He says yes , I say Dude do I look like I'm under 21 He says I have no idea how old you are . so I gimp my way out to the truck to fetch my ID . I’ve had that happen a time or two.
I usually tell them look, in balding and gray bearded.
So if I have to hobble myself back out to my truck for ID I’m just going to get in it and go somewhere else.

Mavericks in Carson City have to have your ID for tobacco, everyone. They put it through a little scanner.

Worst part was I parked way away with a boat in tow , Knees killing me and had to hike back and forth to the truck grrrrrr

A police officer told me years ago "Theres the spirit of the law and the letter of the law" Not everything requires "the letter of the law"

Terribles cards everyone, I had to buy a 12 pack for a 60 year old dude because he didn't have an ID.

Nevada just passed a law where they have to scan your ID to buy tobacco or alcohol. Seems like these cock suckers are tracking your purchases. I'm surprised we beat all of the other states to the punch.

Hell, I’m 69 and I get carded at every grocery store. Never at bars though.

The Korean barber ladies always fail to give me a senior discount though. I make ‘em give it to me every time. Then I add it to their tip. It’s a game at this point.

Curious why you guys have to go back to the truck for your ID? Do you bring $20 in the store but not the wallet? I would be Leary of leaving anything in the truck when I go in the store. Seems like smash and grab is too easy these days.

Well that explains that.
In NV a couple months ago I stopped at a gas station to grab a 6 pack and the gal carded me.
She said ID?
I said, pointing at my obviously older than her, Really?
She said she has to for everyone.

How’d you like to watch your multi million dollar investment shut down for 30 days due to one of your 100 employees selling alcohol to underage patrons. Do you turn them over to the other 99 to train them?

Yup.

Bars and dispensaries are doing the same and building databases - act like a dick and you may get black-balled from the bar.

Imagine that, a database with your pot and alcohol purchases....

Nah, insurance companies and the .gov won't try to get that info..... 👮‍♂️🤷‍♂️

My local Bevmo started requiring to scan IDs. Local Total Wines does not. At Bevmo I pointed that out and that I start spending more at Total Wines. Manager told the kid to just type in my birthday.

I’m 50 and rarely get carded. But then again mostly buy at local circle k or market. I know some places card regardless of age so I don’t bother going there.

Years ago I use to buy weekly from local rite aid cause Sierra Nevada was Always on sale. They went to carding everyone one day I forgot my wallet clerk knew I bought weekly he whispered just show me a card so it looos like I checked your Id. Was a new policy there

Last time I was carded was a bowling alley they had to enter my license into computer deal and enter everytime I got a drink to complete sale.

So the kid was doing what his boss told him to do and we bitch about it.

But when people are lazy and try to live off the gov cheese we bitch about it.

Noted....

It is Circle K's system. The cash register won't scan alcohol or tobacco sales without first scanning your id. I have to use my passport there because my CDN drivers license will not scan. Walgreens uses a similar system.

A lot of convenience stores are now as per policy, carding everyone regardless, they scan the back of the id to sell any alcohol or tobacco/nicotine products. It’s just what the store policies are not the fault of the employees. I know all Maverick’s, Circle K’s, Pilot’s and Love’s are doing it.

Then they need to post it (the policy) boldly on the front doors IMO

Why do you leave your wallet in the car? Or ID? Lol that’s smart. Do you leave the keys in the ignition as well? 😂

The Puyallup Tribal casino near us scans ID before entry. I’m pretty sure they’re doing more than just storing a record, because it sometimes takes 30 seconds or more to complete the process. My guess is they’re checking a database, though for what I don’t know. So far, I’ve always been granted entry. 😂

Well I'm now boycotting Circle K. I'm in the states and just tried buying smokes there. Chick behind the counter wouldn't take my id because she said it has to be American identification. Net she wouldn't sell me smokes. So now I'm never going there again. Walgreens and Chevron have the same system and can enter your birthdate if the id wont scan.

Are employees just looking at your ID or scanning it?
Some stores are now scanning ID's and selling info to third parties.

I moved my wallet to my front pocket. Some guy I was talking to about my back problem I have 2-3 times a year. Asked to see my wallet, took that thick wallet out of my back pocket and he said “that’s your back problem” I moved it to the front, now I have a back problem about once every 6-7 years. I still carry too much shit in my wallet… pick pocket dude will never get it out. 🤣

If you read this policy investigation forum here.
https://www.conferoinc.com/ConferoInc/Sassie/Guidelines/GL_CircleK_120111.pdf

You’ll see that if a CircleK employee fails to ask for and scan before any moneys transaction, regardless of customer’s assumed age, they will be given a red card meaning a permanent mark against there employment record which could not only be a fireable offense but also permanently ban them from being TABC licensed ever again.

Additionally there is no evidence to suggest that by scanning ID’s they become vulnerable to being exposed to identification theft given how serious large corporate companies deter all forms of liability.
OK bot... Circle K's are now essentially 100% scan which is dumb...I live in a place where the attendants know my name, hell they know my kid's name. It's a bullshit policy...just like terribles (which is why I don't trade in there..they refused to cash an elderly mans lotto ticket for not having his ID..guy was like 85.). Piss off BOT.

Carded for a lottery ticket ? That’s just stupid. Are they carding for snacks as well ? Seems like a good way to get rid of customers.

I stopped going to the places that are scanning my ID. I used to have a gas station stop off to buy beer, so I could get my wife points off for gas. The same workers that have sold me beer for years started scanning my ID. Whatever go ahead scan in, then the one dude is like I need to scan it and look at it, mother fucker you sell me beer 2 or 3 times a week. I left the beer on the counter and walked out. I have a grey beard, it's pretty easy to figure out I'm of age.

ummmm, how old do you have to be to play the lottery? I've never even thought about it. I understand casinos etc but the lottery? I guess gambling is gambling.
