Hi guys!!

I'm the owner of this small piece of madness.
This is actually Norways fastest 11ft boat :D

It's all homemade...

It does 80mph++ with me and a passenger, but there is still much more speed potentiale left in this boat. I'm aiming for 85-90mph this season.
The engine is putting out about 330-350hp, but is currently on the rew-limiter due to too small impeller.

Are u planning for a different impeller?

90 in a 11' boat is crazy.. Lol I'm shooting for mid 60's with my 12'er and mid 50's with my 10'er.

There are quite a few mini boat owners here, and a lot of projects going on. :)

As I mentioned in the other thread, there is actually a mini boat race coming up in a few months called the "mini enduro"

Finally a good use for that lake lice engine even though a buddy of mine is using one in his Kit Fox plane.

I read somewhere that he built this because they outlawed PWC's in the country.

Yes I'm planning on tuning my impeller...I do it myself. I will make the trailing edge 2 degree steeper to begin with.

Yeah, 90 mph is really fast!! But the boat is really stable.... I gone 80mph in 1-2 feet chops without any issues.

RD, looks like you just found out how to power your 12'er.

How much would a motor package like that even cost? It sounds bitchin with the exhaust coming out of the transom. That would be absolutely amazing on a 12'er.

Nice project. It's great to have you here at RiverDave's Place.

Glad to be here guys!!

I have about 3-400pics from the build, so if anyone needs help let me know.
The engine and pump is taken from a Seado RXP jetski. The engine is a 1500cc turbo intercooled 4-stroke.

Here are some pics from the biggest boat-magazine in Norway:

jetling335_5.jpg

jetling335_6.jpg

jetling335_3.jpg

jetling335_4.jpg

And here is the translation:
First of... A "Musling" is a norwegian 12ft long dingy. It's the boat my boat is based on.
They are known to be overpowered with 70-90hp outboards. Specially by guys from the norwegian smalltown Lillesand...
The journalist also got some of the facts wrong, but most of it is good.

Title: With steroids in the stern

First page:

Short story, a "Musling 370" converted to a mini-cigarette. Beefed up with a waterjet and 350 turbocharged hp. Highest measured top-end 70,1 knots.

MINI CIGARETTE:
At first glance the Jetling 335 reminds us about its much larger "brothers" build in Florida. But they only have two things in common: Speed

Second page:

The little 10 year old boy came riding on his bike like he was from the next town, skidded his bike and ran with a shocked look on his face out on the jetty in the town of Lillesand.
-WOW! Omg it's fast, look at that speed! omg!! What is it? is it...is it? OMG!!!!!
Then he gave up.

Not even if superman him self had fallen down from Krypton right next to him, he would have been more confused. His mouth was wide open and his eyes was twinkling really fast. In an amazing speed, which even made the "musling-vaccinated" people from Lillesand open their eyes, Trond Ivar Trondsen (29) "thundered" by in his Jetling 335 at close to 70knots!

Third page:

Steroids in the stern: With between 350 and 370 hp in a 300 kg heavy converted Musling, Trond Ivar Trondsen has managed to push his craft up to over 70knots.

Fourth page:

It just became too much for the little kid. All in all it became too much for the both of us. The kid would gladly sacrificed both X-box and BMX with chopper handle bars for a tiny ride in this diabolic nutshell. While we tried to find a good way to get around it...

A crazy idea
The man behind it all is Trond Ivar Trondsen from Kristiansand. The fact that someone is able to make an 11ft dingy fly like this at 70knots in a rather safe way, is not something you see everyday, any place, not even in Lillesand where it for a long time has been tradition to run the Muslings with both 70 and 90hp engines.
To control a Musling on the anti-cavatation plate at 50knots takes a driver with good control, and it can easily go wrong. A jetski takes you easily and safely up to the same speed, but as we all know, those jetskis are frowned by the authorities as well as the police. Trond Ivar had a Seadoo RXP jetski, and got hold of an unused Musling which he then made a cast from. And then the crazy project was rolling.
- It was several reasons to destroy a perfectly working jetski to make my boat, Trond Ivar tells us while he sits in the little footwell of his Jetling 335. The boat weighs about 300kg and became about 120kg lighter then the originale jetski. And the speed-potentiale of the Musling hull is greater than the jetski. While the top end on the jetski was about 60knots, I have now succeeded to get the boat up to above 70knots, he says, like that takes neither knowledge or courage to achieve. Compared to the jetski the weight has been moved backwards by moving the engine, pump, battery etc as far back in the boat as possible to achieve the best center of gravity.
I like the thought of a fast boat better than a fast jetski, and now its also legal to drive says Trond Ivar.

Lots of tweaking
The last year has gone to tweak the hull and the engine. He now considers the hull to be 98% finish, with fine-tuned trimtabs both on the side and under the pump makes the boat behave totaly undramatic according to Trondsen.
- It's very easy to control and is not so squirrly at the stern anymore. But still I'm gonna tweak a little more on the engine. The originale jetski-engine puts out 215hp with a supercharger and intercooler. I have increased the output to about 350hp with the help of a turbo, which gives me more boost, bigger intercooler, bigger injectors, stronger valvetrain to be able to run at higher rpms, racing ecu, bigger impeller, pump setback-kit which moves the pump further backwards and therefore gives the pump a greater volume of water in front of the impeller, which gives the boat a better hookup. Tells Trond Ivar who works as a test-engineer in the oil-industry. But test-rides with the Jetling 335 is for the test-engineer. We want to stay foot on mother earth for now...

Under the upper left small pic:
CAN BE MOVED:
The steering position can easily be moved from the starboard side to center if Trond ivar Trondsen wants to ride alone.

Upper right small pic:
FUNNY:
Trond Ivar Trondsen wanted to make a fun boat.
and it became unique.

Lower left small pic:
MUCLEPACK: Jetpump and engine has Trond Ivar Trondsen taken from a seadoo jetski. The hull is from a Musling.

Lower right small pic:
BEEFY STUFF:
The water jet pushes the Jetling up to above 70knots.

You guys have to excuse my english I'm from Norway
It's been translated as directly as possible....

its wild to watch that video, it looks like all the other videos off the back of the 30+ ft cats at Desert Storm. The crazy part is that it is an 11' jet.

awesome little ride!! thanks for sharing! :thumbsup

Thanks guys!!

Now RiverDave, I just read trough your build-thread on that 12ft'er..... Now THAT's an awsome build man!!!

When I see the pics of the hull, I can see that it looks almost like mine used to do. But the design of the strakes made the boat do a spinout at 70mph++.

So I changed the design....

Haha, it's from a boat used to own.

25000cc/50hp and 3500kg (7200pounds)

Here's a small movie:
Me and my friend are starting the engine.... drunk as a skunk!!

It's not that crazy when you figure jet skiis are doing 70+mph right out of the box.

That's right!!

But it's still pretty exiting to go past 80mph in a hull that's never been tried before, and weights in at 100pounds less then the ski.

By the way.... There are tuned skis at 9ft going 100mph++

But my boat is not at all finish. There is still alot more speed to come!!

By "river aware", I'm pretty sure Brian means boating naked at extreme speeds in heavy chop with no crotch strap or harness to keep things under control. Brian likes the flapping.

Don't be put off, though. Brian is the friendliest guy on the site. :thumbsup

I think we are going to need a ruling on the field here????... Is it lake lice or a jetboat?? :headscratch::hmm

Can we get an official ruling on this one?. You know so we can direct the correct derogatory terms in order to begin offending someone?.... :p:D

Also, did they say Lake Lice are banned where they come from??? How do we accomplish that miracle here? ;) :D
