How about older than 40 years. Earliest picture is outboard at Bass Lake 1965. Newest is Campbell early 80's. View attachment 1321814 View attachment 1321815 View attachment 1321816 View attachment 1321817 View attachment 1321818
That "Finish Line Engineering" wasn't that the now deceased RDP member AZGeorge ? Or his father ?
That's Mike Wallace of later Rayson Craft Marathon fame in the middle position. Their Lake Arrowhead homes were close as we're their docks back in those days.
Speaking of "old" where's Wheeler?
In 1956 a new 21' Cobra like this one, replaced the aging early 50's 19' Racing Chris Craft my dad and his buddy used for water ski racing, including the CSR several times.
Hi Jerry: thanks for the compliments -- those were fun (and very busy) years. I hit my breaking point in the first quarter of 1979 -- in order to make print deadlines for January and February '79 issues, I had to write almost 50 boat tests in 46 days (no time off for Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Years).Ford Hemi GN 1974 Thanks for the great work all those years ago Twocents!

Mark Spencer was a lifesaver (excellent writer and great photographer). I hired him on a part-time basis when he was just starting Pepperdine University as a journalist and photography major. Glad he was around to take over my spot when I left Powerboat in April 1979.
This "Hot Boat of the Month" feature I did brings back a lot of memories -- When I first met Jeff Blosdale, he was a mobile marine mechanic working Marina del Rey and Redondo Beach (King Harbor). He built my offshore race boat at least 6 or 7 engines over a five year span and they were 'killer'. I'm sure a few of the RDP loyalists knew him a few years later when he moved his shop to Lake Havasu off of Lake Havasu Ave. Very sad that he passed away at a very young age.
This is the strut on my Dad's wood decker 63 Spit Fire. He stopped using those water pick up as they always got something stuck in them.
Yea, I’m not a fan of them, but, I did use the strut pick up on these 2 as that’s what came on the boats originally. This is the strut on my Dad's wood decker 63 Spit Fire. He stopped using those water pick up as they always got something stuck in them.

Reminds me of the African Queen.
The Denver Boat Show, Jan19-21...your welcome!Where was this event? Thanks for sharing!
What's the story with this Lucas injection setup? I've never seen anything like that, almost like a fuel spider, or maybe a rotary style?
