Believe it or not, we only dined out for special occasions until we were in our 40’s.

I still have a hard time finding the value unless the atmosphere is awesome and we are with friends. Eating out just because Im hungry doesn't have much value.

Living in Hawaii part time is brutal, 2 bags of groceries about 110 bucks, that's 1 person for almost a week. Big Mac meal is 14.79...

We went to Red Robin’s Friday. I was actually happy with the bill. 5 of us for under 100. With dessert for the 3 kids
Chili's is the reigning champion of best value places to take the family.
I can get out of Chilis and feed the family for less than 1/2 of the fast food places around, if not the same price. And that includes a waitress, tip and chips / salsa.

Subway on the other hand . . . they have lost their mind. Must have been hanging out with Carls Jr or something . . .

Geeze, so it appears that Im not the only one who feels like its getting out of hand huh. If my man doesnt survive this balls out attempt to keep him out of office any way possible, then kiss the US as we know it GOODBYE.
And that will only be for 4 years ☹️☹️
No... I (we) have started to pick and chose some but its not that we cannot afford it, its more on principle and will not pay for it at some ridicules prices (like Chick-fil-a) or the value is not there anymore for the price.

In n out is still cheaper than most fast food. #1 with a large drink is like 11 bucks. Most places 13+

For a while there it was the best deal out there, but the bill has jumped quite a bit too since they adjusted prices. Still not nearly as bad as others.
I feel like the line is insane 24/7 no matter what's going on lol.

If you can stomach it . . . Taco bell $7 box is the value champ. Your shits may vary!

I got in line at 955 this morning before it opened. By the time it opened at 1005 there was 8 cars behind me. They used to open at 1015 although the sign says 1030. I used to only go between 1015-1030. Now by 1030 it's a 30-40 minute wait with the line. Torrance location. The other one on Carson St and 110 is much faster.

I skipped breakfast and just got lunch. Breakfast pick up is $18.50 for a burrito and I drop a 20. If I sit down $25-30 with water. 2 cheeseburgers was under $10.

In and Out last weekend - One DD no fries and a large shake for my son, daughter, wife and myself all had number 2's with the std. drink.

$41.32 and I was actually thinking there goes a Fifty and was feeling like I got a win. Stupid.

Two weekends back we saw Toad the Wet Sprocket and Counting Crows at the Pacific Ampithature.
I had two tacos which ended up being street tacos (tiny) for $14 bucks. My wife a fish taco and a cup of corn another $15 bucks. $35 with tip.
Then we went and I did the can beer thing wife had some seltzer deal. Another near $50 bucks with tip. I nursed that beer well into the Counting Crows set.
Both bands were excellent.

I am shocked that you question why you hear nothing about it. You do know that anything negative is suppressed by the media (including FOX) and the internet. Good people are putting their heads down and taking the beating. 👍
Great answer !!!!

You have to do your homework and find the deals. And most importantly reward the restaurants that have the value.

1) Join the American legion as a veteran or a legacy (dad, mom, grandfather, grandmother provide DD214) 72 oz pitchers of beer for 6 bucks.

2) the deals are Monday through Thursday, I can rattle off 2.50 domestic bottles at locations all day long…

3). Dig around, here is one of my favorites. 10 bucks for a pint of any house brews and a cheeseburger.

4) eat less, I have seen a lot of you without a shirt on.

Basically everything starts around $100
Quick dinner. Store. Fuel. Etc etc. seems like anything I go do it’s around $100
For basic and goes up from there.

Friends were out from
England that hadn’t been here in 8 years or so. Shocked at prices in the store. Rattled off some comparison prices like gallon of milk there 2 lbs. eggs pound and a half. Cereal a pound. Blown away.

Shits crazy and needs to stop. However, I’m guessing it won’t stop until people stop paying the crazy prices.
Our daughter recently did some vacation in Paris and Tokyo. She told me, Dad it was actually fairly inexpensive. I told her, You live in NYC. Look at what you’re saying. That should tell you something.

My grandma likes to go out to lunch/dinner once a week. I get it, change of scenery and she’s bored. So I budget about $200 a month for her dining out.

We go to black horse in Norco usually. She gets a cup of potato cheese soup, and fish and chips. I get the soup and salad meal. One water and an iced tea. It feeds her twice. It comes out to $42 and I tip $10 to Michelle who is a great server. When we go to Panera- she loves their chicken and wild rice soup- it’ll cost over $30 for two pick 2 deals. And, that only feeds grandma once. So I’d rather pay the extra money for good service and better food.

I made the mistake of eating at a Mediterranean restaurant and I could made my entire family kabobs for the price of 3 people.

If you think food is high now just wait till 2 more years the war on farmers is a real thing that is being hidden from the masses. The US has always had cheap food and it is changing at a rapid pace. Everybody should check out the lines at the local food banks on distribution days it is unbelievable how many people are showing up and waiting hours to get their free food. Government is causing this problem then asks everybody for donations to give away free food what a scam buying votes with donated money.

Some building materials are coming down. Since covid the mark up has been huge. The shipping prices are down but they never lowered the price. The Pro sales at HD and Lowes are both willing to go down to 5% over invoice.

The window delivery I just received from milgard was 35% off.

The insulation order $50% off.

Kitchen cabinets got a additional 10% off on top of my regular discount.

Most of the spots I go are slow and going back in price to get the sales. Covid pricing is over.
Bad sign...

Elks Club $10 Burger night. Cheese burger with fixins, beans, salad, lemon cake. Many Elks clubs have multiple nights of dinners. That can be an exceptional night out with added social value, you don't need to be a member at our local lodge. It's real food, hand made.

I can make a meal for about $2.00 a person even with today's prices. Loaf of bread, dozen eggs, Oat Meal, Coffee. That can last the better part of the week for one person breakfast. Loaf of Bread $4.00, Dozen Eggs $5.00, Coffee $7.00 (gets you a couple weeks) Oat Meal $5.00 (2 weeks) $25.00 investment for the week. $35.00 for two weeks.

If you want to get real serious about how cheap you can eat, add in home made bread and fresh eggs from your chicken. You can make sustenance pretty cheap if you don't go crazy building the garden and end of with $2,000 Zucchini.

Whole Chicken, Pork Roast, Chuck Roast and you can get creative. My Mom used to stretch this stuff pretty far in the Reagan era. Angie worked in the Grocery store for the first half of our marriage, she knows how to shop.

I grew up with food insecurity, very poor. Tina's Burrito's were a luxury item at $0.33 ($0.25 on sale) You can be very crafty if you have to be. We have been spoiled for too long. Fat and Happy.

So in a nutshell, the $100 bill is the new $20 bill. Its insane!
I know if I leave the house with my girls its going to cost me $200 to do anything.

Cant keep up!
That's by Design so that when prices settle in and the $50 bill feels like the new 20 you'll be over the top excited and thank whoever made that happen.

Was at a pro soccer game over the weekend, and the opposing teams fan section was in a corner a few sections away from us. When their teams scored, beers went flying in the air. These are $20 beers

the masses don't care... they'll keep spending / charging it to the cards. I would never waste a $20 beer lol
Fortunately it’s soccer so you only have to do it once per game.

When I bought my first house in Rubidoux, Stater Bros would put some cheap frozen pizzas on sale. .25 for cheese, .35 for pepperoni. They were one plate size...I had one plate, it was perfect! At first I BBQ'd them...because I had one. For Christmas that year, my parents bought me a stove. I bought cans of tomato soup and made grilled cheese. It was great!

There is some good news…….

I just filled my boat with gas. The bill was $175 cheaper than it was a year ago.

Too bad I didn’t wait until the end of the week…….. The local news just predicted gas to go under $3 per gallon this week in Florida. Figures! lol
On the plus side, when the hurricanes hit in 2 weeks, there will be no gas lines, because the strategic reserve is empty.. Just start walking north..

Don't travel. . There are places you can still eat well for $2, rent a nice house near a beach for less than $200/mo. (White man's price) locals $60/mo. It really is an eye opner as to how expensive the US is, basically everyone feeding the most wealthy to become more wealthy while you become more poor.

$5/week maid
$8/24hr. driver
$2/24hr. comfort companion.
(Typically includes a haircut)
.04/ cup of coffee.

"Let them eat cake."

Miss those days, the Norco In N Out was the spot to go after football games in high school and it seemed like that 5.95 price stayed that way for a while.
Did you hear about the shooting after homecoming at in n out

I'm seriously floored by the amount of fast food you folks eat. And then complaining because it's expensive. I'm trying not to laugh at the humor of it all. You're paying these prices to be poisoned. Keep going down that road. You're doing exactly what they want you to do. They've made it addicting so that you'll keep coming back no matter the cost. Yes, you'll whine and complain, but you'll keep coming back. And your women and daughters are doing the same thing with their $10 coffees from Starbux or Dutch Bros. Perhaps you are also. I don't get it.

Yes, I realize groceries are high also, but I'm pretty picky about most of our groceries and what we put in our bodies. That's why it costs so much. Many regular groceries can still be found for fairly reasonable prices if you shop the sales. The high end stuff is higher than ever, but the cheaper brands aren't much more than they were before the pandemic. Store brand pasta, beans, bread, and cheerios would bring my grocery bill down considerably.

I remember my mom telling me when I was a teenager, "If you agree to pay the high price of something that you know should be less, then you are basically saying you're okay with it."

Sounds like you all are okay with it.

I ate those also. I think Genos? Tortinos? Them things were good. Square Pepperoni, meat things. If you put a little shredded Govt Cheese on them it woke them up, if you could get some.
