Going that way on the Canyon road you have to get on the 91 right where the 241 dumps into the 91. That Canyon Rd. can get backed up faaaaar with all the other peeps with the same idea. Getting off at Green River cuz you lived right there near the exit would not be that bad. It's only like 5 miles from the last exit in Anheim HIlls/Yorba. Just stick to the right and it flows better going under the 241 interchange.

Cannon...Not Canyon Rd.. I used to go that way off of Imperial to get to Irvine before the toll road was built.

I'd be happy to sponsor a couple coolers full of frosty cold beers if Pron uses me to buy a house. :)

:champagne::champagne:;)

Dan, you have any knowledge of the Trilogy community? I know it's a 55+ community. Just wondered if you did any biz up there. My folks really like that place and may end up there.

Lol. Thats a great course, my dad and I used to play it alot when he still lived in YL.:thumbsup

I'm sorry, from Jamboree you would turn left. I said right. Yea, they have told me before that Imperial can back up big time starting as far up as Canyon High School, and that some days getting on the 91E can be a pain in the a....:grumble: But like you said, Green River is the 1st exit passed the 241, so its not horrible, but I can't imagine going any further than that, because normally it comes to a stop right around the 241 or Lakeview exit right?

You don't have to come down the hill all the way on Imperial. You can turn on Serrano and get on the freeway at Weir Canyon.

I was actually talking about Santa Ana Canyon Rd. which you can catch where Cannon turns into Imperial. You can also take La Palma on the other side. That brings you around the other side over the river where Santa Canyon Rd. ends the 91 on ramp.

Pretty much thats where things start to slow down. It varies day to day. This is why I get off on Green River. Normally, I could exit at Main (the last one right before the 15). But I get off at Green River. From Green River to my door is about 6-7 miles. I'll save myself 15-20 minutes easy if freeway traffic is bad. I live off Ontario Ave, which dead ends into Green River. Ontario Ave. East also takes you to the 15 the backway through Corona. I live just about 2 miles West of the 15 and 2 miles South of the 91. Just far enough away from the bullshit. :D

Yep. I stop in at Chilis on Imperial and YL Blvd most Fridays on my way home. There is a lady that stops also that lives in Corona. We started talking about how she got home. I told her about a couple short cuts. The next Fri. she told me I saved her 15 min. each way. :thumbsup

I didn't read your whole post the first time. Yes, those hours would be much better. You still might hit it, but less often. Jeff just drove to Santa Ana and the freeway was stopped before the 15/91 interchange and stop and go all the way to the 55. 2 hours from Corona to Orange . . . at 10 a.m. But it's certainly not like that all the time. You never can tell, though.

I don't know, it takes us a little over an hour and a half to get from Menifee to LAX when we have a decent flight time. Won't in two weeks, though, when the plane leaves at 9 a.m. on a Friday. Ugh. We'll probably leave at 6.

No, really, everything in So Cal is only an hour away, LMAO.

You better leave at 5am trust me

My father had a 10 minute commute in the 50's so he was able to come home for lunch.
I have a 15 minute commute when traffic is bad.
Life is all about choices, my choice is not to spend time in traffic.
And by the way, the 15 minute commute replaced my 1 minute commute. Our office was two doors away, but we had to move downtown.

Pron - you can avoid the whole Corona issue by also considering the Lake Matthews area of Riverside. It's literally 3 miles East of the 15 and no 15 or Corona traffic issues. Plenty of mini-mansions up there on 1/2 acre sized lots. Former $1MM houses now selling for about $500K. There's aboard member ion here who's a physician and he lives in one...and it's pretty fuggin nice.

It's always been that way. It's just you're noticing it more since it was brought up. :D

I actually checked my commute last night. My drive to work was 16 miles. And that's round trip. Took 10 minutes to get home last night. Going to work takes about 20 minutes depending on traffic. You can have that freeway shit.

Temecula is super nice, is that SD county? I went to a concert at the casino a few months ago, drove around a little bit, some awesome houses and neigborhoods out there..!

Riverside County. You ever hear of Google. :headscratch:

Hmmmm... going further East.... still trying to figure out how that is better? :D;) He would still have to get past the 15. Sure you can side street it and get to Cajalco and go the back way. Still further nonetheless. That area is off the beaten path and still has some Podunk trashy areas surrounding it.

The in-laws live in Lake Matthews on 2 acres. Definitely some nice property but its a haul jus to get to the freeway.

So now we just need to decide:
Spend another $100k and live in civilization, or pocket it and do the commute.

Nothing but time on our hands, since we aren't ready to buy right his moment. And the housing market isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

It's not going anywhere out there anytime soon. Keep that in mind. Properties values have gone up in some of the more desirable areas. ;)

There's no way in hell I can afford to buy near the beach while getting the amenities we want. We live 5 houses from the sand right now, but we have a sweetheart deal for rent. We have a large 2 bedroom pad, hardwood floors in a great location and we pay $1800/month.

To buy something comparable in our neighborhood would be $700k for a 1,000 square-foot fixer-upper, and I can't store an RV ad boat anywhere close, let alone park either one of them near our pad.

Huntington Beach has some doable properties that are a few miles from the beach, but IMHO that's not living at the beach.

A lot big enough for an RV and boat doesn't really exist in a lot of places

Pron I think you're talking about Gavilan hills; the houses on 2 acres with their own Casitas. We looked at those homes when they were first built and agree - it's a hike to freeway, and their location is a deal killer.

The area I'm referring to is only a mile South of the 91 freeway, and minutes away from the freeway. Scroll down and use the "neighborhood" map to look around. These houses sold a few years back for $750K+

They have a Lake Matthews address but are right next to Gavillan Hills. It's a haul - you have to take Cajalco all the way around.
I didn't know Lake Matthews extended to that side of the lake :thumbsup

I think we're bumping along the bottom.
Household incomes are dropping, down over 8% based on reports released today.
If income is trailing inflation, then a recovery isn't widespread.

But I do know that there are bidding wars happening over homes in some desireable areas.
But not everywhere...it took our friends a long time to sell their killer property in Lemon Heights, and that's a damned nice area.
No so much for homes in Corona, it's still a buyer's market there :thumbsup

You should see the mansion that's across a small gully from my in-law's place.
The garage alone would make your jaw drop...lots of amazing properties there, but yeah, a bit too far for me...and a lot too close to the in-laws :p

Pron, have you looked around the Green River exit? Its very close to the 241 and OC? At least you wouldn't have to keep going on the 91E up into Corona and passed where the 71fwy merges? Maybe this has been discussed, and I missed it?

Hahahahahahahahha.... Genius is working, right here.

Why not? Anything off of Upper, Chase or Foothill and it's gonna take 15 minutes just to get to the 91 irrespective of the time of day.

That's a nice area I put up - those homes are big and the lots are big; and they are "affordable". Not affordable for me, but compared to what they used to sell for, they are a bargain and not your typical cookie-cutter tract style homes. Kind if like the homes south of Upper in Corona, but without the street commute.

Jim also mentioned Norco Hills...again, finally affordable:

I commuted to downtown LA (Seventh & Flower) from Riverside for about 10 years. From downtown I traveled all over SoCal on a daily basis...put about 45-50K miles per year on the car. I wouldn't do it agin now that I'm a little older and have a family.

Traveling that much I became familiar with literally every city between Santa Barbara to El Centro. Urban living towards the beach is nice, LA/SFV/SGV - hell no, maybe RPV, some outlying areas of Malibu, a lot of OC areas are very desirable. Rancho Santa Fe is truly paradise, the best of every world you can imagine...temps, air, sprawl....but those items come with an enormous price tag, lol. I've always been involed with rural crap, horses, livestock...so I'm pretty happy in the IE.

Nice houses exist, old and new, big and small in every community. Absent land in the IE, I really don't see the appeal.

I always thought that business would migrate out to the IE; or at least to a level where the same opportunities in OC/LA would exists in the IE. Not there yet. But, I'm looking at different things and opportunities and will see if I can limit teh choices to the IE.

It seems the realtor.com app relies on realtor information, which isn't always accurate.
If I limit the searches to those with RV parking, I only get a few hits.
If I instead search for properties that are 0.25 acres or larger, I get a ton of hits throughout Orange County, and a lot of them show RV parking in the pics.

This looking at houses shit is sorta fun.
Now I get to scour home, toy hauler and boating classifieds in my free time :thumbsup

Keep in mind some cities don't allow you to park RV's or travel trailers on your property. I know in PV you can't have it visible from the street. Might be why it's not coming up as RV parking in your search. Although I doubt they care out there in the IE. :D
