Quick, buy some of those 2 acre $20k lots out there and build race car storage - barndominiums.

Great idea, but Yucca?🤮 Who's going there? Sounded great until you said that. Kinda like the race track just outside of Desert Center, location is everything.

Yucca is no more than 45 min from Havasu. How far did people drive to get to LACR? How far do people still drive to get to Fomoso?? Let's throw Irwindale in there too, and now you have traffic to deal with. Mesa Marin was a hot spot for a wile too.

For the trip state area, I don't see this failing. I hope it doesn't take away from Havasu 95 Speedways crowd, not just spectators, but participants as well.

If we can get some boat action up there then that's another bonus! A water ski style lake would probably work 👍👍 Cool to see this develop.

the track in desert center is booked 52 weekends an year so not doing bad out there.
Isn't it mainly just booked with car clubs? I don't know of anyone who just goes for a few hours to watch, but maybe I'm wrong.

Every person that wants to go to a racetrack will go there :)

Chuckwalla is booked all the time except the summer lol.
Isn't it booked all year with car clubs? Not 100's of people coming to watch races and drink beer?
I'm just saying if you build a track like this close to a town like Havasu your going to get WAY MORE spectators.

You can have a longer track and race shorter for the record.

In the thousand foot racing in top fuel came about because of the death in Denver because of the short ass track with a very short shut down. If that track had been longer that guy might have lived. Food for thought.
It was Scott Kalittas death at Englishtown in 08, not Denver. Most of the big tracks were built before these fuel cars were going 300 mph and the shutdown is much shorter.

This is your typical RDP thread. Karl comes in here with some really good news that he’s excited about, and it’s only a matter of time and people start shitting on it. So it’s not in Havasu proper, so it’s not a 1/4 mi strip. It’s still awesome that it’s being built. Good on you Karl.

40 miles! I'm just saying if it was in Havasu it would go off. I wish it all the best.

Yeah 40 miles is pushing the limit on deciding to trailer or drive a car to the track. I drove to Autoclub the other weekend but won't drive up to Willow Springs.

Either way this is badass!

I know the worc’s race was at crazy horse last weekend. Good turn out
Pretty easy to do better than crazy horse. SxS track, moto, kids track. It could do well. If they cover all the bases then they can stay busy most of the year.
a Lake Dolores water park included and it’s a hit a year!
or snow bird rv sites with shuffle board 😁

the current trend is for the 1k' tracks because it is what the NHRA top fuel classes run now and eventually where all classes are heading due to speeds, with the 1/8mi being the trending standard for the pro mods and lower classes. you kind of have to do what all the sanctioning bodies want if you want to be a sanctioned track ;)

No you make a 1/4 mile track and they can set the lights and traps at the 1000' mark, 1/4 mile mark and or 1/8. Don't short change the track use. I have zero interest in 1/8 or 1000' racing.

I will say this...

I LIVED at Irwindale when I was a kid. (There real Irwindale Raceway, not the pos that is there now).

Tuesday night was Speedway. Wednesday night was bracket racing. Thursday was testing. Friday and Saturday were qualifying and Sunday was racing.

There was something going on just about every night of the week, and it was always a blast.

It gave us dumb kids something to do pretty much all of the time.

Pomona and Vegas get 2 top fuel races a year?

Food for thought. Congrats on an awesome project!

👍

" on the south side of the I40 a couple miles east of franconio wash exit "

This is where Karl, in post # 22 revealed it's location. This places it more like 25 miles from Industrial in LHC, because the Franconia Exit is only a couple of miles east of the 95 & I40 junction.
The important question is, can you get there in your SxS, the Havasupian's favorite mode of transportation ---- and it appears that's doable 👍👍👍

We raced motoX at Irwindale every week also in the 70's.

I thought they had motoX there too, but I wasn't 100 percent positive, so I left that part out.

I probably watched you ride at some point.

Loved that place. Broke my heart when they tore it down.

I loved Irwindale, it was the closest track to me but I made the most money racing at OCIR. On bracket night they would have a $100 prize if you ran dead on your dial in (win lose or draw for the actual race). I would take my daily driver down there and run brackets with it. The car only ran 15:20 but if you cut the light right it would do it nine times out of ten so I would get in the line up as many times as I could in one night. I made more with that car than I did racing G-Gas.

Karl, cool stuff. I look forward to watching the updates and progress. I think it will do well there.

Not to side track the thread, but what is the deal with the course south of Stagecoach Trails Ranch? Seems like it was very much on its way to being a nice location / course. How do you get that much funding and far along in something and then just abandon it?

I am about to give you all a Christmas present:) sort of...LOL
we'll other than my 16-18 hour days trying to keep up with Havasu's Crazy building boom with 6 builders and 3 major sub-divisions, I have been filling my 2am-4am time slot with this.......The Mohave County Motor Sports park yes it's happening, The red tape has been cut and we are moving forward on what I hope to be a premier motorsports park when we are done. The land is Acquired, rezone to motor sports use approved, civil and site plans in the design process now. I am excited to keep meeting racing's elite for their input and guidance and hopefully get them excited about it as a place they want to come race. So far we have dual 1kft drag strips, road course, dirt course(SXS and M/C), short course, small ovals for the midgets and legends and so on, the current design may change greatly as sought out professional input and guidance suggests.. please note the key words here "PROFESSIONAL INPUT" LOL, attached is a screen shot from my PC so you know it's real, those that know me know I am a straight shooter and those that really know me know I wouldn't waste a second on something I didn't already know has a profitable out come. it's going to take a few years and this maybe my last big project before retirement but what a way to end with crowning achievement like this and something I am so passionate about, when your skill set and hobby cross paths only good things can come of it. SO HERE IT IS REV1 OF THE MOHAVE COUNTY MOTORSPORTS PARK.

On a completely unrelated note...

A few years ago you were talking about a project that had zero lot lines with deep garages with small apartments on the second floor.

Did anything ever come of that? Were any built?

The Lord called someone home. like I said long story but the sort version is that has turned into this with a much bigger more commercial vision to service the needs of the entire county not just a select few and that much asphalt can provide something we are missing "fair grounds"

Lets ee, been here now for 21 years and heard all sorts of stories about race courses but they fizzled out. So lets hope this works out Karl, WE NEED IT SO BADLY. Good luck 🤞
