Sorry to hear that....how big was the pup?

Our American Bulldog Boxer mix weighs 80lbs and she stays on our patio when in Corona. Unless a pack of them come she shouldn't have any problems. We are up against the Cleveland National Forest so there are plenty of them around.

those friggin things are all over our neighborhood. They jump the walls like cats and come into the back yards. Chewed up my neighbors little dog.
They are even around during the day. Not even afraid of humans anymore...

I have seen them jump some very high walls that a person would not believe, until they see it with their own eyes. I dont know about cheetahs ,but they are the fastest animals I have seen.

One chased my cat down the driveway couple years ago so now I keep him inside at night.

There is a huge coyote problem in Eastvale. I know of at least 2 instances on coyotes attacking dogs while on the leash, on our walking trail.

I live in lake Mathews area and we have coyotes all the time. Lately we have had a mountain lion killing everything around. Got our cat and dog in two nights. Wife saw the dog get attacked. A neighbor close to us saw his dog get taken during the day and they got a permit to kill it. This year has need bad. No rabbits for them to feed on.

Careful with that thought. As tough as your dog might be against a normal dog, a Coyote is not just another dog. The best case scenario is going to be a serious vet visit. Coyote is a wild animal, think of them as the "professional" in the fight. Mean, Tough, Fast, and Strong are all required just to survive. Your dog most likely does not live like that.

Raccoons, Coyotes and Mountain Lions are much harder on dogs than people give them credit for ........ People say "My dog has that raccoon by 50 pounds, and they get 80 pounds of shredded blood and meat back with a pissed Raccoon yelling (I'm translating here) You want a piece of me? You next? Bring it!!!!!

The only real way to deal with it is to prevent the meeting.

I understand what you are saying but one on one I am not worried about a Coyote. They want the easy meal for the most part but if multi ones showed up she would be done. I have always lived around wild animals. At my AZ home there is a mountain lion in our area and I would never expose her to that risk. My other pup a Border Collie/Pit mix would take down the Coyote but again more than one and she is toast. She did take out a Gila Monster in the back yard and is constantly getting rabbits and whatever else ventures into the yard....lol I worry about snakes moreso out in AZ as we have a lot of them.

FYI one coyote will lure a dog away make him chase him to his other buddies and the single dog doesn't stand a chance, Those fuckers are smarter than you think!!!Be careful I have a 130 lb. rott and they make me nervous when I see them out at night....

130lb rott, what do you feed that thing coyotes?:)

He was only suppose to be around 100lbs he was the pick of the litter and there was some big dogs in the line. Only 7 in the liter he was the only male. He is an American Rott people breed them to get big and that's not good because all that weight is hard on their joints. They're great and loyal dogs though just like every other breed DOGS RULE!!!

I hear ya but in my experience and unfortunately we have had 2 dogs killed by coyotes they generally stay away from dogs of their same size and bigger. My buddies lab destroyed a coyote a few months back and this is a very friendly lab. Most dogs are very aggressive when they are pushed. I have another buddy whose Rotty F'd up 2 coyotes last year, my buddy had to pull the Rotty off the second one, he was tearing it apart. Animal control came and took the coyotes to euthanize them and the officer was actually upset with my buddy, my buddy asked him if he wanted to be next? LOL

Totally aware of that smart deal with the yotes. My AB isnt juming over the patio wall. The other can clear a 6 foot wall no problem.

Jack Russell.

The fucking cities won't do jack shit because of the tree hugging fucktards.
Found a cats head in my front yard a few years ago and about ten phone calls later had a guy with the state AG department (they are in charge of the coyote abatement) tell me to round up as many neighbors as possible to hammer on the city councilman and they would reluctantly have them removed.
Animal control are assholes. Had some idiot on the phone tell me they had no complaints, didn't know about a coyote problem, but their den is in the wash at White Oak and Oxnard. I asked if there were no problems why did she know where they were? She hung up.:rolleyes

For the first two years here I didn't see or hear any coyotes. Lately I'm hearing a "hunting party" about midnight. Far away at first, but a few nights ago they were right on the road 200' from my fence... I WILL shoot to kill if given the chance. I credited Owls for the loss of two cats last year, now I'm not sure, but the 20ga. goes with me outside at night....And the cats stay in....

That's exactly right and is what they do.
Its usually the female doing the dirty work.
They will run a dog down to the ground until its so tired its useless no matter how strong the dog is.
Dog is definitely on the Coyote menu when starving and a lot of Coyotes are starving out there right now.

Utah actually has a bounty on them. You have to register and take a online class. Once you do that, you get $50 a head. There is a bunch of them out there. Almost every night I get woke up with them howling.

There have been 15+ coyote incidents in my neighborhood since the beginning of the year with another just last week where the dog was killed in the backyard.

We no longer let our dog (morkie) outside, day or night, without going with him and taking an aluminum baseball bat with us.

Nice, LOL. My Cur has gotten into fights with two of them, did good, no vet bills, Coyotes not so much.

Later when I have time I will try and post a great pic of something that's great for nuisance coyotes. :D:D

Coyote Rollers -

We are building another Iron Fence section at an HOA this week using these rollers. The 1st job went well and is keeping the Coyotes out of that HOA so were going to try it again.

They scale fences and gates like a Cat but not with this product.

http://coyoteroller.com/collections/coyote-rollers/products/4-foot-coyote-roller?variant=1210762865

Maybe they can help someone here. They ship fast even thought their website is a little goofy and they cant find their telephone.

same here. called all of these idiots and they didnt do shit between city council and SEACCA (animal control). Animal control tells me they are harmless and just looking for fruits to eat do not harm them and to keep trash off the floor? City council is worthless as usual, unless you pay them off ....

These people are all useless.

These Yotes have learned to hunt domestic animals that are trapped in yards that have zero chance of running away. I see all kinds of rabbits at night that they dont even bother going after. Easier to kill a little shitzu.

My dogs are never out unsupervised any more. We have coyotes in the yard often. Saw a large one about a month ago ambling down the street about 1PM, 105 out that day, so don't let the light of day lull you into thinking your pets are safe, they are not. Coyotes are 24 hour hunters, as are lions, bobcats and so on.

We have had several issues with coyotes in my neighborhood. My in laws also lost their dog to a pack of coyotes last year. Fortunately my puppy is an 80lb German Shepherd/Lab mix so they have left him alone, but I would feel way better having the coyote roller on my fence. Thanks for the info!

Raccoons make some crazy noise s when fighting. They are very tough creatures and smart. I had a pack that would travel through my old yard. My 3 German Shepherds would sit back and give them there space as they passed through.

As far as coyotes go, few months ago one ate a friends dog in Lomita. They use to leave sliding door open just enough for dogs to go in and out. Door was open more than normal and only the head left from one of there chihuahas.

In Santa clarita we've got them good. Saw one amblin down the street about 3 am, thought it was a German shepard first. He was huge. Used to hear the horse's and mule across the street kickin the gates and pipe corral late at night. Always figured it was yotes in there sniffin around.
Neighbor just got 2 pups. Chihuahua and some kind of herder. They bark ALL the time. Told the wife they're just advertising dinner to the yotes.
No way I'd even think about my dog against "1" Coyote, and he's huge. Mostly Rott with Dobie legs and Lab. 130 back in the day. He started growlin and charged the door one night. So I killed the lights and we went out. He took off before I realized it was raccoons. I started yelling at him and fortunately he listens and backed off when he had them under a car. All I could see was thousand dollars vet bills. He hates those fuckin raccoons.

Same with my dog, he gets most angry but also very cautious with raccoons. There mean little fuckers. Had one in a trap a while back that had to be 40lbs. It amazed me being as big as he was how he fit in the trap, must of been very hungry.

Yep times two! These guys don't care what time it is. We live in north Upland and coyotes are all day long. I have chased one in my truck at 30 mph and he was pulling away.

somebitches would pull away and I was going pretty fast. Friggin things have escape routes too...

We had one tear out of trap years ago. Never did kill that one. Over the years he got over 50 chickens and our duck.

As far as weight they are solid. I recall a hunt we did in my Uncles neighbors barn years ago. It was abandoned and infested with coons. We killed around a dozen over a few nights. Last night we found there hiding spot in a grain conveyor. Light gauge metal we just started riddling with bullets. 2 big ones jumped out and I unloaded my banana clip into both and the 22 rounds did not slow them much. One jumped down after being hit at least 8 times and came at me. My cousin shot with the 9 dropping it and my brother shot the other with a shotgun. Had a little extra lead in it but the big male was 56 lbs.
