:)Just bought the wife a SQ5 last week. We leased it so I did not get any added protection. It's our first Audi and so far we love it. Blast to drive and plush. It was made in Mexico so lets see how it holds up.

I recently bought my daughter her first car, a used Audi A4 Quattro from a dealer. They will try and sell you extended warranty for sure, gap insurance, special detail with super duper wax etc... the finance guy was also selling powder coated wheels if you want black wheels or any other color I guess. Since you ordered the car I assume the price has already been finalized? You might consider browsing their accessory catelog and see what you might want and then see if they would be willing to throw it in for free. Good luck!

We have a choose on warranty’s not sure what the cost is just yet...
Trying to get ahead of the questions so we don’t make an impulsive choice

We are doing the ceramic coating, supposed to be way better than wax. We did it on our boat, makes it easier to remove the water spots...

Not sure about LoJack, if it gets jacked then insurance will cover it...

Anytime I've bought a brand new car and the finance guy tries to sell me a warranty, my first question to him is "are you selling me a piece of shit that needs a warranty?" You can always buy one at a later date when the standard one expires.

2 ways to look at it,

for the next 5-6 years everything is covered
Or
Sell it before you have a problem...

This is what I’ve learned about car buying these days. Hire a broker and an attorney. I refuse to step foot in any dealership again after my Dodge fiasco.

Warranties are an additional sales item for a dealer. On my truck, salesman said $6800 for extended warranty. Said hell no. In Finance, same warranty offered at $4200. After some give and take, got the $6800 warranty for $1800.

My son use to work for Fletcher Jones. He was heavily involved with Audi of Beverly Hills which owned by the fletcher. I’ll ask him if he knows them.

I bought our second Q7 in January. Our 2011 was a buy back through the diesel gate ordeal. I worked with Audi of N Scottsdale. I negotiated 4% off msrp for a prestige titanium pkg with towing. According to the forums that’s about a good of a deal you can get on Audi’s.

Love the car.

I sure hope she loves this one! Looking to retire and move to Havasu in 5 years or so and the car will have to go!

My wife drives a bought new 16' SQ5, judging by tire wear, she's having fun :p That TTrs should be a real hoot.
I hope you follow up on your experience with Audi of Escondido. When we were looking, like for a year as finding her a new car requires test driving everything on the market and the patience of a Saint , we went in there shopping and left feeling not just dirty, but seriously needing to be steam cleaned and de-greased. :(
Given it's close and our impression could be way off base, I hope you share your post-purchase thoughts.
We ended up buying at Hoen Carlsbad after my wife's bro hooked us up with the internet sales manager, Richard.
Smoothest new car purchase we've ever made and we've done shit-loads. Bought the Audi extended warranty and service contracts and got great deals on the entire purchase. My wife has driven Lexus vehicles for well over 20 years and the special "Lexus" customer service had her fully spoiled. So far she's every bit as pleased with Hoen Audi, so that of course makes me happy :D
Me, hell I'm used to rolling in the mud with the Ford & Chevy guys, LOL

Very true.
You can even buy the factory warranty from another dealer, after the car is purchased.

There are dealers who sell quite a few extended warranties online, at cut-rate prices.

Pit some dealers against one another and arrive at the best price.

When I bought my Raptor I nicely explained to the finance guy how I'd like to give him a shot at the extended warranty and showed him a print out of an online quote. He just scoffed and blew me off saying there's no way to get a factory Ford warranty for that price and they couldn't even buy it for that. Then rolls right into pushing their 3rd party version as "The Deal" to be had.
I took that as a sign I didn't need to spend an additional dime with them for anything, bye bye !!

One the thing to note about extended warranties purchased after the auto purchase i that they cannot be financed like the car - if you buy it with the car you can finance the warranty at least with Benzes if you buy it after the fact you have to pay for it all at that time.

What's it going to raise your payment $20/30 bucks..
If your keeping a luxury car past it manufacturer warranty get a top notch(gold plan 100k) warranty..
There is crap extended warranty companies out there.. find out before hand who they offer and google them....
And all that stuff is negotiable just don't get what they offer or pay what they say..
Got all the shit dealer offered and negotiated price..
Glass warranty $380( got 2 new windsheilds $750 each)
Leather protection ( got new driver seat upholstery)
Then had clear bra put on for rock chips..
All on paper for 7yrs or 100k miles..

Like others have said, look around and see what other dealers are charging for the Factory Extended Warranty. Do NOT purchase any aftermarket warranty, they are garbage.

If you buy it when you finance the car, it gets rolled into your payments. An extra 20$ a month is worth the piece of mind that when a window quits working at 45k you are not out the $1000 to repair it. Totally worth it as a European vehicle ages, they can get REAL expensive, a bad year might cost you 5-8k without the warranty.

I got the 7yr/100,000 warranty when we got our 2006 330i. Don't remember exactly what it cost but I know I got my money's worth out of it.
BTW car still running strong 12 years and 215,000 miles later. :)

Thank you for all the tips! And sharing your experiences
My wife has been saving her work car allowance, aluminum cans, couponing it and after selling her current car she will be able to pay cash for it!
No car payment! Yahoo

I have never been inside the Audi of escondido, driven by it a million times, so I’m curious to see how that it goes, I’ll let you know what I thought and see from my experience. I’m a noticer, stain ceiling tiles, grungy cove base, dirty walls etc etc ... Thank you for pointing out your impression Taboma!

I will report back after taking possession on Monday, we have to pay for it tonight and then they have a few to do’s, tomorrow ( Thursday ) we are headed to Havasu for the weekend .

Hopefully we have a pleasant experience tonight and a nice drive east tomorrow morning and Thursday night a nice relaxing moon light cruise on the boat!

Ooh, Ticket Me Red. That's gonna be fun.

My daughter is looking for a gently used A3... Reviews seem typical of any german car maintenance wise.

Let them keep your deposit and go buy a Lexus. It will save you thousands over the course of ownership, especially on repairs. I spent far too many years in the car business and still can't understand why anyone would buy a European car.

I agree. I bought a 7 series BMW ONCE. I will never buy another german car again. I had numerous friends who had warned me, but I liked it. I drove the 320 loaner car more than my car. It was constantly at the dealer. Maybe they have improved, however, I was talking to one of my friends today who had to lemon law two BMW's in the past few years.

Cheers, SSC

Meh, some of the Euro Trash is OK.

7 years unlimited miles, all maintenance included. 7 year bumper to bumper warranty only an extra 7500 bucks.

Drive it like a rental car. Totally covered.

Back to the original question, we bought the 4 year Audi maintenance program on the wife's A7 and it was worth it to us as I think they just take better care of you and you don't have to worry or haggle on maintenance. Just drop it off and take the loaner. That was at Penske Audi in Snottsdale.

I had a 2006 BMW 530, purchased it for a discounted rate when the lease ended after three years and had it certified what is it turns out it was a waste of about $1700 the car was flawless and 5 1/2 years all I did was put a battery in it for $500 for the best cars I've ever owned. If you buy a BMW go for the five series of what a fabulous car.

I still have it but the wife he said that another car had to go before I bought the Lambo. it was not a difficult decision.

My dad has had at least eight 5 series and has an '18 540 now and loves it...hasn't had problems with any of them. All have been leased and has picked up the last 3 at Bob Alexander. They send a flat bed with your loaner and take yours away for all scheduled services.

If it breaks down or has issues, I have a nice jeep JK on 37’s she can drive to work....

With my wife having driven one model or another of Lexus since her first in 1990, we tried to find a small - mid size, yet gutsy sporty SUV in the Lexus lineup and couldn't. Went back numerous times, but couldn't get over how bad the seats sucked comfort wise. Maybe you have to be a millennial to fit in their marketing target ?? Sure I'd drive an RC-F or LC-500, but not in the market for that style of car.
Audi makes a very comfortable fun to drive car. Lexus doesn't make anything even remotely close to that TTRS, or the new A3RS, both being awesome fun to drive. Lexus makes a great product, but I'm not sure what demographic they're focusing on now ?

530rl, if you had purchased a Lambo you would not need the extended warranty:]! Most interesting all Lambos are unlimited mileage warranties, 3 years.

I love the R8 as an exotic, but for pure affordable fun, I'd drive the pants off a TTrs, or the new A3rs and be grinning the whole way. Plus I could drive it and park it no worries.
The problem I had with exotics has always been, I could get one (Ummm an older cheaper one that is), but wasn't rich enough to drive it like a rental (To paraphrase 530RL), in that regards it took a lot of fun out of owning it.

That TTrs should be a lot of fun, although I'm not sure I'd have gotten a bright red one, lol  My wife's had her SQ5 for coming up on three years now. Had it in twice for recalls that didn't affect us and otherwise one re-boot upgrade of the MMI system. I did notice the other day however that the MMI control knob is acting a bit wonky, but it's time for service anyway, so no biggie. They always give us an A4 loaner anyway and so far Hoen service has been excellent.
