How did he get that? Mine is an '02 and I got the BS notice that I'll have to pay the fees from last year as well as this year.

Nevada may be getting another motorhome registered in their state.
He simply registered it and clicked “Historical Vehicle” .
This is the second one of these I’m aware of…

Playing with fire IMO.
I have heard CARB will execute a DMV verification to verify the vehcile meets California Vehicle Code section 5004.

I decided to go with what is highlighted in yellow. My new RV will only “visit” CA for vacations.

For anyone in SD or south Riverside County, I have a good buddy that is an approved inspector for motorhomes needing smog inspection/testing. This is a side hustle for now. He also does some light duty RV servicing/repairs on the side. Garrett is a no BS dude, very mechanical and meticulous. Lives in Ramona, but will travel for RV inspection services if you setup an appointment.

I heard yesterday that California is seizing sales records from the deisel turner companies they busted and are now going after the owners of the deleted trucks. It’s a federal crime and fines start at $5k (plus the reconversion costs) and go up from there.

Has anyone else heard this?

My guess is it is only a matter of time before this spreads to other states.

From an article on line:

“Deleting a diesel isn’t just ill-advised; it’s a federal crime. Tampering with a vehicle’s emission system is a direct violation of federal law, even if you live in a state or county without annual or biannual emissions testing. If you’re caught driving a deleted diesel truck, you could face fines of up to $5,000 per non-emissions part! If you own a business selling/installing emissions defeat devices, those fines can increase to seven figures!”
The goal is to break anyone with a diesel, then come after gas. It's their way of nudging people to use public transportation, which is nearly non existent.

Or go EV which they can’t stop salivating over the per annual mileage DMV registration charges they plan to make to cover the loss of gas tax.

I am figuring all of this out; my reg is due at the end of this month.

So this is such a crock of shit, I can't help but think this is another money grab and a way to increase registration fees on older vehicles that typically have lower registration fees year over year as they age...
Last year my registraion on my 2009 Fleetwood Providence was $351...

Register MH through CVC=$30.00
Pay for inspection, which includes a visual and "opacity." Whatever the F that is=$200.00
Actual DMV Registration=$291.00
This year- $521...

The $170 increase isn't a big deal, but it's the point....What the F is CARB and this Bullshit CTC website doing with the money....? I am still going to pollute the same air in other states while my family and I continue to travel in our motorhome on the same shitty pot hole filled roads throughout this great country.

The weather is great in California; it was in the mid-70s today where I live. Unfortunately, the politics blow, and we need someone like Trump to come in and clean house, get rid of Newscum, and make sensible regulations a thing. Someone to come in and help make it all make sense.

And on top of all that, here is what an opacity test on one of these involves:

a. The operator shall move the throttle to the fully open position as rapidly as possible.
b. The operator shall hold the throttle in the fully open position until the time the engine reaches its maximum governed speed, plus an additional 1 to 4 s.
c. Upon completion of the 1 to 4 s with the engine at its maximum governed speed, the operator shall release the throttle and allow the engine to return to the low idle speed.
d. Once the engine reaches its low idle speed, the operator shall allow the engine to remain at idle for a minimum of 5 s, but no longer than 45s, before initiating the next snap-acceleration test cycle.
The time period at low idle allows the engine's turbocharger (if so equipped) to decelerate to its normal speed at engine idle. This helps to reduce the smoke variability between snap-acceleration cycles.
e. Steps (a) through (d) shall be repeated as necessary to complete the preliminary snap-acceleration cycles and the snap-acceleration test cycles described in 5.3.3 and 5.4.2.

There's a few more details, but basically stab the throttle while in neutral until the engine reaches its maximum governed RPM plus an additional 1-4 seconds. This is done 6 times...3 preliminary cycles and 3 for the actual test.

I don't know about you guys, but I don't want my engine revved to the limiter and held there for a few seconds. Can't be good for it. Almost seems like CARB is setting up a test to prematurely damage or wear out these engines to get rid of them.

Who's the resident CARB. Guy? @dribble is it? How is it they can place all these various restrictions on vehicles yet supposedly the hi Desert, Hesperia, is a smog check exempt zone according to a guy I know?
