I said I was not listening to anybody, not the doctors, not the .gov, not RDP geniuses.
I agree. My point is if they can’t get eggs right how can you trust anything else.

The snowbirds leave today. April 1st is usually when I head to Havasu, drop the boat off for service and get the house ready. Not happening this year for a while.

While I can make sure to wear gloves, sanitize, avoid the markets and social distance, it’s not sending the right message in my opinion. Our boating friends sent the text about the channel closing and they were thinking they would head out to Havasu and asked if we were all going. I said no because I take care of my grandma and if she gets it, and passes because I wanted to have some fun, I would struggle with forever. The problem with people from other states coming to boat may not be them because they are following the safety and social distancing aspect, but it’s when everyone catches on that you can escape to Havasu. It will be a holiday weekend every weekend and not everyone is going to follow those protocols which puts you at risk as well as the locals who don’t have the proper amenities to survive this. Once people start drinking after boating all day, they will forget to wash their hands and touch everything at the gas station, or grocery store. Or they won’t follow the rules anyways. They will allow their best friend to come on the trip because they trust they aren’t sick. Multiple people coming to Havasu will have this virus and it will spread.

I’m not here to bash anyone on here coming to Havasu because I think everyone has the best intentions for their families and honestly will practice the guidelines and be safe, it’s the other people that will follow once they see everyone is boating that will cause the spread. I honestly think the lakes will be filled with people escaping the nightmare we are in and Arizona will have to shut down the ramps. Think of the how busy the ramps will be. Everyone who touches the cleats to tie up will then pass on their germs, etc.

Just my two cents. Everyone be safe and wash your hands. Hopefully boating season comes sooner then later. I miss it a lot.

Sounds like China news! I JUST seen 17 people on a pontoon boat on FB talking about practicing social distancing on lake Havasu and the weather is great.
I think he's talking about Mead

Great post. Totally agree after seeing the channel the last two weekends. Maybe now the beer bong vendor will close down his shop in the channel😁

Just delayed my move in @ the Islander. From April 15 to April 29.
Retired couple from upper New York are in my summer spot wanted to stay longer and not travel back to NY yet.
Could not say no to that ask

twice as many posts in "channel closed" than "havasu lockdown"... so I guess that answers why the channel is closing since twice as many people are concerned about it. I was considering 3 full days isolated in my express cruiser. I would just launch out of Havasu springs and anchor several hundred feet away from any shoreline for 3 days. I have a generator, AC, kitchen and bathroom and 100 gallons of fuel... Maybe fly a diver down flag and set my BCD and a tank on the swim step to be legit and go check out a few spots. That should keep me distanced. Zero internet, phone or pictures as to not be "that guy"... I am on the fence still as to the right decision.

Just got word, that whomever makes the call, the lake will be down a minimum of 6' by the weekend. Damn, took a drive down London Bridge road and there's islands at the mouth I've never seen and they're dropping it another 6', DAMN!!!

If this is true this is basically their way of “ closing it” without officially doing it. I was out Saturday and it was pretty low.

That is crazy....I get out each day and do a bike ride down the coast. Two days in a row last week I saw cruise ships leaving Long Beach....I was thinking WTF are they still cruising for...seems like the worst environment for virus's to spread.
That's the problem, people think if they lose 2-4 weeks of there normal life they are being told what to do

Parks in cali side of Parker are allowing snowbirds to
Its every other post on FB. Like there bragging about it. Just like Foxs 2 weekends ago. Packed and I saw several posts about them practicing social distancing with a crowd in the background of there selfies. Now every one at Foxs that weekend has been exposed. They would not shut down Glamis or any launch ramps but reality is people just don't give a fuck. Sad. Not everyone on the lake or Glamis as some are doing it right. But when every other post is someone bragging about social distancing and are in a big group of crowd what should officials do?
Exactly!

I’m just surprised so many boaters and off roaders don’t have elderly family members they are trying to help isolate?
Yes, 98% of us won’t die, and I’m for free choice, but don’t go out and do either of the above activities the last weekend and then post how you had a loved one die due to the virus.

No hypocrites is all I ask lol!
Maybe Boaters are Spartans and want the old to die off? Most don’t look or act the part from what I’ve encountered ha ha

I don’t understand this.. if I go launch my boat and take the family boating away from
Anyone else.. and then when we r done we come home.. where is the harm in this?

x2. Thought 440 is the lower limit and takes government orders to go under that

WHY? I can't believe it would be for Agriculture,as Parker Dam can regulate any flows they would need for that down stream.

More water is released from Lake Mead and Lake Powell to supply the demand and California has the largest entitlements to these lakes, and Lake Havasu serves as a balancing reservoir.

To supply this – Lake Havasu does not vary more than 5 feet, and in the Summer Months is consistently 98% or more full.

But while Lake Havasu is high, Lake Powell and Lake Mead unfortunately continue to get lower Lake Mead and Lake Powell are predicted this year to be less than 49% full.
We hope you come join us this year and enjoy our pristine water and the best water level in all of the Colorado River.

Told him to stay home, I will deliver everything like I always do to his live in caretaker who is isolated with him.
He drives to Rite Aid last week!

I hide the keys in his house tell the caretaker I did it and didn’t let them know where keys were. Took my Dad a week to ask. I go get his prescriptions at Rite Aid (My Dad’s been a widow 3 years)

The cute 60 something pharamacy clerk lights up when I give her my Dad’s name. At least I figured out his motivation.
I used the teamwork verbal judo of my wife and I being first responders and we have enough on our plates, let alone him getting injured or sick. No doubt we revert backwards in age on decision making when we get old. My Dad is a 16 year old apparently lol

My dad will be 86 this week. He is also a widower. Two days ago he went to Home Depot to buy parts for his drip irrigation system.

I mailed him a few of the N95 masks I found in my garage cabinets on Sunday. He's been wearing a construction dust mask, which might be better than nothing, but just barely.

If he contracts the virus, the odds of him dying are overwhelming. But he's invincible. Two weeks ago he climbed out a second story window with a five gallon bucket of Magic Fix Everything to repair a leak around the scupper on his flat roof.

He just ignores my entreaties to stop doing shit like that.

Coming up on 4 thousand deaths, but people will still say the common flu kills way more, the only difference is the flu will be over soon, the covid not so much. We get up to 50-100k deaths and people know someone or a family member that has lost there life they will take it serious and wish they did what was asked of them. Stay at home , hauling your family to the lake and washing your hands before getting in boat is not what is being asked. Not sure how much more simple it could be. If you said I have to do this to feed my family I could understand, but if your saying its so your kid or family don't miss out on spring break at the lake or it's your right to hit the lake, pretty sad.

Just checked the Bureau of Reclamation. The lake is currently 445.9 and should be about the same for a couple days and back to 447' by 4-4 2020 and back to 448' two weeks out, no mention of anything lower than 446'.

I just heard an old friends dad passed away yesterday from the virus. [emoji22][emoji1418]. Another friend has been quarantined for testing positive. It’s hit pretty close to home for me.

Dave, we honestly thought about heading out this weekend to boat but decided against it. We also had the opportunity to have our daughter come up from Phoenix and decided against that as well. As i sit here and type this i also wonder if it’s the last time i could have seen her. With my lungs being compromised and working around people who just don’t give a shit, I’m not sure how many dice to roll .

Dave, I get your point for YOU
The issue is, if you are concerned with caring for a high risk family member , you need to also be thinking about keeping yourself (caregiver) safe
Imagine if you did your ankle injury during this time and you ended up in a hospital/ higher chance of exposure?
Could you do that getting food for said person? Yes, but I’d wager much less of a chance.
And what about if you need assistance on the water? Is putting more people on the water and potentially tying up first responder resources really the most prudent thing we as a society should be doing right now?

Doom and gloom aside, Havasu is in a precarious position if a bunch of comorbity cases pop up at the local ER.
Things have changed in the last week.
I’m all about free choice but there will come a point for all of us to think about the greater good vs “I’m going to do what I damn well please”
That’s my point of my post , not my town, not my problem

There's nothing wrong with the family going boating, the problem is the stupid people seeing it as it's OK for them to party on their boat with friends. You simply can't fix Stupid! Give till the end of April. All those death numbers of this and that don't matter, this is in addition to those numbers. Most will survive, but quite a few perfectly healthy people won't. Wanna be a statistic?

So I'm going to havasu to my own house with my wife and dog.I already have everything I need there . I'm going to take my boat out to a nice little beach with no one around and enjoy the lake. Where's the problem with that?I know I will have to go get gas and maybe hit the store but that's about it .After boating we will be hanging out at home grilling dinner and having some drinks. For entertainment we can play darts or watch old movies.I don't think that's irresponsible.People need to lighten up and use common sense.Yes do not hang out in large groups.Stay away from other people in public.Someday t

Wait till everyones fucking broke in two months and lets come back to peoples attitudes about this. Thats the real scary part. We are at an economic standstill. The financial pain from this is going to last for a decade if not more.

Ill pass on blowing 1k to go to the lake right now because who knows when the money crisis will turn around.

How come nobody panicked about H1N1? But everyone is shifting themselves over this?

Also just to stir it up, maybe this is the earth trying to lower our population so it can remain healthy.

The solution to global warming and drought wrapped into 1.

I see your point but not everyone is in that situation. It's certainly economically devastating for some families whose income comes from industries effected by the shutdown, but not all will be effected and some folks not at all.
