We all know who the Don is and now that he doesn’t have to worry about re-election, he’s gunna give ZERO fucks, buckle up!!! 😆

Stop acting like a smoothbrain.

It would be in the best interest of everyone if the guy in charge would be a bit more diplomatic. When one is not diplomatic, and goes after promoting an agenda when it's not the time for that shit, all it does is make him look like an asshole along with his supporters. He should have stuck to the subject matter at hand, answered questions with that in mind, and walked away from the podium.

Now we'll have the entire left up in arms about what he said in his speech....and that doesn't help ANYTHING. If he'd had stuck to the data, consoled the families, etc....then the left would have nothing to call him out about. That's how you make progress. There should have been nothing partisan or agenda based about this speech....today, maybe in a week....but not today.

In case you missed it, I agreed in a previous post. 🤣

Just not sure why people are surprised at this point. You want that or Joe or Kamala? 😆

Right now, comfort the families, and assure the rest of us that flying is safe, and will be safe going forward. 🤷🏼‍♂️ This is sad day for America and this isn’t the time to be throwing out blame.

Exactly. He just has to step on his dick and arm the media.

Media headlines already: Trump baselessly blames DEI on plane crash.

I agree, but in order for you to have credibility in your dissension, you'd have to call out the D's that IMMEDIATELY politize mass shootings with their gun control narratives.

Why is it only Trump that spurs a response from you to these tactics?
Because it's much easier to figure out who to blame for a mass shooting when his body, his weapons and his online manifesto are all right there. It's a little more difficult to figure out who to blame for a mid-air collision between a passenger jet and a military helicopter and do so accurately. Usually the cause stems from not one but many failures that came together. These facts come out after weeks or months of investigation by several agencies and likely will have zero to do with DEI policies. Trump should shut up about it until the investigation is complete.

"Today, you blamed the diversity element but then told us that you weren't sure that the controllers made any mistake. You then said that perhaps the helicopter pilots were the one's who made a mistake," said a reporter.

"Yup. It's all under investigation, " said Trump.

"I understand that," said the reporter. "That's why I'm trying to figure out how you can come to the conclusion right now that diversity had something to do with this crash?"

"Because I have common sense, okay?" said Trump. "

SO, ITS COMMON SENSE THAT IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG, A BLACK OR BROWN PERSON MUST BE AT FAULT.
GOT IT...

If you look at one of @regor posts, although it was a meme, it contained an article that showed how ATC may have been considering mentally disabled people for jobs. I'm guessing they'd never hire anybody in that category. It was probably more a broad brush stroke DEI category definition. Nonetheless, still a scary thought for someone guiding planes through the sky.

I also don't think 99% of people on here think a black or brown person is at fault. It's more the fault of leadership if they lower standards just to have the office photo be more colorful. In certain industries, lower the standard of performance is not acceptable.

Side note, I have no specific data to prove anything. But it would be nice to know certain hiring/training practices that were affected by DEI in industries that have to do with our safety.

My Uncle just retired at John Wayne in 24’. He was 60 or 61. He kept getting waivers approved to continue working. The main reason was that new hires could not cut it in the tower. He might have been one of the oldest ATCs retiring in 24’.

A lot of new ATC’s want to work at centers where they’re moving planes along at 35k feet. Not a lot of people can handle the stress of the tower. That being said it’s not like they just let the new guy “give it a whirl”. There’s still a ground controller, 2-3 guys running the planes and one supervisor (at John Wayne).
My Dad was an ATC at John Wayne for many years. He was forced to retire at 55 because that was the rule at the time. I guess things got bad if they are aloud to stay till 60 now.

He was supposed to but kept applying for that waiver and they kept approving it.

They forced my in-laws neighbor to retire at 55 in 2018, that's the rules

Plane crashes are an unfortunate reality.
There's Waaaaay too many variables to bat 1000%
Human, electronic, mechanical, weather, etc. etc. . . . change / regulate one thing it'll just be something else.
You could ground every single plane in the world and only fly 1 . . . guess what, eventually that one will most likely crash too.
I'm shocked there aren't more crashes than there are to be honest.

I agree whole heartly, but at the same token, if he does that the head line would read something along the lines of "TRUMP DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THE CAUSE OF MAJOR AIR DISASTER"

Damned if you do, damned if you don't...

My 2 cents...

The implication here is that diverse hires are somehow lacking in brain power — an assertion that is certain to please Trump's racist base.

As you were...
That's not the implication at all.

The implication is simply that the priority of important traits were:

1: Skin Color/Sex
2: Ability

....while it should have simply been:

1: Ability

You care to look at the facts and school test scores?

Now before you go all KKK on me due to your ignorance, it is not ALL your communities' fault Chilly. I KNOW you get the short end of the stick when it comes to teachers and facilities, but some of that needs a culture change within your community.

You should be applauding President Trump, he fights for you, unlike the racists you vote for that continually keep you down.

President Donald Trump signed two executive orders on school funding Wednesday that fulfill promises he made on the campaign trail, including on school choice and ending funding for schools that support what the White House calls “radical indoctrination.”

The order on school choice — an issue that Trump has been pushing for eight years — could be a huge win for conservative activists and politicians who have been advocating for decades to make it easier for families to spend taxpayer funds on private education.

We want the best and brightest, simple as that and DEI does not promote that, regardless of what you and the race hustler's parrot.

I don’t know about pilots, but having a radio be a lifeline for me…I’d much rather hear diversity on the other end of it instead of competence.

On a side note, your boys let me slide on a ticket not too long ago and I didn't even drop your name until after they did!!! 🤣

So, what yore saying is ATC's should be hired based on the same standards that the NFL & NBA currently follow?

You and yore radical ideas.

I am proud of RDP, we are two pages into this and not one conspiracy theory mentioned....its almost like shitty things just happen sometimes...
I'll throw one out there for you.

The blackhawk pilot was a tranny who was upset about the new policies happening in the military. To show their "resistance" he/she flew the helo into the jetliner.

That’s a good spot.

They got me at that overpass at the bottom of the hill as I was going east, but they weren’t where they usually are under the bridge.

They had just got somebody and we’re repositioning and saw me fly by. They ultimately stopped me at the top of the hill. Funny thing is my registration was 4 months past due and I didn’t realize it because I had just switched it from the corporation to a personal vehicle and my wife didn’t pay it. I thought and told them it was good. 🤣 Their system was down and they couldn’t verify it so they just gave me a fix it ticket and let me slide on the speeding because I owned it from the beginning.

I take back all the trash I’ve talked about the CHP over years!! 😆

10 pounds of aviation crammed into a 5 pound bag. Tower controller's traffic call "Pat 25, traffic south of the Woodrow Bridge, its a CRJ 1200 feet setting up for runway 33" couldn't have been more descriptive.
Unable to view and listen to that with dry eyes. So tragic, so avoidable.

I had long post written and deleted it.

Look, none of us have much information to go on here, other than what is being spewed out by the media, and I can almost guarantee about 90% is wrong.

God speed the victims and God's grace to their families. I'm sure when the individual stories start coming out this will get all the more tragic.
The manner in which these mishaps occur is almost always multilayered. It's simplistic and unfair to immediately assign blame to a single party.

Tell your dad thanks. They used to help us out a bunch when we were doing some special aerial work over the field at about 400' while they constructed the new terminals. Even though we were completely in the way of ops, they never once gave us a hard time.

Agreed. In aviation we always talk about the Swiss cheese model. Any one mistake (hole) is generally minor and not catastrophic in itself, but sometimes a series of holes lines up and bad things happen.

…..I don’t know shit about shit…..but is it possible the RJ was lower altitude (what sometimes is referred to as busted altitude) on the dogleg approach, say like 50 to 100 feet lower?

again I don’t know shitaboutshit…….because the aivioncs should be calling out altitude as well as ATC

edit: OR, the Blackhawk was 100‘ too high

Imma going to go with bs on that. 5000 hours maybe. I don't remember all the specifics of the conversation with a pilot of one but your not getting anywhere near either seat of a military hawk with 500 hrs Unless training. I doubt that any training exercises would be held near a commercial airport.

Could be wrong, but the qualifications for a seat (was) are steep.

I think Hoover does a good job with his Pilot Debríef series of YouTube videos. He's a former USAF F-15 pilot, and the videos are done straight up with no wild accusations or drama, unlike most aviation video providers.

His short video of the circumstances surrounding the collision of AA 5342 and the Army helicopter lays out the basic facts, provides information about the tools available to pilots and ATC for conflict avoidance, and gives details about the events leading up to the collision.

I'm adding this screenshot of the AA crew. The pilots were young guys, just starting out in their aviation careers. The FAs were dedicated members of the crew. It's hard to see their smiling faces and know they're gone, and that they likely never saw the helicopter because of their left turn toward RWY 33.

The 60 passengers of AA 5342 and 3 crew onboard the Blackhawk have devastated families mourning their loss. My heart goes out to all affected.
