I live on a private lake and looking for a stand up to play with. I use to race from 1988 to 1992 440s/550s so would like something that has a little more modern upgrades. Not sure if should stick with those hulls or go for a 650 style hull. Looking for something done and cheap.lol

I have a 91 440 sx. Lots of fun but the 650's have a ton more power.

I've got a nice 1992 750sx I could part with. Bone stock engine. Ride plate, quick turn adjustable bars.

Is it just me or does it seem like stand ups are making a come back? I've seen more out this year than in recent years. The nice thing is that the people riding them pay more attention than most that are riding sit down ski's.

I had a 91 650SX last year! Bone stock! Bought to ride on the river in Laughlin with my Dad. Sold it a month later and made a $109 on the sale. I wish there was some place closer to ride. I would ride every weekend!

Shit I have had my 750 for years. A few weeks ago I had the card rebuilt and took it out on Tube float weekend. Left it in the water Fri night. Then left it in the water Sat night and she focking sunk.... Took me hours on Sunday to flush the water out and get her fired back up :grumble:

The old stuff sucks compared to the newer stuff.

Kawi SXK pro 750
Kawi 800 SXR

Yamaha super jet (round nose)

Once you ride one of these skis you will never want to ride a 440/550/650 again

I wish I still had my 800 sxr. Thing was a beast and handled amazing and turned like it was on rails.

How are the square nose Yamaha's?

Very user friendly and easy to ride compared to the kawasaki 750. I thought I had a round nose and just gave it to a friend who confirmed it is a square nose. I did not have time to replace the bendix. Just saw him this weekend and he has it down to the hull for a full rebuild. Wish I had the time but would be easier for me to go buy a new Yamaha from Parker Yamaha for $9500 OTD

After the 750 submarined me I was happy to get back on my 440. Hit a wake nose dove in while still on the gas and down I went. Didn't know which way was up or down lol

Kawasaki talked about discontinuing the 2stroke sxr since 2010. Looking online the last year might have been 2015?

They are no longer on the Kawi website

I believe they are still making the superset but I could be wrong.

Kawasaki quit making stand ups for the American market in 2011. Here is the article.

http://blog.boats.com/2010/10/last-year-for-jet-ski-800-sx-r/#.VX8f8OvewqY

Yamaha still makes the super jet but it can only be sold for "closed course competition use only", although I have no idea how that works.

See link here http://www.yamahawaverunners.com/performance/superjet

I bought a brand new 800SX-R in 2011. It has zero hours.

Will sell for 50k.....:D

The super jet is a better play boat and beginner boat.

The 750 ski pro and 800 sxr were race boats. The hull would cut so hard that if you weren't ready it would pitch you. The 2nd day I got my 800 I was bombing it down the river full speed 50+ and chopped throttle, when the nose came back into the water it caught and yard sale'd me off the ski. I skid and cartwheeled across the water for atleast 50 yards.......my buddy described it as a water explosion:D

Two things happened that day I lost some $100 sun glasses and I leaned that you don't chop throttle when riding one of these new boats at 50mph plus:D

What year did they start making the 750s? There are a few 550s with with 650 motors in them on Craig's list.

Consider a 1995-96 Blaster or 96 and newer superjet. Depending on your budget. The SXR 800 posted in this thread is gold right now. If you wanted a really fun ski to ride I would put $5000 in my pocket and wait for the perfect SXR 800 to pop up for sale. Great all around ski, you can not throw them around as much as a superjet, but in rough water and all around riding they are hard to beat. I've had all listed, I currently own a 1995 Blaster and SXR 1100. Love my 1100, super fun and super fast. It was painted by Toby, everything is powder coated and such. Runs great, really fun Havasu ski. There are a couple of jet ski forums that are good as well to shop.

I'm interested in getting one...

Are they light enough for 2 people to lift out of a truck bed?

I've loaded and unloaded my 440 by myself... Little heavy but doable. Getting traction on the ramp was my biggest struggle getting it into my truck bed

I rode a blaster a few times when they came out and I remember them being fun. I really want something for $1500.00 just to mess around a few times a week for some exercise and to get onto the water. Frank

I used to load and unload my 650 by myself. A rolling stand the same height as the truck bed makes life easier.

I had a 550sx about 8 years ago. Sold it because the pump was going out and at the time I didn't have the money to fix it so I sold it. But I did keep the dolly that came with it when I bought it for when I buy another ski. I rigged a little hitch setup for the back of the golf cart so I could launch it easy. Only problem was retrieval. It had bigger balloon tires and the thing would float when you put it in the water. The dolly was fairly tall so it made the transfer to and from a bed of a truck fairly easy.

After typing this, I remembered who made it. Here is a pic, Tiger Tote!

Loved my kawi 750sxi pro, but if I were looking for a new less expensive play ski it would be a Yamaha square nose with 701 or a Yamaha FX1. We used to launch off the dirt at fiesta island and ride ever day after work. I think there's still a group that set up a buoy course there for fun.

Square nose 701s were 94-95
All round nose were 701s 96 and up, but seem to carry a premium.
FX1s were a funky ski, but I always liked riding my friends. They were 94-95th only. A bit more of a hassle to ride.

Sold the super clean one I had for $800 2 years ago. Guy bought it to put the motor in his stand up and just scrapped the hull. I had it listed for months, finally took best offer. Same thing with one of the Waveraiders I had sold it for $600 and he just wanted the motor for a stand up build.

I do it by myself no problem. Even my mom does it no problem. lol

I have those rolling carts. Lower the tailgate, and roll the cart/ski towards the truck bed and push it right in. I always do it by myself. Not a big deal. It can be a lil difficult putting it back in the truck from the water. When you want to get it back in, back the tail gate down to the waterline, point the nose at the front of the bed, fire it up and hit the throttle. Done deal.

Unloading it onto a stand is also easy. Lift up the rear and pull it onto the cart. They don't weigh very much, all the weight is in the front.

I made a beach stand out of PVC pipe for about $20 bucks.

I have a 440 and a 550, I was shocked how much better the extra 110 cc's were. They are cheap and fun to go beat yourself up on, definitely a work out. I got board riding alone though. Both are broke right now and on the short list of things to fix. I really did enjoy just going out for a quick blast. You should be able to score a nice 550 for under $500

I passed up on one for $1,500 about 7 years ago that had a Eddie Valen Halen guitar paint job and a ton of modifications. I kick myself all the time for not buying it.

I had a Wave Blaster II, it was a fun ski, but nothing like the OG Blaster. Also had a Sea-Doo HX. What a pile of junk that was.
