Also, don't call that tow truck again, you might have to retrieve that truck a 2nd time!

Yeah seriously, switching drivers has nothing to do with it. This ramp is steep and and this could happen to anyone.
Chick was having issues, dirt bag husband got out of boat leaving his 2 kids in the boat started yelling at her then told her to move over and she didn’t have it in park and away it went with him and her half way out of the truck.

There have been a few occasions where my wife seems to forget every damn thing at the ramp that we have done hundred's of times before. I do my best to just take a deep breath and mitigate whatever fuk'd up situation we find ourselve's in and push forward. I swear she does it on purpose!🤪

I guess I do it because I love her and enjoy sexy time with her...

Nobody is hurt or dead. It’s just a truck. Shit happens 🤷‍♂️ Live and learn

They will all spend 2-3 pages explaining how it’ll never happen to them. But shit happens. As long as the family is okay shit happens. It’s a truck insurance will cover it. If they don’t hard lesson learned but try again.

Exactly, as long as my family is safe and nobody else was hurt to be honest I’d probably just laugh 🤣 my wife would say “how can you laugh right now!?” My reply: What else can you do? It just a truck who cares 🤷‍♂️😜

My wife hopped out of the truck with it in reverse, thank sweet baby jebus I did the upgrade on the park brake and that she set it.
A guy here in canyon lake did that last summer and his raptor went swimming. He was no rookie. Shit just happens and sometimes it happens to damn fast 🤣

Now you are making me rethink the next step of teaching the wife to back up the truck to launch the boat…..

It’s a steep ramp. I back up, wife launches. Works for us. I always slam the E brake down and put it in park every time I get out. Seen too many videos of mishaps. People get too nervous sometimes. I also put it in 4WD since I have a heavy boat. Shit happens I guess.

After seeing this happen on social media a few times, my wife got all stressed out that our truck was going to just slide down the ramp so she got inside her head. We were launching and she backed me in, I signaled to her that we were good and she can pull out now. I see the reverse lights on.... she lets off the brake and the truck starts rolling back, she brakes and tries again, truck rolls back a little more, she starts screaming at me "THE TRUCK IS SLIDING IN!!!" I calmly respond, babe, put the truck in drive. She does and drives out to go park. She begged me not to tell anyone about it but F that, we have to be able to laugh at this shit.

4wd is the safe way no doubt keeps front wheels locked in park. Don’t think many know that just the e brake in 2wd that the rear wheels can still slide if ramp is slippery

We are all human. I only hope to be one of those guys that can do no wrong. These stories help us become better at what we love do. Thank you for sharing. And as for your wife not wanting to share……She is kicking ass by just helping launch. 👍 We all have a brain fart from time to time. I am getting better but from time to time I go full retard mode. I could not back up for the life of me yesterday. But then again @LargeOrangeFont got to see my mad skills first hand.:oops::oops: Some how @DWC keeps me on point and I have kept my shit together 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

One guy shouting "Open the doors" got me wondering.
Of course I understand that's the most effective way to quickly drain the water.
Is it however even possible to open them with that much pressure against them ? If so you best be damned careful where you're standing when you do.
I've never tried it, or thankfully never needed to. I'd guess that opening them while still submerged and with pressure equalized might be the best option, certainly the safest.
I've watched them haul two of these dunkings out of Site Six, and in neither case were the doors opened until the tow truck had slowly progressed forward, stopping at various stages, allowing cabin water level to lower, then finally when on dry ramp and pressure sufficiently diminished, stood behind the doors opening them to allow more to drain.

I’ll never understand the lack of humanity when bad shit happens to normal folks, just out to enjoy a day of boating.

My super quiet, super diminutive wife asked me “why in THE FUCK, aren’t these people helping us” when I had to load my Skater, in the wind, on one engine. (Twice).

I was hollering at them for someone to please stand on the islander dock, they just stood there . Had it gotten bad, I’m sure it would have made its way on here.

“Idiot”
“Ran out of talent”
“Rookies”

Two of the waiting trucks had RDP stickers on them.

Loading my boat with 2 is ok as long as everything is normal.

It's plain and simple husband karma. Prove me wrong.
If he hadn't gotten bent, yelled at her & basically tell her to gtf outta of the way she probably wouldn't have left it in gear or w/o E-brake on.
Just sayin guys.....keep your cool.😊

Had a neighbor friend out on the ocean who was in his mid 70's and I didn't feel comfortable having him jump onto the dock with the bow line in the heavy wind, sat just off the dock hoping someone would catch my bow line. Had to have been 10-15 people watching from their outside dining tables, apparently none of them were boaters.

I will say this, when I came off the lake, one running, I had to back into a slip. I couldn’t get it in. The drives are waaay out on the corners and too much leverage to one side. A group of 4 guys, ran out to the dock to grab ropes to spin me and pull it in.

I had 6 ropes ready, attached when I came in.

That sucks they would not help. I help everyone unless they talk shit at our ramp. Last few times I had to put it on the trailer I had extra help. Our ramp sucks. 2 extra people makes it so easy. Only had my Nieces and Nephews on board and they are 10 and under. Few of my river neighbor friends see my truck and trailer go by and just head to the ramp. I do the same.

I was trying to figure that out myself, I'm guessing not too much pressure being that it takes 2.31' of head to achieve 1psi, probably does have a little volume though.
Maybe pressure was the wrong term. Was thinking weight due to the sheer volume against the door like a really fat boy leaning against it, when it pops open it's going to do so with some force behind it. 🤕

It will have some force but it is not going to fling you across the parking lot. It might be enough to push you out of the way if you were leaning on the door when you unlatched it though

So it will unlatch ? Never tried it under force.
Also, when the peanut gallery was shouting to open the doors, the truck was still in the water, not on dry ramp, less force perhaps, but certainly slippery footing, so now lean against it and open it, please shoot a video. 😆

I tried launching my boat with my TJ once. I started backing down the ramp and then slid the rest of the way down. Thankfully it stopped sliding once the boat hit the water. That was the one and only time I used the Jeep. Scared the shit out of me. Never again.

I think they did this on the show Mythbusters once. I want to say the door unlatched but they could not get the windows to roll down. when the car was full to the brim of water, and pulled out of course.

Under water with equal pressure, everything worked "normal"

Did they happen to do any test on how long the electrics will function submerged in salt water ? I've seen two trucks submerged at Site 6 at night. Both put on a beautiful underwater light show, that remained on the entire recovery duration. This recovery involved both a tow truck and diver showing up, the tow truck operator was reluctant to even get his toes wet.
In salt, being conductive, I don't know ?

People would rather film and post shit on social media these days to see how many likes they get rather than lend a hand and help out.

I actually deleted that post, because although I understand static pressure, I started thinking there's more to it than that.☺️

When we pulled up the diver with a tank on just came out of the water. Wife was like WTF??? I told her what happened being we all have seen it before in real life or YouTube. She couldn’t believe it. I told her, Yep…it happens. Real drag. They were from LA I heard. They never put the boat back on so not sure what came from that. It was like 6:30pm on a Sat

Have you tried it with a front end tow hitch.... I tried to launch our 23 Malibu with our old TJ rear tow and it drug it......pulled it out fine... My buddy uses a front hitch and launches his 25 magic with his TJ no problem...steep ramp at our place...

When I did the dam dam run the next morning I had a dead battery on one engine. I go to put it on the trailer with one engine and it's windy as fuck. Couple of the group started walking down to help. I snaked it on the first try and they saw it and turned back.

Couple of weeks ago during my shakedown, lost a transmission. No wind but the ramp was steep as hell, had one person in the truck, 2 at the bow stop and me in the boat. Still took 30 minutes to load it. Ramp was steep enough the bow was trying to go under the bowstop. @LOBOATOMY was one of them at the bow. Had all kinds of people watching.
