So nice to read this thread and thanks @Jefftowz for keeping everyone updated. Nice to be home and resting,. Definitely no resting in the hospital with the 4 hour checks and lab draws. I'm a bruised mess and have my first appointment set up with the surgeon on Dec 6th. Waiting to set up and appointment with my pulmonologist and cardiologist.

So glad you are home and on the mend. It's funny, my daughter who lives in Arizona also got me through a life threatening crisis. Dads gotta be there for their daughters!

Thanks again everyone. I have determined that sleeping in the recliner is not conducive to good sleep so tonight will try the bed for the first time. I'm sure it will be difficult to sleep on my back since I typically sleep on my side. But need to try the bed.

Don't know about the chest being cracked open, but with back surgery stuff, I had to build a "pillow wall". My natural instinct was to turn...and that hurt, a lot, and would wake me or keep me up. I figured out the key was to "chock the wheels", to keep me from turning.

Being racked up sucks, but better to be racked up at home. They seem like small steps, frustrating at times, but they are huge moves in the right direction 😍

I hear they make gummies for this lack of sleep problem?

🤷‍♂️😁

I had the same problem. I didn't sleep until I got some kind of sleeping pill, they made me sleep hard enough that I didn't roll over to my side. A few week in I said f it and slept on my side anyway.

I am happy to hear your home Richey.

While you were in the Hospital Rivermobster has moved back into the 80's collecting Gerbils. Fortunately he can eat the modern CBD Gummies to kill the scratching pain of the furry mutant trying to escape.

If your interested in the Gummies just open RDP from 3am on and chose from one of the 100 or so advertisers. I'll buy.
Gummies that is. Gerbils are not included.

My first appointment is Jan 18th. They want to wait 6-8 weeks after the procedure.

I have the hospital prescribed heart pillow for when I need to cough. The pillow is of no help when a sneeze sneaks up on you. That is some brutal pain.
Happy to hear that you're home and recovering. When rehab gets tough, and it will, remember that boating season is just around the corner. We'll be praying for you.

Glad to see you are home and recovering. You are going to get sick of your bed but the alternative is way worse. One day at a time....easier said than done.

I did say the day you told us you'd be going in for bypass that I hoped you wouldn't develop a cough. Seen enough family & others go through it.
.
Really glad to see your improvement 😎👍

Here are a few photos my wife took after my surgery and me in ICU recovery. I cannot believe how may lines and monitors there are.

Hospital stuff scares me. Even more so after spending as much time at them as I have. Seeing these pics though, looking at the silver linings.
You aren't there anymore. Moving on to better things...even if, at first, better things are just your own bed, chair...etc. Small steps are huge!
