Trophy trucks are nearing the finish. Menzies and Luke are 1/2, if you wanna just watch the finish it’s live on YouTube and getting close.

Bryce ahead by ~2:30 corrected right now.

Looks like 1914 is in 1st place. They’re talking about it on the livestream now, Mile 891. Way ahead of 2nd place currently.

This guy is just now to San Felipe, he has about 200 miles to make it back across the peninsula to Ensenada
Saw that last night very damn impressive. This guy gets my respect big time don’t think many could do what he did alone.

Holy fuck I’m on 3 hours of sleep in 48 hours and about 15 of those hours was in a car ripping across the desert from La Paz to Ensenada. Waiting to see how we finished, might be first place. Had a slight issue in the final mile or two.

Nearly killed us in race mile 330-335 in the silt beds. It was fucking carnage of dead trophy trucks, class 1’s and Trophy Spec classes. Then the San Felipe whoops earlier today. My driver and I did 100 miles of the gnarliest whoops I’ve ever seen after all the trophy trucks turned them into absolute monsters that swallowed our UTV.

So many wild stories and jumping in and out of the race car at all hours of the night and day and then filthy as fuck jumping in the chase truck and racing across the desert to make the next driver/co-driver swap. I haven’t taken my race suit off since yesterday at 6am 😂

Fucking memories I’ll never duplicate but instead replicate. Absolutely grueling but rewarding.

I need a shower, a beer and a bed to start the party tomorrow when I’m not so delirious.

More later…

No doubt, he is like 34 hours in... crazy
He is through Baja Pits 25. We got him off the bike, fluids, electrolytes, and nutrition. He is off and moving to the goat trail. — at San Matías.
My buddy John ran that pit (guy on left) and his wife (VA Nurse Mgr), made sure he was good to go!

741x that’s how you do it.

This right here is the story of the race so far. This Ironman 741x flew to America, bought this bike in San Diego, rode it to La Paz and after being told he had to find a ton of parts and tires cause his were bald from the ride down and safety stuff to race he did and he passed tech! He is currently in second place with never riding a single day in Baja before and no prerunning. He just stopped at someone’s random pit and they feed him tacos! Check out his quote lmao!!! This is BAJA!!! Go Wouter!!! #fishgistics #baja1000 #score 📷 Robbie Pickens

Congratulations! Did you lose the hood? What are your thoughts on the Honda? Did you require any repairs? Is it built by Race-Co?

My driver and I smoked the shocks in the San Felipe whoops about mile 30 of 100. We ditched the hood to get more air on the reservoirs. Made no difference but when you’re delirious from no sleep you come up with weird ideas to do anything you can to drag the car across the finish line.

The Honda is great until you get into any sand or soft stuff. Its about as anemic as you can imagine. The auto trans is a unique deal and the gear ratio sucks for racing. It’s a mule versus thoroughbred if that makes sense?

Keep in mind this is no ordinary Honda. It’s a $180k build but all stock drivetrain and motor to meet SCORE spec.

We were the tortoise and the hare and had a strategy that worked. I built a dozen spreadsheets for every scenario so that we were competing for the finish.

Honda is a great car. It does everything well, not great.

When racing offshore Bob Teague used to tell us “to finish first you must first finish. That probably applies even more to the 1000. Thanks for answering my questions, much appreciated and congratulations.

In an endurance race, dependability is everything.

I'm not a fan of being towed home. Been there, done that, and it sucks!

😜

Congrats again on the win. 👍🏼👍🏼
