26 miles west of Vidal Junction backed up pretty good. 2 helicopters landed for evacuations.
Ehrenberg Rd friends.
It has it merits plus faster Emergency response.
Sad deal...every time.I go through Ehrenburg more often than not anymore. If anything, it’s a more relaxing drive. Plus, we usually see tractors and tractors are cool.
WaterRod...nuff said.My brother almost got run off the road by a guy passing, my brother had no trailer doing the speed limit, with a WaterRod years ago. People make bad decisions......Now that I reside in AZ no more Rice Road although I loved going late at night from LA and puling off the road at the junction from 29 Palms....full moon and dead silence....
95 closedwhere rice road? ,< never go that route.
we have been doing Ehrenburg 30 years .
I might change it up a little and do cal 95 over to Agnes Wilson. mostly going home.
Agreed. When I was back and forth, moving out here from Ca, I saw a double fatality on 10 in Quartzite. 7am, Suburban full heading back to LA from Texas...passed me rolling about 80, and nodded off. Rumble strip woke him up, just in time to see the tanker he was about to hit off the side of the highway. He tried to steer out of it, but cleaned off the passenger side...front spindle and all. When it touched down, hooked hard right into a vacant lot passed the on ramp. Passenger front and middle were DOA...as I helped get the kids out of the back seats 6 years ago, can still tell you what each person was wearing...and worse details. Can happen anywhere. Royal just reported a wreck on az 95 north of Quartzite
Be hard to lose a left rear and end up end over end. Seems usually a rear and an overcorrection send people into barrel rolls. Don't know the speed or the roadway well...just glad there's no RDSUX sticker on it...
I think you’re luring yourself into a slightly false sense of security. Accidents happen every day and on every highway. Sometimes no matter what you do your numbers up.If I responded to this I would piss everybody off. This is why I don't travel to the river area on a weekend and take a safer route. Especially on a known busy weekend. I enjoy the parker strip Monday thru thursday and head home on a "more miles less traffic route" To many ego a--holes that think they are impervious to "shit happens to others not me" and feel the need to race home and set a new here to there record without a care to everybody else on the road until they need to be scrapped of the highway. They can live with the deaths for the accident they may have caused or were involved in. OOPPSS I did respond sorry. Now that I have is 1 hour out of your'e life that important????
It may happen any time. BUT it won't be by my stupidity. I have driven 45 years, 35 without any infractions and 12 driving commercially. I hate to say how many times I have rolled up on fatalities and assisted seeing things that I wish weren't etched in my memory for life. If you care to roll the dice and take the circumstances, let it rip, but NEVER involve innocent people. MarkI think you’re luring yourself into a slightly false sense of security. Wasn’t trying to start anything with you, just stating the facts. I’ve been driving a truck for 30 years and have seen plenty. It may happen any time. BUT it won't be by my stupidity. Staying alert and aware is your best asset. Got to foresee or recognize a situation brewing miles ahead.Wasn’t trying to start anything with you, just stating the facts. I’ve been driving a truck for 30 years and have seen plenty.

Pro tip on Ehrenburg. Stop at Oscar’s on Lovekin. It’s a little hole in the wall convenience store and meat market. They have some of the best carne asada and pollo I’ve ever had. I make sure to stop every time I’m in the area. Don’t let the looks and cleanliness of the place fool you.
https://www.yelp.com/biz/oscars-stop-and-shop-blythe?osq=oscarsBeen going there for years. That place is legit
Other vehicle had front end damage. My neighbor thinks this SUV was passing hit other vehicle and rolled of road. Other car had front end damage. Beginning of the season. Is that SUV missing the rear tire or is it just the angle of that pic? If so, it’s possible that they blew a rear tire & that’s how they veered off of the road because there doesn’t appear to be any major front-end damage w/ another vehicle.

These poor people woke up this morning just like we did. Probably had coffee, breakfast and had no idea that this awaited them. Who knows, there may have been another vehicle involved, untouched, going the opposite direction? Ehrenberg Highway has wide firm shoulders and rather quick response for first responders. Rice road has neither. What is does have is boats being towed at 80+ and others doing over 100. Memory tells me there have been A-holes on here bragging about doing that. Believe some may even have kids now.
I drive 50 miles of 2 lane rolling hills before I get to the highway. Dodge wildlife, and the occasional lane changer. Hit I40, and it's balls to the walls, average speed of traffic is 80. I don't know if it's the rush everyone is in on the Ca side, or the boredom. If more people take Erehenburg, does it change the risk? The people that are worried about every last minute probably won't change their minds based on safety. Mapquest and Google will still say that Rice is the best path, so people will still take it.I so hate reading of these Rice Road tragedies on RDP Of course for the obvious reason of death, suffering and loss.
Mostly however and I agree selfishly, because there's those who can not resist using it as an opportunity to advertise alternative route "E".
I know it's a natural tendency to reach out to our fellow man, even if it's to save them from themselves. We feel we must do something.
Like church folks ringing your doorbell to hand you a salvation pamphlet, you understand their motivation, despite being irritated they've bothered you.
Well, I gotta be honest here, each time I read one of these sad "Rice Road" threads and the humanitarian outpouring inviting others to join us on the wonderful route "E",
I'm forced to ponder ---- WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU PEOPLE THINKING ????
Are you just lonely on your drives ?
The serenity of it all bores you ?
You want to spice it up by dogging head on collisions ?
We left these ass-clowns on Rice Road and found a route less traveled, why do some of you insist on fucking that up ? To what end ?
Oh I know, you might save a life, it's a humanitarian thing, you can't help yourself ---- but consider this, you might have also just killed somebody
I don't think its a concern that the Rice people will go the E route, very few will come (like the church pamphlets) ….. this is a way of life for them, rice rd is part of the river …. their parents and grandparents came that way and that's just the way it is!!I so hate reading of these Rice Road tragedies on RDP Of course for the obvious reason of death, suffering and loss.
