I always have cash on me. Usually $300-500. Everyday little purchases I pay cash. Bigger purchases I use my card. I carry cash so that if shit goes sideways I’ve got some on me for purchases. Plus I use it where and when cash will bring me a better deal.

$200 at all times, and I force my wife to carry $200 as well. Not only to buy stuff, but if things go sideways I think it’s enough to make someone go away and feel good about it without getting frustrated at not getting something after committing a crime.

I always use a credit card for the points, but I keep a hundred bucks in my pocket. Old habits die hard.

This debit card world we live in is going to be in for a major shock. It absolutely amazes me how many people don’t have any cash on them or even in there possession. Power outage, whatever it is, they won’t be able to get anything. I also run into deals quite often is why I always have some on me.

Always have a few hundo at least. Never really use it but like seeing it everytime I open the wallet. Kinda like a concealed carry

My parent just came back from Europe and no one now uses cash anymore. All paid by your watch or phone. Some places (hotels, restaurants ) won’t even accept cash.

Used to never have cash until a year ago when the cards from out of state did not work. Had to have our son pay a contractor’s bill for us. From that point on we opened a bank account in town and have cash available in the wallet and safe as a back up. 👍

Always carry enough cash to get home. Cannot count the times in Blythe Ca. on I-10 that a fiber optic cable would get damaged etc. When there is no internet from Palm Springs to Phoenix it is impossible to buy gas with a card. Seen twenty plus cars parked at every gas station waiting on the internet.

I have an opposite problem.

I refuse to deposit cash in the bank. However, most of my tips come in cash. My wife and I try to pay cash for as much as possible so that the pile of cash is somewhat manageable. So I always have a full wallet. lol

Always have cash! Certain things bought don't need a trail left behind. Old school swap meets, Pomona auto swap, I would never think about asking if they take venmo. I like to check out yard sales(garage). Always have cash on hand for that.

I always carry cash but dont use it very often. Its for that spur of the moment make a deal at a garage sale or emergency. Mostly use a credit card and pay it off every 2 weeks when I get paid. Just incase somebody wants to take my cash, its in the same pocket as my gun.

On my person, at least $500. Easily accessible, at least $5K, although I try to keep double that on hand. There isn’t really an alternative to throwing a stack of cash on the table when lowballing people for deals.

"Car" guys have always had cash on hand. When young, because stuff broke. As we get older, because people go broke, and we can help them out while "coming up".

Then, some of us got married. The advent of "secret squirrel money". This is money made with "come ups", which the percentage made is divided into a smaller, yet still believable, amount which is shared by the household CFO.

It's like money laundering on a smaller scale for some of us. It keeps you on your toes, but not the same repercussions as an actual mistress.

I am all cash. Haven’t had a atm card since I was 19. I will be the last hold out. Always have at least 2-3 thousand on me just incase a deal pops up. I don’t even have on line banking either. How else will I find a chance to use my cc pistol? Maybe get held up for my Venmo ? Don’t get me wrong I’m not rich but I can’t even count how many deals I have made because I was the guy with the cash in my pocket at that very minute.

Well they will be really screwed because their power will probably go out before ours.
That's not necessarily accurate I've been at a fast food place during a power outage and they were closed because their cash registers did not work. Nobody knows how to count anymore

True. So they are really going to starve. At least with cash you can buy a sandwich from a neighbor.

Question -

so if you have say $150 on you or carry with you, do you get cash once a month like - Cash a check for $1,000, 2,000 maybe 5,k and widdle that down then cash another check??

I usually get cash back after a purchase - say H depot $50 cash back

if I have say 3 jobs going on or 3 projects ( what ever) I’ll cash out 3 times one for each job so my receipts ( materials ) go to each project and then I can get cash back 3 times if I wanted or needed to.

Seems like a lot if my payments I recieve at direct deposit and I don’t go to the bank very often….

what works for you all?

Always have some on me. Paid off nicely one day. I used the iPhone Apple Pay at the grocery store and somehow it locked up the cashier's computer. Rather than stick around for the IT guy to come figure it out, I handed over the cash and went about my day. I felt bad for all the people in line behind me. LOL

I use cash whenever and wherever I can.

I carry 2-3 hundy most of the time.

I've found giving change is not a skill most people have mastered!
