White coat high BP is real , My wife is a perfect example , Shes petite, eats healthy doesnt drink or smoke , exercises and her BP is consistently low (at home with state of the art BP monitor) But her records are even annotated that she has "white coat syndrome" Mine is also high at the DR but less high at home and is relativley low in the evening and I take 3 meds . Like said get a good home monitor and follow directions the if necessary take the recorded "records" to the DR and show them. BUT mine before meds earned me a "life flight" a few years back so awareness is everything. EDIT I started on Cialis a few months back which seriously lowers BP and has other benifits too 🤷‍♂️

"Labile Hyperattention" = White coat
My buddies dr just put him on cialis too. I thought he was kidding but he wasn’t.

So I’m going to keep this kind of short as I don’t really have a lot of info and honestly it scares me. I had a fever for over 8 days and a real bad headache. I ended up going to urgent care Sunday and they sent me to ER. Spent all sunday hooked up to an iv running fluids and antibiotics. Long story short when I got there my blood pressure was 190/90. I don’t really know but I guess that’s not good. They asked history and I told them my grandma died of a brain aneurysm and my dad his highblood pressure and is on medication. My dad is bad but that’s another story. Anyways when I left the hospital I was 160/90 which they still weren’t happy with. So…. They said if I can’t get it figured out on my own I need to go on medication. My question for those who deal with this how do I get it back down? I’m starting this thread because I have several people who really care about me who are really concerned. I’ve tried to just play this off like I’m fine and it was just a weird headache but everyone keeps telling me this is a silent killer and they aren’t going to watch me let it go untreated. Now that this has been brought to my attention I know I’ve had several times where I’ve almost passed out and been very shaky and dizzy but I just wrote it off as being tired and pushing too hard or just nerves because of baseball games or whatever. If I’m being honest I’m a little scared now that I’ve been playing with fire and I just try to push through.
How’s your sleep? Are you getting enough good sleep? That can elevate it as well.

You may have something else going on like has been stated a few times.
But if you have hereditary issues and other factors it’s even more important to do what you can day to day.
I still eat pizza! But I make it at home from scratch with real ingredients.
I still eat burgers! But I make them at home with lean beef from the meat store.
I’m on my second bottle of water as we speak. I had my one double espresso mocha (that I made) already.
Thinking 2 eggs and dry toast in a few minutes.

You don’t even want to know what a double whopper w/ cheese add bacon looks like on paper. 😳😳
I used to live on those things.

I can’t sleep well at all anymore. I toss and turn violently all night. Never feel rested and bags under my eyes. I’m also only laying in bed 5 hours or so if I’m lucky. So that probably needs to change. I’ll have to start learning to say no

Weight isn't always a factor, I'm 5'8" 218, I have a decent amount of muscle but could lose 15-20 and I would look pretty damn good.
Almost the same. 5’7”
My fighting weight back in the day was 185 or so.
I’d have to be dead a week to be the 150 pounds the charts say I should weigh.

So I’m going to start with a lot of what’s been said. I’ll admit I don’t drink water. I had quit drinking soda but that lasted maybe a month and now I’m back to fuck 4-6 a day. Plus my 4-6 cups of coffee. I normally eat waba grill for lunch everyday and fast food for dinner after baseball. Usually skip breakfast. I’ve always felt invincible like someone mentioned. I’m on the field with the kids showing them I still got it but honestly it’s caught up to me. I’ve called a couple offices this morning trying to see who can see me first. I have the monitor ordered it will be here by 5pm. My fever has been gone since Sunday but I think I can feel when my blood pressure is high. Headache I get tingly and a little dizzy. I’m going to start drinking water right now because I feel dehydrated already

I also drink I’d say close to a half gallon of milk a day. I LOVE choc milk. Maybe even more than soda. Like right now I’m thirsty I’d love a giant class of choc milk but I’m going to do water instead

Vic,

Been there..it bit me in the butt at about 40.
I would suggest you wean yourself off of caffeine...I did it cold turkey and the headaches were a mofo. Working nights I would wake up about 10 am, make a pot of coffee and do some work around the house. After the coffee a few cans of diet pepsi, then off to work at 4pm. once there make a pot of coffee for briefing. A couple cups at briefing.
Last coffee at about midnight.
Home at 3am.
Repeat. For years.

Now, a cup of decaf in the am...no pepsi, no soda at all... lots of water, some Propel when out working in the yard. It took time to get used to the new program, but I did it.
I am not completely alcohol free. like you are...but I will go months without a beer.
Get off the caffeine for sure.
Exercise is important, what you are doing between your ears is important too. Less time stressing about work. When you go home put work in a box in a corner of your head and close it, focus on wife, kids, self. Again, it takes time to get your head sorted, but you can do it.

Diet is huge...limit the junk food man...I know you are on the go a lot but you have to feed the machine better. Others have covered this so I will leave it at that.
You are young, you can slow this down and fix it. The fix will be a combination of all the stuff you have heard and will hear. If you have High BP in your family you may wind up on low dose meds...it isn't the end of the world. Take care of yourself, ya got a lot of living left to do.

I travel around 22-25 weeks out of the year. Looks like I’m going to have to start hitting the grocery stores when I get there. That’s going to be tough. Maybe I talk to work about it and say it’s killing me 🤷‍♂️

Search around your area for an IV hydration place. You may just need an IV bag here and there if you’re struggling to drink water.

Drinking water exclusively after having sodas all day will be hard. Just because it doesn’t taste all that great. Maybe add a little bit of Gatorade just for flavor. But not the whole bottle.

Be sure to mention that to the doctor. That can be a big factor as well.
Your not old, but on your way.😁 Maybe try to take a couple of minutes to stretch at night before bed.
You got a busy, hectic life, in a good way. But you might need to say no, and take a break from something. Good things can cause bad stress.

I think get yourself relatively under control first. Might just be taking this week easy.

You can get all different kind of apps for grocery stores etc. To the point you could make your order and they have it waiting for you in a fridge at the front. Now whether you can cook in your hotel etc is another story.

I think this is why diet is so hard. You almost structure your diet around your life. And breaking that habit isn’t easy.

obviously I need to be asking a dr but do you think it’s possible to change my diet and stay off medication.

Yes. Absolutely.

But you need a diet you can stick with!

1. Get your blood work done and see what the numbers have to say. This is job one.

2. Watch this series. You'll learn a Lot! It's all about longevity.

3. Start reading.

Just like engines, we are all built differently. You have to figure out what works for you.

You got this! 👍🏼

Sodium follows water but you do need sodium to survive, without sodium heart function stops, it's a ballance. Look up "Sodium potassium pump" don't go full tilt no salt

True.
When I was working for the water well outfit a few years back I made tortillas roll ups each morning for my lunch.
I was the supervisor so a lot of days Id run and get burgers or pizza for the younger hard working hands.
It was not easy eating my own lunch with those 3 large pizzas sitting there!
But there comes a time in life when what you “should” do becomes what you “have” to do.

Everyone here can offer advice, but the bottom line is you need to go see a cardiologist, a professional, who can set you on the right course FOR YOU . Get a EKG and stress test you could have underline problems that are causing the high blood pressure, it’s the silent killer !!

Yeah dude, you’re going to have to make some changes. My friend John used to say “Water is life”. You got to drink more water and cut back on soda and coffee.

Waba is healthy, minus the sauce, full of sodium.

Make your lunch in the morning, no fast food. Your day just got better by not having to go get lunch, what a waste of time, when an employee shows up with his lunch pre made I know he's here to go to work. It takes 5 minutes to make a couple of sandwiches and slice some fruit up. Saves a shit ton of money as well. As far as HBP, about a year ago I was at the dentist and my BP was 165/96, I'm 61 and never had HBP before. I've been on 5mg of liprinisol for the last year, it's a small dose that I wish I didn't need, but better safe than sorry. My guess that at your age a few lifestyle changes and some stress management and you will not need medication. I check my BP once a week to make sure it's staying in the 125/82 range, sometimes a bit higher because of stress or a weekend of too much fun. Sounds like you are taking it seriously and will get it under control.

Diet is everything. When I'm on point my life feels better. My body feels better. Honestly they are killing us with what they feed us. Exercise is important. But abs and health are made in the kitchen. When I didn't have a family maintenance was easy. Fast life and kids make the constant discipline hard.

But you can manage it with diet and water. Lots of water! If you think you drank enough for the day. Drink another big glass.

Sleep, rest is important for our bodies and something we all neglect and helps with stress, which as you can imagine plays havoc on your BP.

Good luck, I'm pulling for you and no meds. We are the same age and my dad's been on BPmeds since I can remember. This is something I work at. I don't want to end up like my dad. Success wise sure he was killer, but he neglected himself. I don't want that to be me. I don't want my kids having to take care of me.

being dehydrated plays a huge role in blood pressure. Gotta drink a lot of water.

that is way too much soda and coffee... also chocolate milk is way high in sugar. Wabba is pitched as healthy, and it is compared to bruger king.... but if you're saucing it up, that is a ton of sugar, soy and sodium.

I think you'll be surprised how much more regulated your blood pressure will be when you get that stuff cut out. Manage the diet, and learn to manage the stress better. It'll change a lot.

on the sleep subject... with that much caffeine going on... you'll never get good sleep. In my younger days, I could slam a monster or redbull and go straight to bed.... not anymore lol. It's all related. Cutting out that much caffeine will help your BP... it will also help you sleep, which in turn also helps your BP.

For sleep, if you are looking to try something a bit more natural... get some magnesium (glycinate) take 1-2 before bed... it'll help a lot (for most people)

OK that's a MAJOR!!!!!! sign right there, the tired could be as simple as lack of vitamin D2(common thing in the desert) look at your legs are they both the same size around the ankles if the left is bigger go directly to hospital if not try sleeping sitting up tonight and kill your liquid intake to no more then 2 16oz bottles of water a day, take your finger and push it into the inside left leg a couple inches above the ankle, does it leave a dent? that is called edema if so go directly to the hospital it's caused by poor blood flow from a clot or weak heart. it really sounds like you need a CT scan with contrast and a echo cardiogram, time is not on your side YOU MUST ACT NOW!!!!! "F" BHC go directly to Kingman, you do not have time to find a primary GO NOW!!!! your body is telling you by not being able to sleep, if your short of breath turn the computer off and GO NOW!!!!! I suspect you have a clot or congestive heart failure GO NOW!!!!

My wife's family all run high BP, It stared out with 8 kids, down to 5 now. Oldest is 74 or 75
This has work for some of them that try, the others just relay on med's..
The family had to make a few lifestyle changes..
When we get together for holiday meals you can tell who trying to control their BP..
The family has change the diet from store pre made food, junk food to a heart-healthy diet the doctor recommended. Which was to reduce, completely remove or get rid of salt when cooking. This takes time to get used to the taste of food.
Doctor said to add more fruits, vegetables, to the meals etc. Most of the women have done this.
Some go to a gym, others exercise at home others go to the bar for food and cold beverage.
Most are at a healthy weight and are doing ok, 1 or 2 others not so good.
Some have change the amount of alcohol they drink, others have not and are still on med's.
Hardest thing to do for some was trying to quit smoking. I think there's only 1 left.
Forgive and forget time, Chill time everyone needs this, try to reduce stress and get enough sleep. Hard to find time, but it helps.
Old Blues Song - Live the life you love. Love the life you live..
We all have an expiration date. Realizing that alone should make us appreciate our life, our friends, our family, and the little things in life a little bit more.

I’m almost 63 yo now.
I haven’t gone through a fast food line more than 5 times in the last 5 years or so. Each time I regretted it.
Rarely do I eat out anymore, and if I do it’s usually a salad, maybe ahi, or a small sirloin.
I don’t run the whole menu like I used to. 😂😂
To look at me you’d think “holy shit there’s a diabetic disaster of a pending heart attack”…but the truth is much different.
My BP is constant 115-68 or 70. The only time it’s ever been close to 150 was when I got booked into jail high 25 years ago. My cholesterol is at the bottom end of the scale.
My GP calls me “shockingly normal”.
She says most of her much younger patients are on BP and cholesterol meds and can’t get to my numbers.
It’s funny, they look at my blood work, then look back at me like “WTF? Is this the same guy?”
If you start reading labels and look at the saturated fats, sodium, etc compared to proteins you’ll very quickly come to realize the absolute shit that we consider as food.
You don’t even want to know what a double whopper w/ cheese add bacon looks like on paper. 😳😳
I used to live on those things.
double whopper w/ cheese add bacon, haha that was the good old days when I was going to live forever..

Its good you have recent blood test, DO NOT TAKE MEDS, do these things for a couple months and go back test again.
Here are 4 things that can help as well as put some $ back into your wallet,
1, Watch free on YouTube, The Earthing Movie.
2, If your mentally strong. On Amazon prime, Fasting the healer within.
3, Start drinking Distilled water. it helps clean out excessive calcium in your arteries.
4, Switch to sea salt or Himalayan salt. Table salt is poison.

We have earthing/grounding pads in our bed and pillow.
We personally practice OMAD "one meal a day". Start with intermittent fasting 16/8 for 2 weeks than go to 18/6 for 2 weeks, than 20/4 than OMAD.
I go multiple days with out food all the time now for fun and feel great. The record fast is almost a year.
I filter my water with Berkey or distiller. Add back daily electrolytes.
I only eat sea or Himalayan salt and add it to everything.

I never eat fast food its posion, id rather fast.
i never eat candy, its poison, id rather eat dates,
i never eat soy and its in almost everything. Soy is poison fo men reduces testosterone. Ever heard of soy boys?

Find the time to walk, do some sort of cardio on a regular basis. Buy a BP machine. Maybe your Doctor will prescribe one. Monitor on a daily basis.

If for some reason I miss the gym for say two weeks I can see the difference when I start back up. BP and Pulse are difenitly higher. Takes about 2-3 visits to get close to what I consider normal.

Try to avoid BP meds. If necessary take them. Forgot to mention I'm really old.

It's already been said about 40 times, but reduce the salt intake.

Also switch over to drinking water whenever you can. If there's a choice between a soda or coffee and drinking water instead, take the water.

Also, try breathing more deeply and smoothly more often. That sounds weird, but longer deeper breaths on a frequent basis helps the body absorb more oxygen and in turn helps reduce blood pressure.
Stop table salt its poison. instead sitch to Sea salt or Himalayan salt and increase it. Brain fog and feeling wore out/ tired is casued by low electrolytes. Especial here in AZ. I add these salts to my water.

being dehydrated plays a huge role in blood pressure.

I was gonna say, Waba is easy to make your own healthy version and pack it up in meal prep containers.

Good advice above, find a primary Dr, get a referral to a heart Dr and get a full work up.

I was feeling funny three years ago and my primary Dr referred me to a heart Dr. He did a full work up which revealed some indicators for afib. Next thing I know he's putting a loop recorder in my chest and put me on blood pressure medicine. A month later I passed out at Lowe's and the recorder gave him the info he needed to zap the part of my heart that was causing the issue. Today I have no issues, but still get checked out yearly.

Don't mess around with heart stuff.

Damn Vic. Your to young for those issues. Cut the coffee and sodas. Try and drink a gallon a day of water. I would be so dehydrated if I drank that much shit.

The salads at El Pollo loco are pretty good. Fast food will also kill you.

Half gallon of chocolate milk? Holy crap! We know you're not lactose intolerant 🤣
On a serious note, that has both sugar and caffeine. As for sodium intake, look at the labeling on the cans...sodas are very high in sodium as well.

When I was your age (in my old man voice), I'd drink a thermos of coffee by 10, a Monster at lunch with leftovers, another Monster on the way home and 4-6 sodas at home. I'd drink 2-3 gallons of water a day, to replace the sweat. I was invincible! At 46, not so much.

Another thing about keeping track of BP. Make a note at the end of the day about what happened, what you did or ate. We did that for my son to keep track of trigger events and such. You may find a direct connection to work, diet, illnesses...stuff you may be too busy at the time to think about.

I had a heart attack at 43. My blood pressure was usually 170/something and I just ignored it. Also had high cholesterol. Ended up with an almost complete blocked right artery, so had a stent put in.

I'm on a bunch of meds, but fairly low dose blood pressure meds. I ate like shit before. I do about 1/2 a cup of coffee in the morning.

Sodium is the big one....start reading labels and you'll realize that everything is crap. I grill up some chicken breasts, slice one into 2, season the shit out of 'em with garlic powder and everything else I can find without salt in it, then stick a piece of chicken between a couple pieces of sourdough bread (not the best, but better than some) with mustard and a piece of cheese and call that lunch. Lots more fish and veggies and fruits, not so much red meat (cholesterol) and my blood pressure now hovers on the high end of normal....or somewhere between 130/85 and 110/65....depending on how much shit I've dealt with that particular day.

I’ve been on Amplodamine for about 6-7 years i love it. Helped my temper as well.
