You know I’m actually torn about this… I hate the fact that there’s all this ghost camping and then you show up on Thursday and you can’t get a spot but by the same token I hate the fact that we’re gonna have more policing… What is even fucking worse is it you can live in an RV in somewhere on the side of the fucking road with no registration and no insurance and it’s OK… What a complete cluster fuck…
this is the part that sucks.... BLM out there does not need another reason to come through peoples camps hassling them... and now they have it.

You can park a shitbox RV on the streets in LA, dump your tanks into the gutter... and nobody will say a word.

The difference is the glamis camper has money, the shitbox in your neighborhood is a bum with no job and no bank account.

This is awesome to see. For you guys crying about more rules and more policing, these were always the rules. They are just being enforced now...finally.

If you support people blocking off space on public land when they aren't there so others can't use it, then you are just as big of a dirtbag as the people doing it.

It’s ok, when the environmentalist win their day in court and more public land is closed off by the BLM, there won’t be anything to bitch about. Believe me, Jao is on it. Glamis closure would be another environmentalists wet dream, just like Pismo.

They've tried and failed. Doesn't mean they won't keep trying though.

That's why it's important to make sure our community obeys the rules out there and doesn't become more than a pain in the ass than it's worth. Right now there is a good partnership with the BLM and the various offroad groups. The BLM is willing to work with us on issues.

All it takes is the continual presence of assholes out there for the BLM to decide their supportive efforts aren't worth it and then side with the greenies on closing the place.

It's just amazing how many people don't get that. And they'll be the first to complain when the place gets closed.

Chris Irwin is a douchebag. "We came back from a ride and just parked this way." Right. Fucking clown.

Could have just manned up and moved his shit when he got called out, but instead chose to up his douche game.

This is the same type of moron who thinks he's the shit at the river with his clapped out 1998 wakeboard boat and some 220 pound baby momma in a g-string sitting up front almost causing the bow to go under.

You must be the first glamis goer I’ve come across that loves the BLM... yes continue to obey their orders, and maybe they will continue to allow us to play on public lands.... got it.

The BLM Officers seemed pretty cool in this situation actually. Respect is earned and it goes both ways, If i was that officer and this clown came at me like this I would do the same thing. Irwin could have not had such an attitude and maybe had more of a chance. Stevie Wonder can see what this guy is trying to do and save real estate.

Not sure where he was going with the taco analogy

And funny how he went from "you can write me 1000 tickets I wont pay them to come on ma, If we move can you just give us a warning."

This guy is a clown

I guess at the end of the day if people did a little more self governing and not abuse the land with saving spots and staying for longer than they should we wouldn't have these types of predicaments.

Because fighting them and making yourself a headache for them is going to work out so much better. Keep that up and your sand rail in your avatar will be worth a whole lot less because there won't be any places to use it. To your credit, at least it's a sand rail and not a sand flea, but that's a whole other topic.

I don't agree with every one of the rules, but you take the good with the bad. The majority of the rules out there are in the spirit of having people act like decent human beings that have respect for each other. I guess you have a problem with that concept? 🤷‍♂️

Where do you draw the line on where rules are acceptable? Just because you're in the "middle of the desert" does that make it okay to kill other people? Steal other people's stuff? Rape and pillage the village? Just trying to understand at what point you'd consider some rules a good thing.

I’ll says this again but all the hate for the “sand fleas”is a joke! If anything it’s the big baller douche bags thinking money is all it takes to have talent in the sand! Big horse power shitheads ruined glamis long before “sand fleas” back in the day if your VW pan had wide tires and a roll bar you where the shit no cages for the idiots yet or even a ATC (three wheeler)at least those took some actual skill to get through the dunes. And some how these idiots still manage to roll a car that’s 9ft wide!!! He’ll I’ve seen a idiot in a funco stuck on what wasn’t even enough to stop a 50cc quad but according to you experts on here he know what he’s doing because he didn’t finance it!

End rant!

Ps I do now own a sand flee and yet to take it out but when I do I’ll make sure to put out cones burn pallets bring bottles to the dunes and ghost camp so I can fit in with all the ballers!

He’ll I might even stick some flares in a magnesium block out on one of the hills close to gecko.

Sorry also I’ve been going to the dunes since the 80s even had a head on with a ranger (his fault) as a teenager but I’ve never been harassed by BLM or any cops in glamis.

The Karen clown in the video with zero argument did not help the cause. If I was him I’d be begging to pull that video off of social media.

The rules have always existed. More and more people started taking advantage of the lack of enforcement. The BLM is now enforcing the rules that have always existed because the ghost campers are out of control. If society lets discipline slip you can be sure law enforcement will be quick to swoop in and get it back in check.

This wasn’t a secret. The BLM posted, and put up signs, what the potential outcome could be.

they are also harrasing/ticketing people with cones out, video posted on several pages on facespace.

*i didnt watch them as i dont give a fuck.. guy in video may have deserved it. dunno.
Definitely deserved it and im not a real fan of the rangers there.Ranger was calm about it looked like he heard enough and guy wouldnt shut up IMO guy was looking to get a beat down and have it recorded for later use but didnt happen.Getting just a single ticket was nothing either could have been told pack up leave,go through camp and find other reasons to cite etc.

I agree the guy in the video did not say or do anything to help his cause.... most of you must not have have had any recent run ins with glamis BLM... trust me, if you go there enough, you will... and it will not be pleasant.... most people change their tune on what they think about BLM after that “one time”

Same here, never had issues but hear about issue all the time, respect goes both ways. Flag them down and ask if they want a breakfast burrito, goes a long way.

I've had plenty of interaction with the LEOs at the dunes. All of em positive.

Maybe it's you? 😝

Like I said... that’s what they all say... until.... LOL

“Govern me harder daddy”

Well...

The LEO out there are the same as the LEO anywhere. Including the ones that post on here.

They have a job to do. Same as you and I do. Is it really that much of a big deal to try and not be a douche to them?

I'm not really understanding your attitude here. To me, you're either part of the problem or part of the solution.

Why be part of the problem??

To each his own I suppose. 👍🏼

I’ve had them in my camp. One time they walked up on me pissing outside camp late at night. Got my ass chewed for that one and they didn’t laugh when I showed them I almost wrote my full name in the sand doing it 😂

Another time we were staying near vendor row and they were sneaking around camp late at night checking for people letting their grey water drip empty through the night. Nobody in our camp was doing that but they were still snooping around our shit. Even though we were good they were still pricks to us. Probably because we called them out.

The way I see it is they have a job to do and so do we as visitors. Keep your shit on the up and up and call them out on theirs. The ghost camping thing is beyond going out of your way to test them and it’s exploded in recent years.

I'm just surprised how that had that truck and trailer hooked up to the tow truck. First dip and I could see it hitting

You’ve seem to have had a lot more run ins with them than I’ve ever had... so not sure how I’m part of the problem....

When you get rolled on gecko rd in a stock Chevy truck for a burned out license plate bulb... for no other reason... and it turns into a 30 minute waste of your time, with the whole “any drugs, weapons, etc etc” in the car... you start realizing these super troopers are out just fucking with people who are trying to get away from it all and have a good time with their families.

Also BLM and the local Sheriff are two different things. Most BLM out there are glorified super trooper park rangers, with chest rigs, thigh rigs etc etc with a shitty attitude. Dig around or go out there enough... nobody complains about the Sheriffs out there... just BLM.

And for the record... I don’t ghost camp... I don’t support it or think it’s right.... I just don’t want to give some of these guys more of a reason to be cruising through everyone’s camps..... because I shit you not... if there happens to a glass ketchup bottle on your table... they’ll pop you. Guess we should have all just followed the rules. Maybe they should bust out the decibel meters and start making sure peoples exhaust isn’t too loud, or start checking to everyone’s helmets for legit DOT tags, etc. hope you got your camp fire permits!!

And EDIT: yes respect is a two way street... and I always give respect. But when you approach with none, you get none in return. Some of these guys act like they’re rolling up on insurgents in Afghanistan.

I've never had a "run in" with them. I have worked With them on multiple occasions though.

I'm not sure if Neil is still in charge at the ranger station out there, but I have worked with him and his crew as well.

I guess I have a different attitude because Ive worked with those guys, and understand how difficult their job actually is?

And for the record, I wasn't trying to accuse You of being part of the problem. It was just a general statement.

😊

We have had one ranger that is heavy handed on gecko(hermes) come by our camp.First time he drives by says everyone down there is bitching i never come up here so here i am then says i see your passes and i did my job laughing.

He would come by atleast once a season sees we are good chat a few then leave.Of course we are way out by ourselves and act respectful and we have been good.Says he gets alot of talk back and so on so his patience wears.

Every time Ive had a run in with the rangers they've been cool as all get out. being caught double riding and no registration and still only gotten a warning. I've heard of people having a rough time but I have not. I go down to Patton valley more often but I am a little more cautious around glamis. I.e. drinking beer from a glass bottle is an open invitation for mr. Ranger to come into your camp.

Big take away read the rules and regulations and you won't set yourself up for a run in with the rangers like I have.

Seems pretty normal out here today, I don't see any towing going on, lots of red tags though which is the 72 hour warning. Just got back from a sunrise dune run before work, dunes way out by the closure stakes are pristine.

My favorite part about that video was that it started as "we just parked like this after our ride" to everyone moving their rigs to park like a normal human as soon as the ticket book came out.

I would love to submit a FOIA request for the BWC footage to see how this started, a lot of the agencies I work with say that people turn up their clownish behavior as soon as the cell phone cam comes out.

how did you manage to get such a prime spot? Just pulled up and it was wide open? or did a friend save you some space? 🤪
