I've always enjoyed putting up Xmas decorations on my home, and try to time it right before thanksgiving. Some years I put them earlier but have not turned them on and have got the stink eye from older male neighbors. This year we have some younger neighbors and they have the lights up and on...

What is the inmate consensus for lighting up Christmas lights?

We were just talking about this at work. Thanksgiving isn't hardly recognized anymore. We go straight from Halloween to Christmas. 🤷

Gotta establish dominance
Our new neighbor beat everyone to it. Pre-Halloween.. He had a company come put them up. Did some weird lines/routing. Hasn’t turned them into off since. 😂

Usually day after thanksgiving. And down on Jan 6.

Edit:
According to Christian tradition, January 6 marks the day the three kings actually arrived in Bethlehem after Jesus was born, so this day signals the official end of the Christmas celebrations

This for me in the past. Used to enjoy a decorated home for the Holidays. Not sure why but the wife has questioned me doing it when our son went to college. It kind of took the fun out of it for me. 😢😢😢😢

Thanksgiving week is fine. But my hard fast rule is that every last Christmas decoration or hint of Christmas at my house is down boxed and put away by Dec 30.

Just got a cheap 80 dollar 6ft fake flocked tree for the back tv room. Had to make sure it fit ok. I think I’ll just leave that up. Lol

I bought new lights for the house this year and will put them up probably Sunday of thanksgiving weekend. They can stay up past new years, I like coming home to a lit house, always have.

Lowe's had a better price on lights than Amazon did so I bought 5 packs. Hopefully that covers the eves of the house.

Normally Thanksgiving weekend, and take down 2nd weekend of January. This year I'll be out of town, so I'll try to squeeze putting the lights up in the evening.

Weekend after Thanksgiving and come down the 26th.
This^^^^^ but…come Christmas night all is down and off. Wife can’t believe people have lights on once Xmas is over. Drives her nuts. And she goes all out with decorations. We spend a whole weekend outside

Almost the entire neighborhood has lights up and on. It starts the day after Halloween around here, mostly because everyone has a “guy” doing it due to the size of the houses and steep roofs. I guess it also gets more rainy and cold as the season progresses. My ground decorations won’t go up until after Thanksgiving.

In CA I always had them up the weekend of Thanksgiving.

For 80 bucks you can throw it away at the end of the season and not care
I bet we have this for at least 4-5 yrs. Have enough storage. And it actually will fit in a couple other spots when the little woman wants to change things up.

Up the Friday after Thanksgiving and down New Year's Day like clockwork for last 20 years. Now, the amount of lights has been slowly decreasing and yard decorations are way down.

Have a couple of new neighbors that put them up right after Halloween then turned them on. I enjoy putting up lights and was like man that is to early.. especially with a have hearted attempt at decorating. I put the icicle lights up last weekend and turned them on. Not finished with the entire display yet but thought you kids need to go all in if your you are lighting them up so early. I turn them off right after New Years and take them down as soon as the weather allows.

Still working on the final touches and will post pics tomorrow night, most of our neighbors thank us for going all in on Christmas decorations. Except for the retired CA fire marshal, he is what you would imagine he is.

Put up inside Christmas decorations all day yesterday. Headed to the airport this morning to go to NC for Thanksgiving.

Just need to do the outside after we get back on the 29th.

Used to have the outside up by Thanksgiving.
Kids and wife stopped helping me a few years ago so I said screw last year. If they want to help I'll do it. But im not doing it by myself while they sit on the couch. I've got better chores that need done.

Well, lights are up and on. Only one visit to ER...dam humming feeder wire hanger. 17 stitches to put my ear back to one being piece of flesh.
I don't know why after reading these two posts this was the first image to pop into my head...

Lights look great, not going to say it was worth it this year though. I dont think I will ever get the sound of my ear cartilage being ripped apart out of my mind..same sound as the wound packaging made when I move that was packed in my stitched back together ear.
