Of course it will be taxpayer funded...

NOT including operating costs, the back of the napkin ROI…. $100 ticket, 1/2 million tickets a year = 240 years. LOL

With operating costs included it becomes a forever massive taxpayer black hole never to be climbed out of.

🤡🤡🤡

The Brightline from Orlando to south Florida is almost done. Been watching them build for years. Don’t know if it’s up and running or how much it costs.
The line into WDW was under construction and facing all kinds of project political drama.

I’ve been on some high speed trains overseas, they are pretty dope. I really enjoyed the high speed trains in Spain. 60 minutes to Vegas is a game changer, but any public transportation in this country will be a ghetto experience is my thought, I don’t think I’d take that train ride unless it was expensive enough to keep the shit balls out. 😂
Equity, you BIGOT!

I know the contractor that's working on it, or getting it started. As far as I've heard they haven't started anything yet. I just don't know if it's going to be a go. Honestly I think the train from Vegas to Victorville/LA actually makes more sense than the LA to San Fran.

Isn't it only supposed to take an hour from Vegas to Victorville?

I love this place LOL,
The GOOD thing about the Raider Train is that it might help alleviate the Friday afternoon thru Suday evening congestion on the I15 through the Cajon Pass section to the I15/I40 split 😀

I’ve read it somewhere before. Something like 300k acre feet a year? A lot of water from the Columbia that just runs off to the ocean. Yore not using it. Why not sell it?
With an average flow at the mouth of about 265,000 cubic feet per second.
That's a lot of water just dumping into the big blue.

Open up one of those IV hangover things right next to the station. No one is gonna give a fuck about buying anything on the way home except maybe micheladas.

So I'm reading approx. 2/3 of that goes into the ocean, or 4 cubic acres per second.

Or 345,600 cubic acres per day. About the total amount of water Nacimiento holds every single day.

Yep. That Columbia flow equals 6 acre feet a second washed out to sea.

No power grid concerns  I read projections for the Dallas to Houston high speed E-Train, with daily use of 1,457 Mwh, the equivalent of approx 291,000 homes

According to the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) released by the Federal Railroad Administration last fall, “The Project would obtain electricity from the statewide grid, managed by Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), resulting in an overall effect on statewide energy use. The total energy (electrical) demand of the Project, at maximum, is estimated to be 531,867 megawatt-hours (MWh) per year.” That amounts to an average daily use of 1,457 MWh.
ERCOT estimates that 1 MWh can fuel the needs of approximately 200 homes per day. The train system would have the energy requirements equivalent to approximately 291,400 homes.
To put that number in perspective, El Paso County has an estimated 296,101 housing units.

200 would scare the crap out of me. As I type this I’m doing 80 into LA on a Metrolink and it seems too fast.😳

Great, more electricity usage, we can barely supply electricity now, don't charge your EV's, the train needs the power.

I spoke to an engineer today that might have some info. The train will be in and out of the median. Still not sure about Baker grade though, and it seems like they're stopping at Victorville because they have no plan on getting through the Cajon pass.

Actually, I believe that the plan is to build the station in Apple Valley at Dale Evans Parkway.

Used to drop off some paperwork at my works retirement plan each Dec.

Made a trip to the office Downtown LA on the Amtrak then transfer to the Red Line.

Hit the bar car, Drop off the paperwork hit Phillips’s, Trax bar and head back home.

NFW anymore. Dangerous

Philippe’s is fun! We take the free Dash bus from Bunker Hill for lunch. Sandwiches are a bit small these days….but it’s the whole experience that makes it worthwhile.

Want to know why this will be a subsidized money loser…

Just get rid of the TSA BS @ airports and go back to where you can show up 20 min before your flight and hop on a 40 min flight to Vegas with your regular sized deodorant and bottle of whiskey in your carry on.

Flights are so cheap. I don’t understand the draw of the train. Unless you live near the stations.

There is none. It is just virtue signaling. Planes already do everything this train will do better.

So you drive to Victorville through all the normal traffic, pay to park your car there, wait for the train, board the train, take the ride and exit the train somewhere outside Vegas, and then take a cab or Uber.

Since the drive to Victorville is likely further than any local airport for the majority of travelers, this train will need to be like $20 each way to make any sense vs. taking a plane.

I agree with all of this, I've also stated to LA would make more sense, but they have no plans through the Cajon pass.

I still think the train will be used, but the Cajon pass is still the problem.

The good news for me is I'll never be on it so I really don't give a shit.

I think the main use case will be to get to a sports game for the day.

I think it will be that, and also there's a lot of people that have family here where their family members will pick them up on Friday and drop them off on Sunday or Monday.

Not all of those people headed to Vegas on Friday are going to the strip. I used to live on the east side of Vegas and over the weekend my neighborhood was full of California plates. It worked out for me, because there was always Carne asada involved. There was like a birthday party everyweekend or some kind of Fiesta going on.

Because the libtards would not allow a pipeline, because it might damage some rare insect habitat, and, would need to go through some tribal ancient burial ground, that until now, was never recognized as a burial ground. I think it's called "Parade of Idiots".
Shit. The ocean is rising anyway. Build a pipeline and water the almond trees
Maybe if my side of Oregon (eastern) gets to become Idaho, they'll pipe it to Cali?

Exactly. Whats the point if you gotta get to Dale Evans parkways. Thats the 1.5 hour drive for me from the coast on a 3am morning bombing run. Friday afternoon, 4 hiurs if youre lucky. It makes no sense. Getting thru the cajon is the key.
