My first thought as well. They did say that road allows for bicycle riders to ride in the lane like they are doing.

While I agree with you.....Get the fuck out out of the middle of the road and I bet that doesn't happen.

Dude was lucky in one way. He's not dead.

He's from a tough family. I heard his grandpa got shot in the chest 4 times and walked away.

I wonder if he muttered "Motherfucker" right after :D I had to do a double take, my mom drives a blue/purple volvo XC90, I think that's what that a-hole was driving.

The driver was tracked down by police that got the vehicle license plate number from the video, and arrested him for hit and run.
Good. That's a pretty serious offense.
.
As irritating as it may be there's no fucking reason to run the guy down, period.[emoji35] Go ahead, piss and moan about it and even scream at the biker but don't try to kill him, fock![emoji19]

Almost no shoulder to ride on and a no passing lane, I would have been single file but I would like to think they were side by side to be "safer" because they can, that didn't work out for crap. I'm glad the driver was arrested, I get tired of hearing about bicyclists getting hit and often killed with little to no repercussion.

Double yellow. Even the truck pass was illegal.

bikes have too follow the traffic laws, meaning 3 or more, you pull over. one of the best thing I ever saw a chp do was pull over a bike for running a stop sign.:cool

This was in Mississippi not CA but some of the trail rules are:

The Natchez Trace Parkway welcomes millions of visitors each year. As a designated bicycling route, thousands of bicyclists travel the Parkway. Bicyclists and motorists have a responsibility to
share the road (PDF 319 KB).

?Ride single-file and on the right (with traffic).
?While bicyclists may use the entire lane when necessary, the Parkway encourages bicyclists to ride as far to the right as is practicable unless
?it is unsafe to do so,
?the bicyclist is passing another bicyclist or pedestrian or
?the bicyclist is preparing for a left-hand turn.

The SUV driver was just a bad driver that was paranoid of passing on the double yellow from what I see. The pickup driver was a local who knew not to cut back and didn't give a shit about the double yellow.

The cyclist on the other hand needed to quit worrying about his rights to the road and allow for idiots in SUV's that can't drive worth a shit......Get his self preservation to the top of his priority list.;)

I've driven the Trace's MS stretch and it's made to drive leisurely, not where you need to be in a hurry. Rules are pretty well enforced to keep the pace slow.

I was headed up to TN on a business trip with some time to kill, so took the Trace to see some nature. Pretty cool road if you ain't in a hurry.:thumbsup

An almost perfect example of 'it's not who's in the right or wrong' .....it's who's right and left.
The cyclist is lucky he's left (meaning not dead).

Both cyclists were all over their lane.

Well the bike had the right of way
the car had right of weight

Bicyclist may have the law on his side, but not the law of physics. That's what I tell my wife and kids, sure, when you step off a cross walk and your pedestrian light is green, you are in the right, but it doesn't mean shit if a dump truck is running that light. Your still dead. The law of physics is much more immediate that just being right by principle or law.

My wife used to suck at driving and had this chip on her shoulder about her fucking "rights". I flat out quit riding with her,she would pull stupid shit and I would just hop out and walk home because she was so inattentive to what was going on around her. Then her aunt was killed by an electrician in a fully loaded van running a red light at 60 MPH and hitting her aunt in the drivers side door, she was in the right but didn't think to look to her left to see the oncoming van. The impact was so devastating that it tore he aunts heart loose from the blood vessels attached to it. She died almost immediately on the scene, her uncle called me to deliver the news to my wife. My wife loved her aunt more than her own mother. My wife never owned up to her shitty driving, but I can say she became much more observant after that happened. I still wont ride in a vehicle she is driving, but it now has more to do with her being super defensive.

Again, the point is law of the land is one thing, law of physics is entirely different. I do not condone what the driver did by hitting the cyclist, but then again, I understand it. Don't be an inconsiderate dick and shit like this typically doesn't happen.

That's funny because I'm not an idiot. When I SUP at lakes I stick very closely to the shore....so close that boats probably couldn't even go that shallow. Maybe cyclist should do the same.

The bottom line is if your tight shorts wearing ass is out in my lane and it comes down to me going head on with another vehicle or running you over your bicycle, you're going to lose that one every time.

You can only get away with it if you're a rapper or hollywierd celeb.
You don't need to rush to work so what's your hurry?

Geeezus, This is the perfect storm for me and you Grads. Time you got called out at your own game. As you know I ride bikes a "bit." Recently, due to an Ishiofemoral ligament injury (possible fatal to my cycling) I've picked up the sport of SUP, to keep myself fit. This 56 year old cyclist officially calls your ass out, in front of this entire forum...AT PARKER to race me for whatever you wish. I recommend we even establish wagers for the inmates. Gonna let a dumb ass old man call you out? A bike riding old man in bike pants?

BTW, I 've tried to ride my bike in shallow water, close to the shore, it didn't work. :D

Here's the venue.

I'll even wear my "gay little bike pants."

Honestly the car is legally in the wrong, but when these douches are riding two wide on a street what do they expect? For everyone in the world to wait while they get their work out on?

I find it funny the guy that ran him over was the Dean of a university. Lol.

I don't even have a job but my time is still worth more than driving to that shithole you call Parker.
