I'm loving the gel on this boat.

Working on getting pics of the rest of the boat. It is being unveiled at the LA BoatShow next week!

I'm really looking forward to seeing how this boat performs.

Are the new 400's basically a tuned up 300?

If the weights are the same should be a interesting combo if the last m29 with 300's ran 95 mph.

Anyone know the price jump from the 300-400?

DCB is expecting the boat to run between 105 - 115 depending on props. They are hoping to test the boat tomorrow, and I will get some hard numbers after that. I don't think they will get the big number out of it on the first day though, outboards are finicky with props and it will take a little test and tune.

They are also the only mfg currently that has a SS tie bar for a cat running over 80.

Also talked to Tony and he says you can't just get the lowers without buying the whole pkg. so it looks like the guys with the 350's will be stuck with the lowers they have for awhile.

I hope that's not true

I like the thick cav plates like the 6's and M8's, kinda makes a statement.

Curious if these motors have a built-in break-in period. I know they are 4 strokes, but if I dropped that kind of coin, I'd want to make sure everything was done just right (which I am sure DCB is doing).

When do the 450's come out? ;)

If its like the 350 verado There is a zero break in time. Mercury breaks it in before it leaves.

I'm workin on it.. It's not easy prying pics out of these guys ya know. Lol

If they test tomorrow I'm hoping to get some pics on the trailer and in the water. The boat isn't 100% done yet and they are thrashing to get it done for the LA Show.

Has anyone checked Mercury Racing's website to see if the 400 is listed with specs. I'm not at my PC or I would.

Dave, what does this comment mean? They are also the only mfg currently that has a SS tie bar for a cat running over 80. So Latham or IMCO doesn't make them?

Also with weight of these big 4 strokes I'm not sure the speed will be that much better than 300xs. 300xs 960 lbs(pair) 400 1336 lbs

Merc made the wing plates one off.. Granted this isn't a huge deal because I could make them in my garage in a couple hours, but was pointing out that nobody else has them setup for twins and high performance yet. (As far as boat Mfg's go, there was that x cat deal)

Grey Gooses f-29 with 300's ran low to mid 90's if I remember right? So if they are predicting 105-115 then there's a pretty big gap there on the performance side. Granted I'm sure his boat is heavier then this one.

Should be considerably faster with 200 total more hp and only 380 lbs a pair more in weight. Also more setback weight will help carry the bow on that big boat better

I was in GG's boat with 6 and doing low to mid 90's. M-29 with 300's I think did 95ish.

I get what you are saying they're so new they just aren't out there yet. I think Tommy the 1st owner of that boat hit 98 not sure if Darren got any higher. It will be interesting to see what these will do my money is 105-110. DCB is good at setting up the X dimension on outboards albeit a little high for reliability :) but them and Eliminator know the Twin Outboard game for sure.

Got some more pics from DCB. The interior on this thing is SIIIICCCKKKK!!! Those yellow grab handles I believe have tape on them.. I'm not sure if they are billet integrated into the seat or??

IMG_5926.jpg IMG_5925.jpg

I love the color combo on the boat.. Nice to see DCB putting Gel on this boat that is a little more timeless then some of their typical designs. I think it will go over very well at LA.

Just my opinion but that is one of the sickest boats I've seen come out of the builders in a long time. The gel is drop dead gorgeous, and the engines...well, I am old enough to remember when the Tower of Power hit the water and they were the baddest there ever was, and ever was gonna be. As I sit here at 56 and soak in the idea of a 400 HP outboard engine, right from Merc, that just makes me smile...
Can a 500 HP outboard be far away?
Can you imagine 2 of them on the back of that M-29???

I want one.

I'm looking at the specs;

Full throttle RPM 6400-7000 WOW!

Gearcase, choice of 5.44" Offshore HD
or Sportmaster with choice of camber, straight, left or right. Assume that is aka the torque tab. Nice!

Midsection - choice of 20", 25" or 30"
[emoji6]

Dry weight - 668 lbs

And the best for last, 2 year limited warranty for recreational boating.

There will always be the weight argument vs 2 strokes but you're getting 100 HP more. The HP to weight ratio is almost identical, that's quite an improvement when comparing the 350V to a 300 Opti.

The $64,000 question is how much will one cost?

If it performs, I'd say Mercury Racing knocked it out of the park. [emoji6]

Amazing #s just for the fact that both of those donkeys couldn't drive a boat if we were there to help them. :D:D

Mercury has just about closed there hands around the competitions neck.

Black only comes with red accent graphics like the pictures RD posted.

White gives you 7 choices of accent graphics. You can play with color combos on the website.

So I've heard and don't hold me to this, mid 30s on the 400 and mid to high 20s for the 350. The 400 has got to be legit if it pushed a 39 CC Nor Tech 98 mph. It did have no top so it was cheating a bit.

That's a great pattern - most Bugattis have that stitching and StanCraft uses that look on thier boats - I love it!

I wonder how the 400HP Supercharged outboard would compare to stock pair of Ilmors in the same boat. The outboard is all about HP at the top of the RPM range. I rode in a friends DCB and around 4,000 rpms were coming close to the 95 mark with ease.

As cool as the 400's are, I wouldn't imagine it would be close to a set of 625 Ilmores, or even 570's (which I think would be a very cool rig).

Wow, "Mr. Falkner the Fisherman" who hasn't seen the drivers seat of a CAT in what, six years now is it? I can guaranty my F-29 has more hours on it than his last four boats combine.

You get a lot of seat time when you live on a lake and have a dock in your back yard.

And for the record. 2005 F-29 300x's, not the newer lighter layup hull. will run all day, any day, with 5 people in it, in the mid to upper 90's.

The best I ever got her to do was 104 on GPS, granted it was perfect conditions for that boat. and it cost me a broken ear on on of the props.

That all being said, I think these 400's with the newer lighter hull's that DCB can do , can be a great combo.

I'm sure Tony will fill us in on how it performs.

Tony only has a set of 32's right now and he's expecting it will run 105-107 on the limiter. He won't know what the big end #'s are until he gets some different props and they play around with it a bit.

I agree on this comment. The Ilmore 625 felt like it was not even working as it went from 50 to 100 mph.

This is what I want in 5 years. I am thinking I can afford a used one by then. Lol

That boat is sweet. The twin wacker setup would be awesome on an m27 :D - get it into the high teens. I will say the F29 with Illmors is awesome on Havasu. I was a little skeptical of cost v benefit of DCB but God willing I would buy another in a heartbeat. They are incredible.

It will be interesting to see the numbers of this boat vs Bully's new Nordic 28ss with 300xs's.

I was impressed at how your boat picked up speed quickly and it felt like was not even working hard at around 100 mark.

You can't really compare the two boats. The DCB is a true 29' and the Nordic is a 26' with a swim step.
But they are both badass boats for sure.

They are overpriced and maybe are too heavy, but a pair of the Seven Marine 557's would be a sweet and potent setup...
