Saw a video where a 5th wheel was stuck in the water at Pismo.
Some great videos of dumbasses at Pismo washing out to the Big Blue. Always funny when people are shocked by it,but I’ve been seeing that stuff since I was a kid in the 70’s-80’s.

Damm....those are some nice waves. Is Jersey known for having good or big waves? Excellent shot in the curl, did you take that?

That is thought to be the biggest surf they’ve ever seen. I’m in SW FL, the pics are screen shots off a you tube vid titled 12-18-23 Ryan Mack film. He also has some pretty awesome footage from New York from a trop storm swell that looks like back door pipeline.

The Dunes, out on the spit in front of Morro Bay, were taking hits. That’s different., This must have been one big F’n Pacific storm. Have to wonder, what the sea conditions were within that storm. How many miles offshore was it and when? Mavericks to So Cal is a long stretch of beach.
Oh its down in Baja too..... vid to follow

I’m guessing 10-15’ sets in Ventura right now. Heard the swell
Out behind the channel
Islands is 40’! Looking out towards the island I’m guessing they’re 30’. In the pic above that’s the swell, not the islands!!
Time for a Cig run! You could do one of those Donzi jumps like that old video everyones seen. Ouch

Shows how much the islands protect the mainland
Thats an interesting and informed comment. When I first began running my boats from Newport to Catalina I discovered there are basically three types of water in most crossings; When you leave / when you are mid channel [shipping lanes] and finally when you are maybe 5 miles outside island. That last leg is the sweet spot where you can fly. The swells always appear to come from the west outside the island and the island blocks swells until they come back togther as they continue towards mainland. Pretty cool.

That White House on the cliff in front of you is pretty fuckin bad ass!!
Thats actually a compound with several separate homes a family owns. Usually empty but I was cracking up watching a Mexican guy with a squeegy working those windows on that deck getting pummeled by spray.

I wouldn't know how it is today, other than a few fishing trips to Cabo in the early 90's, I've had my fill of Beaner Town, despite having found true lust one night in 1966 at the old Cantamar Trailer Park --- OoooooLaLa baby 😍😍😍 Could have been an awesome night had I not got hauled off to that damned Rosarito Beach piece of shit jail. 😭🤣

No on item # 2 ---- Odds were great until Jailus-interuptus
In truth the whole story would have made a great movie script. Best told over cold beers 🤣

A few years back the powers that be dredged the break. Changed everything from off shore CI harbor to considerable distance north.

You talking about the dredging of Channel Islands harbor? They do it every other year. Starts in about November and goes through Marchish. Army corp of engineer is in charge of the dredging. It was a deal
Made when the county put the harbor in. Between the port Hueneme harbor and the channel island harbor disrupting the natural flow , it causes port Hueneme beach to lose sand and sand to build up at Channel Islands harbor and Hollywood beach in front of the break wall. Usually creates a sand point way out towards the break wall. So, they come and dredge it and send all the sand back every two years. Cuts the beach waaaaaay back.

You can see the beach point before the dredge and the dredged below from past few years.

It was just a few year back and I rolled into the Rudder Room at 6 AM with a big box of giant breakfast Burritos Alice sent.

Surfer "Big Wave Dave" opened and was bartending and his surf friends were there too waiting for the sunrise.
They mentioned the dredging was done different than the usual way this time. The mistake "ruining the break from the 100 YDS past Harbor entrance extending North quite some distance."

Dunno if that's still effecting the surf line or wave action on the beach. Maybe by now it's all reset itself back to normal.

BTW: The smoked tri tip breakfast burritos were even enjoyed by the Vegetarians.

Back when we had Addictor boats we'd ride some pretty big rollers in if the winds were coming in from the south. We'd wait for "The 9th wave."

We like to anchor in that cove near the jetty inside the break wall and hang out. It’s nice to get out of the harbor with having to outside the breakwater in our harbor cruiser.

The cove is kindve a sleeper spot. It’s a great place to anchor up and chill on a nice day. We do it often. And if we don’t want to deal with a boat we just run the carts down to the water and chill. 😂

I keep the rudder room at arms length since I live down the street lol.

Had myself an addictor and ran it around here too when I was younger. A lot of fun.

Rudder room is about as unique a dive bar as any I’ve ever been too. My buddy used to keep a sail boat n the harbor, I’ve had a few late night walks back to the boat from the rudder room. Not sure if there is any truth to it or just bar fly banter, but I was told that the rudder room is one of two bars on the California coast that you can legally walk out onto the beach and down to the water with a drink in your hand, just need to stay infront of the place?

As Dan said. It’s true. Also why we can drive golf carts out there. It’s technically private property.

Owner George lives across the street from me. I’m always trying to get him to blow
Out the windows and make
It an indoor / outdoor bar where you can sit outside or inside like carribean style. Let the beach flow into the bar. I also tell him to cut a window in the back for a pass through and put a pizza oven and deep fried in that little space to the front where various shops have been. He’s like “nah, this works.” lol. No vison I tell ya. It’s dark, dive bar. Been that way forever. They poor them SUPER deep and sell ‘em cheap. Cash only. Open at like 7am and start pouring. It’s afforded him a couple beach front homes so I’m guessing he doesn’t want to fix what ain’t broke.

Seems like one of those places where you can go drink yourself to death and no one will bat an eye, just keep pouring them stiff for you. To each his own on that front, watched a friends mom drink herself to death when I was in highschool, she took a taxi to a dive bar at 6:00 am and would damn near close the place each night, she lasted about a year once she it that pace, a handle of vodka a day seems to take a toll pretty quick. It’s never seemed like a light hearted happy go lucky vibe when I’ve been there, I like your concept to beach bar it up a bit. Sounds like dude is stacking chips and no desire to rock the boat.

I saw in one of the IG videos people were saying that all that artificial straw and vegetation the stat brought in to mitigate the dust issue along the beach was completely wiped out. Seems even mother nature is tired of the leftist bullshit.

It’s an alcoholics bar for sure!! Plenty of locals in there doing just that. And it brings a “dive bar” vibe too. But like real
Dive bar. Not fun dive bar. Like drugs and assholes and fights and dipshits. Like
I said, I keep it at arms length. I’ll go in there once in a great while. Usually hammered and being pulled along by my daughter or someone else. 😂

Ok Ok I'll jump in...Thinking I shared this with Tankster before.... so in 2005ish I was dating/ living with a Michigan farm girl who'd moved to Socal to give the AVP a shot. Turns out she had an older sister living in Oxnard and she'd drank herself to death at the Rudder Room. My gal wanted to go up from Newport to visit the bar and she was wearing a pair of hand sewn jeans that her sister made. Well, I open that big Rudder Room door and see a black lab cruising through and just know this is my kinda bar. The sun was shinning through towards us from the bar area as we approached to order drinks. There's maybe 6 older regulars bellied up... they turn to look at Stehanie and freeze.... apparently she looks just like her sister, plus wearing her jeans ha. We all celebrated.... they loved that gal and missed her terribly. I think I heard it took 5 years after arriving there from Michigan to drink herself out. Demons I reckon... never met her.

If you enter bar and walk to bar look down to far right beyond it and might se pictures of three sisters dressed in Christmas bikinis playing VBall out front. Special place for most.... stay away Tankster ha!
