Devastating news

I received a call from my sister about an hour ago. I was told that yesterday evening my youngest brother, who lives in San Jose, had taken my sixteen year old nephew to the ER. He was complaining of a severe headache.

An MRI revealed he has a brain tumor. It's located at the base of his skull, and the spinal column and spinal cord are involved. He will undergo surgery tomorrow at 7 AM.

I can't process this. Liam is a brilliant kid. He has knocked down straight As in AP classes for years. He is a loving young man, and he's everything to my brother and sister-in-law, their only child. They put out word today not to call or text them. They are overwhelmed by the obvious implications of the diagnosis.

My sister was present when Liam was born, and she has been a big part of his life since then. When she called me, I couldn't understand what she was saying because she was crying uncontrollably. My 86 year old Dad lost a grandson three years ago, when my beautiful nephew Andrew committed suicide at the age of sixteen. His heart has been broken again.

Please pray for my family members.

A salesperson who works for me, Rob, has a 13 year old daughter that had the same diagnosis. They scheduled the surgery right away and removed the tumor. It was not cancerous and she has 100% recovered and is doing great. I pray your nephew's goes just as smooth, modern medicine can work wonders!!
