12" powered sub. Just like racing, "no replacement for displacement"
I’ll see your 12 and raise you 😂

My $30 Yammy stack. I was after the preamp, but like the majority of oldschool Yamaha preamps...it has issues. So the seller refunded the majority of my cash and he let me keep the equipment. A small M-35 that sounds really nice. Not pictured is a working cassette deck.

I'm also waiting to take delivery of another Yamaha amp - an M-65 and a C80 preamp. The M-65 is in protection mode...so not much hope for it. Fingers crossed for the C80...my C85 has loose/cracked solder joint on the pre output.

Holy crap that's a monster. Bad ass, congrats!

Too funny because today I was wondering why my system sounded so flat. It was because my 12" Mirage sub quit working. No prob, I grabbed its twin from the garage and that one isn't working, either.

I
We use them in theater projects. 😂

you might want to check this place out. I took my old stereo to them and got it repaired for a very reasonable price. You will have to make 2 trips to vegas for it but it was worth it for me. It was an old Miida that I bought as the first thing with my first job in high school, still running in the garage. And some of the stuff on the shelves is amazing.

Awesome, that seems like a fun gig, designing kickass systems with other peeps cash!

You think that box would work in my 9X11 listening space? 😂

Wow, hey thanks for the reference. I never heard of them before and they have a nice selection of used gear, too. I will give them a call.

I follow a Yamaha board on AudioKarma and there are some competent techs on there, too. But even they admit the Yammy's are complicated units that sometimes daisychain themselves into bricks, and the cost to fix them is excessive.

My patience is growing thin with Yamaha as my similarly old Onkyo equipment keeps chugging away nicely without issue. I'm thinking about focusing on some silver faced units, or spending the cash on their Integra models.

MFKR…
My old school like 25 year old Boston Acoustics 10” Powered Subwoofer. The rubber around the woofer is so deterioted, and just cant get it to glue correctly. This is my garage set up, not my main set up…

So I went into Best Buy a bit ago. I was going to get a stand alone subwoofer and just replace it inside the old cabinet…

As I was walking into the store.. They had a ton of red tag clearance items out of the high end portion of the home audio section. So I get to browsing… and find a Martin Logan Dynamo 400 8” over 50% off.. $174.00… 75w RMS and 150 peak…

Bought it, got it connected about 20 minutes ago… Fuck me… just not enough power/bass… I have it cranked fully up and its just not what I am used to.

I am in pickle here… return it, and go back to plan A…

Step up and go buy that nice 12” 400w Martin Logan they have at 50% off, still over $400 for my garage…

MFKR… Am I going to regret not returning this… or just live with… ugggg…

The good news is the cigar is awesome, on a nice fall day in Reno area, with a high 64 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. BTW… the pigeons start roosting on my neighbors roof in about an hour, might be able to snipe a few with pellet gun…
There was a guy I used in garden grove or near there that re-foamed a JL Audio 12” w6 for me a couple of years ago…he was reasonable.
