Pulled a guy out of the shoulder last year towing a boat, that had pulled over to let about 7 or 8 cars pass. I was the last vehicle, and saw he was tire deep, turned around and pulled him out onto the road. Just the old fuck with the E350 4WD in no hurry..I do 65 out there, I can afford the 15 minute loss. My younger step brother and his mom were coming to needles for his high school graduation. Unfortunately he had a blowout and lost control flipping the car. Him and his mom were both ejected. My brothers friend was with them and had to do CPR on my brother. They tried to resuscitate his mom after but unfortunately weren’t able to. My brother suffered a broken back (3 different places) , broken ribs, punctured lung, and his ear was torn off.

Wow. Sorry to hear. Seriously makes this whole thread seem terribly petty. Great reminder that there are always real people behind these tragedies. Thank you for giving us the time for this update.

Dammit, sorry for your loss.
Was this approx midnight? I believe mile marker 100? I heard a call go out for a traffic collision with ejection but never heard the end result.

Sorry for you and your step brother's loss. Hopefully your brother is able to make a good recovery. It won't be quick, I know from experience. I was in an accident where I broke my neck, and also lost the top of my right ear. Necks and backs are a bitch. Until the swelling goes down from surgery, you don't know where you're at. The ear can be fixed. Mine always looks dirty from scar tissue, and sunglasses are a pain to find. Be warned, he's going to be both angry and depressed. It's a tough thing to wrap your head around...fine one minute, and dependent the next. Do what you can when you can. He'll appreciate every minute, even if he doesn't or can't tell you.

It happened last night/ early morning. I got the call around 1 am.

If you were on the 40 would the outcome have been the same?

Remember Sam Kinison, he rolled his Firebird coming down from Laughlin to Needles many years ago. Rip

If some people would slow their "race to get there" down we would not have to hear this shit every F--king weekend. All this crap makes me drive a different way. Yes it takes longer but I DON;T GIVE A SHIT. IT'S not NASCAR ASSHOLES. Mark

It’s not nascar. Those guys can’t turn right in the dirt at 100 mph. I would say it’s more like Baja

I well agree! I recently sold a house down below San Felipe and well know the drag race from Mexicali to San Felipe. Then the 54 kilometers to my campo. For 25 years I made that trip(but NEVER AT NIGHT) and know that baja has changed so much I dumped the house and will never set foot across the border again. As far as the racing goes I always went out in the desert and watched. Know all the people forced of the road on rice road or any other route to the river towing a boat or having passengers lives in your'e hands especially children that have now control on what you do?????????????????????????? Is it worth it?
