A long time friend drove boats for red adair back in the day. They met at the old Bayshore boar club. The boat was called "Rojo Grande." Red had a place on clear lake and was the main force behind getting the unlimited boats to run there back in the day. Dad got to be on one of his boats and red had a dispenser that dispensed whiskey, gin, Vodka, and Scotch.Love your post, Tank! This guy is the shit to me as well. A true badass that loved to boat to! I'm sure somebody on here has a story to share about Red?
I wonder where all of his boats are now?

I feel like that is missing the old Stinger Ignition company, though not sure how old what you posted is.

The boat pictured very well could be I think.Just noticed this reply. Hmmm. Makes me wonder if this 71' Hallett is the same 104, "Vitamin K"...
I'm sure it's not. Mine has ski race lineage exclusively as far as I know.

Righthand steering, early pinch style seats and the motor placement looks right for a circle boat of that period. If you know where it is, let’s find it and set it up for the Enduro!
Come by anytime!@Clank123 I had sent you that photo last year when the previous owner sent it to me finally, asking if it jogged a memory. You said I should ask @twocents if he is familiar. I may as well use this opportunity to ask him if he recalls seeing it run.
Also, I'd love to tow it down one of these days so you can take a look but you might laugh me out the cul-de-sac
Come by anytime!
Love to see it!
Back in the late 1960s while racing our jet boat (ski racing, circle racing and drags) I was a total believer in "Super Glide" -- it let me run a little harder in the corners and was a mile or two faster on the top end. Super easy to apply -- just spray it on, let it dry for about an hour and then rub it down (burnish it) with a clean towel. Basically it was liquid graphite in a spray can. I even painted the inside of the jet pump and nozzle with it too.
Another prime example of a wasted opportunity by the City of Long Beach. "Sea Festival" had all the ingredients necessary for a month long spectacular summer boating event for Long Beach but they fumbled it away. The only thing that survived is the Catalina Water Ski Race (now in its 75th year) -- Smartly the host (Long Beach Boat & Ski Club) resisted the temptation of turning control of the ski race over to Long Beach City which would have certainly been the kiss of death just like the demise of boat drags, circle/sprint boat racing and offshore.

We did ski racing in the mid to late 90s with a jet and there was a product Martie Wells turned us on to called Hyspeedkote. Basically a hydrophilic compound you sprayed on the bottom of boats, skis etc. despite the fact that we though it was sort of bunk, if Martie’s was promoting it we did it anyway.Back in the late 1960s while racing our jet boat (ski racing, circle racing and drags) I was a total believer in "Super Glide" -- it let me run a little harder in the corners and was a mile or two faster on the top end. Love the old eliminator ad. They actually started the business in Huntington Park behind my parents dry cleaners.
Yeah Graphite Speed Coat was definitely a thing back then!We did ski racing in the mid to late 90s with a jet and there was a product Martie Wells turned us on to called Hyspeedkote. Today I’d say the hassle wasn’t worth whatever the promise was.
Long live the Catalina Ski race!
I've seen the same thing with car events where a club grows an event to success and the city takes over it goes to shit. Hell, Billy turned the Rt. 66 Needles show over to the city and we all know where that got us.
I’m sorry to say this will probably happen. Had some great memories racing the K boats with the NDBA starting in the early eighties. Huge crowds and all night party on the hill! But as the years went by more housing was being built closer and closer to the track and like Long Beach Marine Stadium the noise complaints get noticed at council meetings and city hall. When fatalities happen the city reacts because of liability at a city property. It’s been a couple years since I was at Ming and the housing built so close to the track I knew this would eventually happen. Like all the dragstrips and other racing venues in California Lake Ming will become a happy memory for many of us.View attachment 1382164
Now we have Lake Ming to worry about!
Not only have homes been building up around there for years, but in the last 2 NJBA races, there have been 2 drivers killed.
I was told there will be discussion at the next council meeting in Bakersfield about the future of racing events out there.
Be so sad to lose this venue.
Organized Drag boat racing was started down river at Hart Park.
So many memories out there!
I guess it’s inevitable…sad.
If anyone has any updates, let us know.
Saw a lot of different boats and hull designs during the 60's, but never knew about his one.
Well all things being era relevant, during the early 60's at mile-high Lake Arrowhead, we were stoked to push that Chris "Woody" to a thrilling 40mphUnique but a disappointing top speed of 45 mph.
