LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A high-speed bullet train from Southern California to Las Vegas is a step closer to reality.

Brightline, the company that will build the system, has announced a landmark labor agreement with the High-Speed Rail Labor Coalition, which is "comprised of 13 rail unions representing more than 160,000 freight, regional, commuter, and passenger railroad workers in the United States."

"Americans want high-speed rail, and Brightline West and the High-Speed Rail Labor Coalition will deliver," the High-Speed Rail Labor Coalition in a statement. "Brightline West will be the most elegant travel by rail experience you can have in America, and it will be the catalyst for America's renaissance of travel by high-speed rail."

The $10 billion investment is expected to create nearly 35,000 jobs during construction and over 1,000 permanent jobs once operational, according to a press release from Brightline.

The fully-electric train will be able to travel 200 miles an hour. There will be stations near the Las Vegas Strip, Rancho Cucamonga, Apple Valley and Hesperia. Construction is set to begin later this year and may be completed by 2027.

The Brightline from Orlando to south Florida is almost done. Been watching them build for years. Don’t know if it’s up and running or how much it costs.

Wait. I thought Jerry killed phase of the Colorado River Pact? Maybe in 1971?

What the time frame for ROI for 10 billion for a slow speed train?

Make it a private enterprise and keep the government out of it otherwise it’ll be like the current train to nowhere - almost 20 years and still nothing. I hope this isn’t taxpayer funded.

"Brightline is controlled by private-equity billionaire Wesley Edens, the Milwaukee Bucks owner who has funneled more than $100 million of his own money into plans for high-speed rail lines linking Las Vegas to Southern California and Orlando to Miami, funded mostly by tax-exempt bonds.

If all goes well, he predicts his trains could haul nearly 20 million passengers in 2026, generate annual revenue of $1.6 billion and operating profit of almost $1 billion a year, according to Forbes."

Why don’t they make an ALL electric highway with charging stations! So all the F’ sticks can drive to Vegas in there Tesla cars and fall asleep and let the car drive itself…..
wait wait wait …..

They can pay for it

That way The Men can drive our coal burners and get there safely

They need to hire Mufi Hannemann to oversee this future debacle, better yet hire the entire HART board, they've done so well on the train to nowhere in Hawaii @HNL2LHC right?? They can show them how to spend over 10 billion in less than 15 miles....make absolutely sure you order the cars before the first form is ever laid down btw...thats how the smart people do it! SMH

CA has those geniuses beat. 15 years, $105 billion and 49 miles are complete in the bustling metropolis of Central Valley CA.

And they already saying 2030 or later to get that portion operational
The CAHSR system is currently being implemented in phased segments. The first of the dedicated HSR segments, the Interim Initial Operating Segment ("Interim IOS"), is being constructed now in the San Joaquin Valley portion of California's Central Valley. It will run from Merced to Bakersfield, and is planned to begin operations in 2030 (or slightly later).

We have made plenty of trips to Vegas over the years. Man oh day, did Covid and the stimi checks screw things up. That place is such a shit hole now with all of the trash. You'd be better off saving your money and walking around the streets of Compton or Watts to enjoy the same crowd. 🙄 The ONLY reason we even go back is so my wife can enjoy some time in the casinos. That's pretty much it.

Was in Honolulu this past week. Trains running but still no passengers. Then you have the power line prep on Dillingham. so just hack off 5 miles of the route. But that is the part in Honolulu. Total joke!!!

I’ve been on some high speed trains overseas, they are pretty dope. I really enjoyed the high speed trains in Spain. 60 minutes to Vegas is a game changer, but any public transportation in this country will be a ghetto experience is my thought, I don’t think I’d take that train ride unless it was expensive enough to keep the shit balls out. 😂

Why should we in the northwest supply water to Southern Cal?
Because it wasn't your water to begin with, since water can't be owned? As a "Northwest" resident, do you consume any products that are produced outside of the northwest region?

If so, why should anybody else send you consumable products if you are claiming that we should'nt get some of the fresh water that the Pacific Northwest region gathers and ultimately sends to the ocean?

Can’t manipulate the sheep if they give up their hold on water.

Water has been used forever as a way for the power brokers to enrich themselves

Watch the movie tank girl to see where komifornia water is headed

Do you want all those Californians moving to the PNW once they run put of water?

How many millions of gallons of water dump into the ocean from the Columbia every day? Would it be missed if some of it is redirected south?

Plus, your state could generate revenue by charging CA for water and reduce your tax burden. Oh, I forgot OR and WA are liberal states so they will never reduce taxes!🤣

I’ve read it somewhere before. Something like 300k acre feet a year? A lot of water from the Columbia that just runs off to the ocean. Yore not using it. Why not sell it?

A Vegas train was in the works and dedicated track was laid to and through the Cajon pass. Spanish tilt trains almost ordered.

Trains had a night club, various slop chutes and bars. Nice view seating too.

The same environmental group that got most of Glamis closed also got the Vegas train cancelled. The CBD.
