.

I just read up on the greenballs just mentioned. They have a load range f in a 15 that's the highest I've seen towmaster ss. 91 psi and an 81 mile an hour speed rating m. Think I will try those next time. Thanks for heads up.
