It's actually a Russian Tortoise . . . a friend gave him to me around 30 years ago.
We built him a little house out of cinder block, and he usually goes in around October and comes out around mid-February.
He's small . . . about 7-8 inches across.
About 20 years ago, he was burrowing under our fence to hibernate, and the neighbors dog heard him and met him 1/2 way. Chewed-off his front right leg, and gnawed on his shell.
The vet had him for 6-months and kept him from hibernating for fear an infection of the wounds would kill him.
He pulled it off and has pissed-of ever since ! LOL . . . The vet even fiberglass'd his shell back together.
Tough little guy.

They're pretty cool.
Even with only 3 legs, the little shit is an escape artist ! At one point I took one of those hard plastic label makers, made one with our address/ phone # on it and stuck it to his shell. Seemed like a different neighbor would bring him back every other week ! So we've put up little barriers to keep him in the yard. But he'll jam if he see's one down.
There used to be a place in Fountain Valley called 'Casa De Tortuga' . . . I never went there, but I heard they did babysitting for peoples tortoises, and fostering / adoption. I think schools would even do field trips there for little kids.
I always wanted to find a CA Desert Tortoise in the wild and bring it home, but I know it's super illegal etc. . . . but now I don't think I'd do it . . . kinda be a buzzkill for one to be just stuck in a backyard.

Flying into Vegas this morning on my way back to Havasu. I think that I saw @beaverretriever on his SUP in Lake Las Vegas…..
Very cool photos. Those solar fields are so surreal; definitely something out of a James Bond movie.

You can actually see our house in that photo. And yes, we will be getting out on the lake soon!

That has all the Possibilities of being Really "Shocking" pouring the Bleach directly over your Outlet.

You get used to it as your aim gets better🤣

Wait till you see the pressure tank come on as the well is circulating and that goes kicks up pressure🤷🏻‍♂️ you learn real quick on the hose pressure when you come to check on it ant the well shed is flooded..lol

there is a reason that circuit it tied in with an AFCI not a GFCI😜

"Bleach" is already poured in at that point. That is the hose that recirculates the water from the bottom of the well to the top(basically mixing) to set the PPM. Then cycle the house.

Some will know.. some may think "WTF".. but it is what it is when you dont "depend" on others for water! And know "what you are getting".
Mine was hand dug 33'. Never had to do that in 23 years.
