I took this at the end of 2003 just trying to lose some weight since I was going through a divorce and had to "go back on the market". Man that shit worked fantastic. Lost like 25 pounds in just a couple of months without doing anything else.

Has anyone found anything that is comparable?

Yes I have been going to the gym. Yes I have been fasting. Yes I have stopped snacking but age and diabetes has a way of killing metabolism.

Isn't that ephedra essentially over the counter 'meth' to a certain degree?
Not trying to be a smart-ass , I'd just think that stuff couldn't be good for you.
Raises your heart rate or something like that yeah????

Early 2000's there was stuff on the market called "Ripped Fuel"...chromium, vitamin B and ephedrine.
Not legal anymore...but worked really well when at the gym.

There's lots of different diets that can get the metabolism working a bit better, but different ones work for different people. No legal magic bullet, just "Jenny Crank". Then you loose teeth and weight.

Weight loss is hard yet very simple.

Intake less calories than your body burns on a daily basis...not drastically less but 5-10% and you will slowly loose weight. Yes health factors impact this and exercise is very helpful..

I used a simple calorie counter and lost 1-2 pounds a week when I really tried hard. A friend used to say all the time, Do not drink your calories, and I was very surprised how much that effected calorie intake.

What you took in 2003 was probably ephedrine, which was banned and now illegal without a prescription. Ephedra is currently legal and is herbal based. You will probably have better results with a good diet and exercise than you will with ephedra. Just my .02.

Oh yeah! Shit was epic in the gym. Roommate used to hate when I went back to the gym a second time in the day because then I would take a second dose and be bouncing off the walls. I’d be bench pressing my max at the end of a three hour workout the same way I did when I walked in the gym fresh.

Xenadrine is what I used. Miss that stuff.

In 2003 I lost about 25 lbs by taking TrimSpa capsules. The active ingredient was ephedra, which at that time was legal to use as a dietary supplement.

TrimSpa sponsored our team that year. Well, in theory. Owner and CEO Alex Goen quit making payments for the deal about five races into the season, which meant Honda didn't get paid for their engines. It was a real clusterfuck, the guy was a slimeball.

The company was making millions in the first few years of operations, and sales jumped when Anna Nicole Smith was made a spokesperson for the brand.

From Wiki:

TrimSpa was a dietary supplement designed for weight loss, marketed by the company Goen Technologies and headed by Alexander Szynalski. The ephedra-based supplement was marketed by TrimSpa to help "stave off hunger", until ephedra was banned from the United States. TrimSpa's parent company, Goen Technologies, filed for bankruptcy protection in May 2008.

TrimSpa started sales in 2001. After hiring spokeswoman Anna Nicole Smith, sales jumped to $43 million by 2004. Sales fell to $19.5 million by 2006.

In September 2008, it was decided by a judge to turn the case into Chapter 7 liquidation. At its peak, TrimSpa brought in $141 million in sales, with $17 million operating profits.

One of my race morning duties was driving the TrimSpa models around the track concourse and souvenir sales trailers that were set up on the midway in a golf cart. I've had worse assignments.

At Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The entrance to Gasoline Alley is on the left of this photo. Check out the grin on the teenager front left. He probably had a stiffie for hours after that encounter.

I'm 44 and diabetic (Type 1) and struggle to keep weight down as well. This last year I've been lifting more and cardio less or not at all. I've done keto and fasting and it only works for a little while. I still do low carb or keto just for the diabetic benefits. I've learned a lot about metabolism by watching Mind Pump Media podcasts on Youtube. Their basic gospel is eat enough (no fasting) and lift more and no to minimal cardio. I have not lost weight but I've lost fat and gained muscle. It's taking a while but that helps me know I'm doing the right thing. I'll keep doing this. My workouts are like 45-60 min a day, 5-6 days a week and then generally eat keto.

Funny. Just last night I was telling the wife how I wish we could still get Xenadrine like we used to. Popped that shit like candy. I’d work on things till 2-3 in the morning. Roll out of bed the next morning by 6, pop some more and be good to go for the day. Legal meth. Probably a good thing I can’t get it anymore as I’d be dead at that rate these days.

That was probably it. I bought it at Walmart of all places and it just worked. At the time I was a Field Engineer and on call all the time so it helped in all sorts of ways.
I have been a type 1 for 30 plus years. I have tried to educate myself about nutrition, dieting, exercising and what not for a long time. All I am trying to do is get a little advantage.

Hell, everyone knows that calorie counting, portion size, and exercise are the only proven methods for healthy weight loss.

But who has the dedication and wherewithal to follow that regimen? Not me, and probably damn few RDP members.

Not really, it blew my doctor away when she gave me a "journal" to track calories, I didn't start loosing weight until under 800 calories a day, I was basically just starving myself. I can take in 1500-1800 calories a day of protein and as much vegetable/fruit carbs as I want and lose 2-3 lbs a week. My daily activity stayed relatively the same. She said just watch your carbs then.

… I forget what they called it but it was a cold pill that Walmart used to sell and it had ephedrine in it… I had no clue that it was somewhat capsule speed… One time while at a check out at Walmart in Oroville the cashier made me fill out a form… I said what is that for and she wouldn’t answer me… It then suddenly dawned on me that yeah that ephedrin is one the ingredients in the cold pill and it’s used in the manufacture of a meth… So smart ass than I am I said to the cashier how many packages of this cold remedy would I have to buy before I could start a meth lab… you think she ignored me before she really ignored me after that…

Intermittent fasting! If you eat last at 6pm and don't eat again till 10, you'll be golden! And healthier too. You can have black coffee or tea

This is such a stupid story, but gotta share, speaking of 'tweakers' . . . .

Years ago when I was in my late teens, eary 20's and a total goof-ball, I had this little bong I made from a stick of bamboo I found down on the beach after a big rain storm.
Put a wine cork in the bottom and resin coated the outside. Drilled a hole for a stem/ bowl & carb. It was a classic little 1 hitter, had a bend in it 1/4 way up.
Right next to the bamboo in the sand was a little pirate lego man and a tiny inflatable zodiac like boat.
The pirate had a tiny musket pistol in his hand . . . his arm pivoted up and downI , so I turned around the musket and raised the arm so it looked like he was taking a bong hit with the pistol ! 😅😂🤣🤪😜
We named the little bong 'The Skipper' and always kept the pirate sitting in the zodiac together with it.
Everyone wanted to borrow 'The Skipper' for parties & stuff . . . it was such a corny novelty.

One time I loaned it out to a dude I was doing some work with . . . . I didn't even know he was a tweaker at the time.
He gave it back to me and late one night I loaded a bowl of dirt weed before bed after working a graveyard shift.
My heart started racing out of control, and I started to panic . . . I called him & said, " WTF did you smoke in this my hearts just about to beat out my chest" !!!!
He said, 'Uhhhh sorry dude, my chick might have smoked a little brown stuff out of it'.
I wanted to kill him . . . needless to say I never spoke to that d-bag ever again.
I remember putting wet towels on myself lying on the floor naked trying to cool-off / mellow out. 😅😂🤣

The stupid stuff I did as a kid.

Early 2000's I'd do 3 ripped fuels with my coffee on the way to the gym. Hit the pile by 4am, showered and off to work by 7. This was Monday through Saturday, working on cars come sundown. Being bulked up probably saved my life and ability to walk in my wreck. Lack of sleep is what caused my wreck...maybe not so much the lack of, but when my body decided to catch up.
I'll never be able to attain that body again. 17 years later, still work out, but it's now down to mostly diet and maintenance. I have to try and maintain abilities, not stack more plates.

This works for me. Swap out breakfast for a protein shake and dump in a few capsule's contents.

Wish they still made cross tops...

Who's showing who's age?? I remember those very well and 3/4 of the people on here probably think that's a religious reference. When I was stationed in Germany back in the early 80's we could go to our local little town drug store and buy Ephedrine over the counter,.

Weight loss and drugs? Maybe for some. It likely depends on so many things. For me, it’s what was previously called “The White Demon”. I love that good stuff, pasta, rice, potatoes, dairy, bread and beer! But, I’m also a Foodie. So, there’s many lo carb/hi protein things I really like. When I need, I can go to a nearly Keto diet and the pounds go away. No Beer is tough but necessary. But, I would/do have dry red wine with dinner. Exorcize? Back in the day, I used one of those brutal length out push up Ab wheels. They do work. Just make sure your back can handle it. For me, I do not require drugs to lose weight.

Some of you OG hippies may remember this song

… I remember that song well… Had a couple of buddies that were roadies for the heat so I hung out and toured with them quite a bit… you had to be very careful when you were around the heat there was always piles of white powder… But you never knew whether it was cocaine or speed… If you filled one nostril and it burned like hell you better fill the other nostril or else you will be on tilt for the rest of the day…the affects of snorting speed…
… The Heat is still playing to this day… The only original member left alive is Fito DeLaPara the drummer… According to the Heats manager Skip Taylor there are only three of us from that era still living… That would be Skip..Netto one of the roadies and me…Dunno???.., I guess that would be four still living including Fito…

It’s always about calories! But it has to be good calories not fat and sugars!

With that said I eat like shit at 49 and can maintain my weight with lifting and cardio.

Daily diet starts with a big bowl of Frosted Flakes and 2% milk then whatever the hell I want the rest of the day! But I really don’t eat much the rest of the day I mostly snack on proteins and some carbs but not much sugar after that except maybe a cookie dough spoon!

I’ll say when I did reach my peak weight I was on the pregnant wife diet! Man she wanted the worst for you food all the time! Kraft Mac n cheese, tortillas with butter, Reese’s peanut butter cups, and lots of sprite to wash it down!
