The same people responsible for net metering 3.0 now want to force multi metered properties to sell their solar generated power to the utility first and buy electricity back at a higher rate. This is regardless if you own the panels or not.

Talk about the ultimate scam. Force everything to move to green energy. Have the consumer fund the new power generation. Make all new construction have a solar requirement. Then remove all benefit to the consumer.

Didn’t see this coming.🤔
Read that yesterday.
Get panels for free! Sell power to the utility! Never pay for power! Get a check!
Some how you just had to know there would be a screwing coming from the guberment.

Renters are one thing. Say you own a multi family and live in one unit. You buy solar panels and then they say you can't benefit from the panels you own? If you own a farm with a section devoted to power generation. Because you have multiple buildings that are separately metered you can't use your own solar?

Scam

Also let's not forget the new housing ordinances that allow adus on what was previously sfrs bet those will be required to be metered separately.

Won't this serve to drive more people to use battery banks and not share power with the utility? I generate it, I keep it, I use it, no?

Angry folks will be in the middle of town but off grid, LOL.

You hit the nail on the head. People will just move to more off grid style systems with the grid being there solely as a back up. They will continue to raise the costs for just being connected to the grid, and at some point people will just completely disconnect would be my guess.

I've got plans going through the city building department....(its been over a year!) to build two homes and two ADUs. I'm gonna have to put on solar. Even though these are going to be rentals, we have to install solar panels.

So this solar array will generate power from the sun, which I will be selling to SDGE at a low rate so they can sell back to us at peak rates? That doesn't seem like a great return on the investment I am forced to put on the building.....

That's insane. Seems almost communist. The owner pays for something, but loses a portion of their investment to the collective population. I'm not financial brain or a poly-sci major, but sure looks that way.

My dad lives in a small town 17 acres. Not tiny town but big enough to have walmart, mcdonalds, autozone, subway. The usual. He just disconnected from the grid. He has 3- 18kw batteries and 45 panels. He is plenty happy.

Newsoms sister is on the board of PG&E. The family holds enormous power company stock in ghost names. It wasn't Walmart lobbyists at the French laundry scandal,, it was power company lobbyists.

It's why the victims of the Palisades fire got the shaft on settlements and Solar powered home owners got screwed in all kind'a ways. This is further fuckery.
I see $80 credit but sold Edison $400+ in power each summer bill.

This always is/was always the ultimate goal for solar in CA. In most areas it is also illegal to divorce yourself from the grid.

In CA, or outside of CA? This is what they are going to force the well off people to do. The poors can't afford it.

I operated a 760 Mega watt elect generating plant in the '70's.
The load dispatcher would call and request to lower our load to 80 megawatts, the minimum a plant that size can run at. Can't shut down, takes weeks to restart.
"We got cheap hydro power from the North" was the reason.

Was that cheap power cost passed onto the rate payer? Hell no.
Power companies pocket the difference.

Hold that thought when you read Newsom blocking power plant construction.

It’s already happening. Companies like SolArk have seen big sales increases… batteries from companies like homegrid, storz,FranklinWH, and others are big sellers right now. I just put together a 16kw kitted job for a guy in new river. He’ll be entirely off grid as he wanted…new construction.

They'll just make a law saying that they government owns the sunlight just like the government owns the rain and you have to pay to use it.

Good thing I've got a Honda generator...

They're claiming a concern regarding health issues related to the use of PFAS chemicals in the recycled rubber backing and infill. According to an article I read, these PFAS chemicals leach out during periods of intense heat. Some groups are concerned about health issues in young children.

So yes, apparently this bill restores the individual cities ability to ban or limit synthetic turf, which apparently a bill by Jerry Brown had prohibited them from doing.

Strange this news a surprise to anyone. Private homes & neighborhoods become
“Solar Farms”. Sure is cheaper than developing 100s of acres of solar panels.
We damn lucky our neighborhoods not filling up with fucking windmills.

All part of the plan. Ruin single family neighborhoods by littering them with adus, granny flats , mother in law places or whatever cute name you want to give them. All with no regard for transportation, parking and other infrastructures.
Get everyone packed in like housing projects, living like minions.
Then, they tell you what you can and can't do with your property.
But they'll entice people to support them by giving more and more handsouts.
So very f'd, but you know, as Ca goes so does the rest. All the "glad I got out" people, watch your back, gavin is on the move.

Yet another reason I don't always trust the "science."

A few years ago the government was paying us to take out grass and put in artificial turf. Now only a few years later and artificial turf is bad and won't be allowed. How many more years until we find out these panels and windmills are "bad"? I guess when the old panels, batteries and windmill parts litter the countryside?

How do windmill arms wear out? There's only so many spins in a spinner?

Include the factor “Obsolete” along with worn out panels & windmills.

Hilary Newsom Callan is his sister. Not a fan of this asshat and there's plenty of shit to hate him for but it doesn't look like his sister sits on the board.

Someone tried to do that in Florida a few years ago. Because they refused to connect to the grid, the city attempted to condemn their home as uninhabitable. I’m not sure how the court case turned out. Does anyone else remember this?

Along similar lines, I’m surprised no one is complaining about this. Edit: I guess people are. That’s what happens when you don’t read all of the comments. Apparently others made the same connection.

It typically comes down to zoning if I’m not mistaken.

R1 lots are typically tied to the “grid” and municipalities. If you could afford it there’s ways of going “off grid” while maintaining a meter.

"We made a decision at a time when the drought was so acute," said the bill's author, state Sen. Ben Allen, D-Redondo Beach. "I think it was a rash decision, quite frankly. I understand why we did it."

My wife works for one of the largest tire recycling and crumb rubber manufactures in the country. You are correct about the "claims" and "health concerns" associated with the recycled rubber infill. She often likes to dispute the claims by simply saying "what happens to tires when they're on your car"? The product they produce removes the wire and threads then just blends the actual rubber into small rubber chips or pellets. They do not alter the rubber. If the rubber is chemically harmful the guberment should go after the tire manufactures. But they wont...

That's an excellent point. Tires are already getting blame for the environmental harm being attributed to them, so unfortunately, they're certainly high on the "What's killing us" list.
Hell, we've been out looking at artificial tur to replace our water hungry lawn, wasn't aware of these PFA concerns until I looked into why they'd consider banning the turf.

Well, guess I can add tire rubber PFAs to that growing list of shit I've consumed during my 75 years that I can put on my list of how it's a miracle I've made it this long. 🤣

I wonder at what point it will be cheaper to have a generator and battery backup instead of buying from the communist/monopoly utilities. I have one foot out the door in this state, but my utility is .41 per kilowatt. The midwest states are .07 per kilowatt. The powers that be will push until the consumers push back. The problem with CA is all the voters just vote yes on everything and complain later. At some point you would think they would start readying what they voted for.

They will ban you from going off grid. So just keep the meter hooked to the LED porch light. So you roll your own solar, generator and battery infrastructure.

So $100k plus just to live in the first world while nearly every other state pays $.10/kWh on the grid 🤣.

We pay .07. but it's going up to .09 next year. It was .06 last year.

So the renters in a multifamily units own the panels? How does that work exactly?
