RD, do u think it would be cool when you're out there in your shiata and one of these assholes buzzes your boat and puts your kids life at risk? Maybe you'll tell the kid " that's ok, we do it in Parker"

Joker, again.. Nothing that happened in that video isn't out of the norm for damn near every weekend in Parker.. I wouldn't think to tell my kids anything about it one way or the other. Now if you and Pat were sitting in my boat freaking out about it.. LOL I'd say, "You guys need to relax and have a beer.. That's normal around here."

It doesn't matter if you are boating Parker, Havasu, Mead, Lake of the Ozarks or any other U.S. lake, if you cause an accident and you aren't following the rules it's your fault and I'm sure your insurance company and the ligation lawyers are going to luv you. Oh I wonder if they'd give you a pass when you say "But that's the way we boat on Parker"! lol :grumble:

Except there wasn't an accident..

I get you guys are spun up.. I'm not arguing for the guy.. I'm just saying while it was close, it didn't look like something that would spook me enough to start a thread asking for the guys head.. On the same token I've seen people do dumb shit way further away that would spook me enough to start a thread asking for someones head. To me it's not about the proximity, but the actual danger involved.

Their expressions were an euphoric look they got when they realized they didn't just die.

C'mon... Are you serious? Lol. If that's what it takes to have a "near death" experience then you need to get out and start living. That wasn't even a fly by.. It was a cruise by . Lol.

Maybe I'm still pissed about the other douche in the M31 that decided to show how bad ass he was with his squirt gun.
I'll call DCB and get his address.

I call bullshit."

Except there wasn't an accident.. "Oh I just ran a red light. Oh there wasn't an accident so again that makes it ok. Great stuff to teach young learning performance boaters!"

I get you guys are spun up. "Really"? "No just trying to not teach bad habits or practices which you seem to be promoting." I'm not arguing for the guy.. Dave......... Just because you are desensitized by close boating does not mean that was safe and it is of my opinion nor should you make it seam like its ok to an audience of boaters.

I seems as if DCB's are better left in the channel.
I'm not an "oh shit" kinda guy either. That boat would have some beers or Gatorade bottles thrown at it as it passed.

Crank baits and 3oz jigs work well!!

I've give credit where credit is due and by Rule 34 - Maneuvering and Warning Signals. INLAND, (C)(i), you are partially right. Yes the DCB operator by default, being the give way vessel in an overtaking scenario, was required to carry out the appropriate warning signals for the situation. However the reality is less than 10% of the boating populace knows how or when to properly execute warning signals and even those that do, don't!

Think of it like this? if you're traveling down the lake and you hear another boat blast their horn, one of two thoughts are typically going to come to mind. 1). WTF did I do? 2) WTF does that person want? I had to memorize all the rules and regulations when I was getting my USCG license and have same reactions.

Not implying that the DCB was right or wrong, but in my experience when driving at a high rate especially in close proximity of other vessels and the shoreline, you have one hand on the wheel and the other hand on the throttle(s), as the last thing in my mind is to remove either hand to from their location to properly signal my intentions.

I agree with you 100% with both hands occupied, but the only thing I was stating is that things will go by the letter when s- it hits the fan. Also when you bring things on yourself by doing something unsafe or with disregard it doesn't look good. Nice chatting with you sir.

I understand Dave's statements.

I boat and have been boating in both Havi and Parker, mostly in Parker over the last 25 years. That was too close, but if you let it ruin your day you end up stressed out with high BP. This is more common on the strip and usually it is some river lice pulling that shit. Just like driving we must be defensive and try not to set up the other guy for failure. Not to be a nutswinger but I get what he is saying!

Yup. Somebody must have hit it hard.

We time everything perfectly on Saturday's so we get maximum fun in all the good spots and leave when the crowds show up. I long for the day where after we move we can be on awesome lakes that we can just sleep in on Saturday, make a nice breakfast and then look outside and say "gee nice weather let's go drop the boat in the water". These damn close passes happen way to often.

It's close but not a close call. He was aimed to do a fly by from quite a distance out. He wasn't about to ride up the photog's ass at any point such as the original video.

Just my ill attempt at humor.

We are riverfront and float from the dam to the smooth spot below dam hideaway most weekends. If you don't ask yourself, " shit does this guy see us "at least 2 times a day its a slow day. :D

I'm thinking the driver of the DCB did not see the toon until it was almost too late.
Bonehead deal no matter the case.
If it is par for the course, you're playing the wrong game.

I watched this video a few more times and I know exactly where that is, and there's no reason he can't see for 100's of yards. I think he's so intent on blowing by the 28 speedster and the other DCB he misjudges the the situation. Bad move on his part in my opinion...:thumbsdown

I dunno.. I guess I'm a Parker boater. They looked pretty par for the course in Parker.. Not sure what the big deal is? He wasn't hauling ass, and he didn't roost you..

I'd live and let live, but again I'm used to close quarter boating like that. I literally wouldn't even think anything of it.

Gotta be honest.. don't care one way or the other. LOL

I've added some comments

Pat I get it.. I'm just saying me personally it wouldn't have bothered me much. Some people certain things bother them, more then others. For example you want this guys head. If it actually bothered me, I would buy the guy a beer next time I saw him and say "Hey man you made a pass that scared the shit out of everyone in my boat." Depending on his reaction to that conversation would determine the outcome of what happens next.

I'm not promoting anything.. Or endorsing anything.. Just saying that pass, is made multiple times every weekend in parker, and you just get kind of used to it after awhile. Up by the dam where 2Driver is, it would damn near be impossible to get to the dam itself on plane without going by a few boats like that on a busy weekend.

Dave......... Just because you are desensitized by close boating does not mean that was safe and it is of my opinion nor should you make it seam like its ok to an audience of boaters.

Pretty much.. LOL If it doesn't raise the hairs on the back of your neck every once in awhile, you're not boating in parker.

Thats Every weekend type of shit in Parker ....

Yep..

WTF - Do this enough and somebody(s) is/are going to die or receive serious injuries. Then we may be talking Fed speed limits on the Gorge/Lake. Or even Gorge closures (look at Mohave - Black Mountain Canyon area up to the dam on some days). The tone of some comments on this thread would probably be very different then. There's nothing right or macho about this, regardless of how some F'in idiots may operate their boats on the Strip. We will each share the burden & results of their Dumb Ass actions.

By the way in your comments.. You do understand that people can have differences of opinion without getting spun up right?

RD

I certainly do. Just trying to maybe prevent a horrible accident in the future. I hate laws and over government regulation. But that doesn't give me the authority to break them especially when putting other boaters in potential harms way. All it takes is one young boater seeing this and seeing RiverDave says it's ok. That's not a good thing IMO. Just saying.

If you see him up at Moabi and I'm there just ask to borrow my kids, for some reason they splash everything in sight.
