Sorry, I have no mechanic suggestions for you. But I have seem similar instances as others reported. I’d also recommend as others have, a local mom and pop shop closer to town like Decatur. Decatur likely sees more out of state cars and may be more accepting. Changing plates will help a lot for the future. That’s the first thing I did.

Next was to learn highways dont start with “the”. It’s just road number (287 or I35 east, etc.) or its name and direction.

I was teasing one of the Texans that had come to California to help for not saying “the”. I asked them if they go to store or if they go to THE store. They had no words. Gonna have to get used to people using the word “whenever” instead of “when” too.

Lube center you stay in the car. Its a drive thru locally owned. Just go in with your windows down cause youll have to turn the car off. Also in springtown. Nice little drive thru coffee shop another block to the west if you want a cold drink while you wait.

They do? Where can I get one? Just picked up one for my daughter for Christmas and the free one was a 12 while they are currently on 15. So yes they do give them away for free but not the current models.

The stupid state inspections threw me off here in NH. They’re not real consistent.
Tesla was huncky doorey even with fairly dark window tint up front.
Mercedes SUV no problem.
2002 Silverado, never been in snow had just over 1000 bucks worth of made up bull shit as far as I’m concerned. I did check and they did replace parts but still.

One of the many surprises when moving here. You have to jump through all kinds of hoops to prove you’re a resident, but no vehicle inspection. Just bring in your pink, or current registration, pay your minimal fee, and you’re good to go.

We lived in the house Jeff grew up in, our kids went to the same schools we did, had some of the same teachers even. I taught some of the kids whose parents we went to high school with. Before teaching, I worked at the Staters in Sun City and Menifee for 17 years. To say we were ingrained into the fabric of the town is pretty accurate. We never had to learn how to meet friends as adults. The rest of our friends were made either on Pirate 4x4 or boating forums. When we moved to Reno we were kind of lost. Jeff was discouraged from making friends at work because he was management and I worked with a bunch of commies at school. In 7 years there, we really only made one set of friends.

So we decided to make an effort of it when we moved to Montana. The kids are here and we have some friends an hour north of us, but no one to have dinner and drinks with our age. We decided to join the pistol range and the Elks. We’ve made it a point to invite people over that we’ve only met a couple of times. So we’ve met a few new friends here. It’s very foreign for us and seems awkward and challenging as we enter middle age. In Havasu it’s a little easier as we know folks from here and neighbors at the Islander that we see so often it’s hard not to say hello and start a conversation. At home, in the confines of your safe place, it’s easy to hide away. Once you and the missus get settled, you’ve got to get out and meet people or you’ll likely always pine for your friends at “home.”

Drove down there bright and early and the parking lot was empty like the Redlands DMV used to be, I thought sweet I’ll be in and out in just a few minutes. And as I got closer, I realized I did not even see cars for the employees. I rechecked the hours on my phone and it clearly says 8 to 5 Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. Well, this is strange. Today is not a holiday. I’m going to park my car and go try the door. As I get closer, I see a note on the door it says we are closed for the holiday. What fucking holiday is there in the middle of June? Oh yeah, Juneteenth, FML.

This is the day. Company announced we were moving right as I was finishing up some home improvements that we had waited years to do. I guess that worked in our favor, the house sold fairly quickly at a reasonable price. I’ve been here my whole life save for 2 years going to school in Phoenix. Most people we talk to are excited for us. We’re both kinda sad. I started this job to leave California, but I was aiming for Havi. Life had its own plan and we ended up staying and I took a different path within the company. Now, 18 years later we’re being uprooted from all we know. We’ve said our goodbyes and are hitting the road in a few minutes. I’ll miss being near family and all that’s familiar, but I intend to embrace what’s new and enjoy the adventure (and cheap gas). Here we go!

Well, this is strange. Today is not a holiday. I’m going to park my car and go try the door. As I get closer, I see a note on the door it says we are closed for the holiday. What fucking holiday is there in the middle of June? Oh yeah, Juneteenth, FML.

You wont need to show up early. Go to the one across from tractor supply. Worst I ever seen was 5 people in line. Usually you walk in and nobody is there.

Guy at inspection place showed me in book, nothing pre 54 required. So i go to dmv they say it needs inspection! Ugg. I go home because I’m frustrated and want to look up what state law is. After 30 min lunch and internt search I go back to inspection and he just hands me a pass to make dmv happy. I go to dmv. Well now she is confused (its Texas, happens real fast) because my name is very similar to my dad who sold me the car in CA. She says I gotta get a tax assessment for value of car or some stupid crap because no bill of sale. Dad “gifted me the car after I gifted him cash”and he wrote a bill of sale saying it was a gift so no tax to be paid. After trying to explain reality to her I ho home pissed off. I write up a bill of sale saying I bought car for $100 and returned to dmv. She didnt even blink and handed me a new plate with registration.

Point of my story is the entire transaction from start to finish including lunch and several trips to inspection was 2 hours. Lol. I live a mile from 51/199

Doesn't even come close to my story about my wife's nursing license transfer. We're 3 months deep into that and still going. They sent her a 'questionnaire' and misspelled questionnaire. Not only that, but it has questions 1 - 15 but there is no question number 9. Then, about 5 of the questions are the same but worded differently and ALL of the questions could be answered by reading the transcripts they required her to send. And that's the condensed version of the story.

I was going to go to the one on the 199 when I saw they had an Aledo office just 6 miles away. Guess I'll try tomorrow.

But yeah, it is bliss in a way.
The things about IPhones that android fan boys make fun of are the things that I like.

“It’s behind android technology!”
I dont care, it does everything I need and much much more. The last thing I want or need to know is how it works!

“It’s for children!”
Good, that’s perfect for me. I tap a little picture and it does what I want.
“The camera is inferior”
I don’t care.

The reason we first got our iPhones back in 2010 or whatever was because I got tired of having my computer guy spending more time fixing our Dell and HP desk tops than I spent using them. Debbie could fuck up a computer faster than my guy could fix them.
I was a staunch hater of all things Apple, just like you, but I couldn’t really say why, it just seemed sort of like playschool stuff.
But then I finally said fuck this and I bought an Apple IMac desktop, all in one.
That was like 15 years ago or so.
As soon as I unboxed it I liked it. I plugged in the power cord and that was pretty much the extent of the setup.
To this day it is still my primary desktop computer. System upgrades were ALWAYS free. I put more Ram in it just for fun. It runs all my office programs seamlessly. (This has improved over the years)
But anyway, the most important thing was that Debbie could not fuck it up no matter how hard she tried.
After about 6 months, she talked me into giving up my Motorola flip phone and getting smart phones for us both.
It was a no brainer to get IPhone 4’s.
So it’s been Apple ever since.
I still have PC laptops for work shit, mac books are not worth the money for what I do with laptops.
Plus IOS isn’t truly onion compatible…wink wink.

But it’s always been a curiosity to me how riled up Android guys get about iPhones.
Being 2 years behind on technology is still at least 10 years ahead of me.
I simply don’t care because my current iPhone 11 is just fine and dandy.

Wise choice in Decatur is the place we go for a brisket or a slab of meat to smoke. You wont be disappointed. We buy 1/2 a cow each year from parker county beef company. Bout $2k all in. Good stuff!

Go to sams bbq in boyd. Looks like a dive but the food is spectacular. Has a bar too & live music

I did a bunch of stuff to my last place right before I left. I vowed that I’m not going without for 20 years only to fix it up for the next guy again.
