Finally got around to putting the battery boxs in. Pretty straight foreward. All the holes lined up with the old ones so I didn’t have to drill any new ones. Pretty happy with how it turned out. In the winter I’ll clean up the wire doubting and put new ones. They were in good shape just look dated.

Found a brand new minkoata digital onboard charger that’s new in box for a steal. Going to pick that up then install it eventually…..too hot 😂

Still haven’t seen the umbrella deal. Going on week 8ish now…..

Got the itch to do some boat stuff so I decided to install the brella. Pretty straight foreward, smith mount was included. Kinda set my umbrella close to where it would work out shade wise and also taking into consideration gettting into/out of the boat front the hatch. I was hoping I could mount it in a position to get most of the cockpit as well as the back swimstep area but it just wouldn’t reach that far. Ended up mounting it pretty much in the center of the cockpit.

2in holesaw and some 1/4 stainless toggles. I was pretty impressed with the floor 3/4 thick with resin over the top. Hopfully won’t ever have issues with it. The pole mount was very sturdy. Might have to machine some uhmw to snug up the pole to hole area, kinda a hotdog down hallway situation 🤣. Overall pretty happy other that the case zipper already busted…. See how long this white stays clean…

Talked to dek_x today and trying to get things lined up but ultimately the boats going to have to go to him. Wanted to do a white base but the amount it gets used I think it will end up too dingey in a short period. Might end up with this color scheme if the purple matches in person. Planning to do the hatch, steps, gunnels and possibly a strip down the center for walking.

I didn’t grab any but this is the exact brand. Think I searched every marine site and looked at 100s of different umbrella holders trying to find it….Guess if I wanted to go fishing I’m setup now 🤣 I see why the fitment wasn’t the best, maybe I’m expecting too much 🤣

Shouldn’t be too hard to make it work. I think if somebody knew how to weld stainless you could easily make it.

lol ol @mattyc will want the dimensions next, so he can make his own. It’ll be fitted perfectly tho when he’s done.

However Blake, next time you’re playing around with boat, measure the od of the umbrella, i can get heat shrink in pretty large sizes, and it has the glue inside. May be the perfect spacer/way to keep from the end scratching anything.

That's clean. No issue stepping on. How much smaller is the od of the pole than the id of the holder?

I used the 70 series bar bottom rod holders, cut and welded the bottoms to the depth I wanted and bought 1 1/2” diameter umbrella and it works pretty good.

Back to a little bit more boat tlc/maintenance. I was having a little trouble last season at the end with starting. Sometimes it would just grind, hit the key a few more times and it would grab. Prayed all winter it wasn’t the flywheel. Luckily just the starter. Going to have it rebuilt and a new gear put on if I can find somebody.

I pulled my header off to remove the starter and deal with a smaller oil leak a noticed coming from the valve covers so while I was at it I figured it’s a good time to switch up my tips with a new set. I’ve had mine polished and they just never seem to last even when taking care of them after use. I also want them to be a little longer……🤣

They are 4.5s which long story short will need to be custom made. I’m thinking 6in will be perfect. No donkey dick stickin out but just enough🤣. I flipped the tip so the inside is sticking out in the picture. That’s right at 5 3/4” should be cherry at 6”

Now just need to find somebody to make them

I’m considering it it’s double wall all the way to the rubber boot so it would just need a 12in section added. More the problem is finding a person to add. Everyone wants to build brand new ones 💰….

Got a nice little Friday package from dek x! When he first sent me pics I wasn’t too sure but in person it looks good. I think it will look even better on the boat. I’ll add the snaps to the hatch pads and be set. Pretty excited I won’t bust my ass anymore! The leather ones were slickkkkkk even dry. I wanted to do white instead of grey but he said it would be brown in 2 uses.

Looks really good!

Do the panels that are snapped to the hatch have a backing or substrate that they are adhered to?

Came out perfect. The colors work great, actually prefer the no yellow on steps after all.

It’s like a rubber ish foam backing. It shouldn’t do any damage to the gel and have traction when walking on it so it’s not solely relying on the snaps

Look great! Snap in foam flooring is an interesting idea if it holds up. Easy swap for someone with snap in carpet too

That's gonna make it nice getting in and out. Looks good
lol I think this is what I’m most hyped about. The leather and metal steps were always so slick without being wet
