Thank you! Plan for now is Parker enduro and the elsinore enduro. If we feel comfortable putting big power to it ( handling wise) we may go gn racing a little

Nice, sounds like a fun plan. I'm enjoying your efforts, quite inspirational. I almost worked on mine yesterday. haha

I'm curious and would like to clarify, it appears when you placed the stringers you bedded them on 2 strips of 3 oz. mat? How much wider were the strips than the stringer wood? In the photo it appears maybe 1/2" each side? Do you then come back and grind that extended area to help create a fillet type area at the base of the stringer or do you just let the following tab/layers wrap and roll over it? How does that work?

You are correct about 1/2" larger each way. After it dries I just barely kiss it with a 4" grinder knock off the big stuff then ready for tabs.

I see, thanks for that reply. When you tab it do you mean you are laying a strip of mat/cloth the length of the stringer extending up and out from the base connection? If yes, how far up/out? Is there a standard ratio for that dimension?

Yes you are right prestec. 80 was my final grit. A 150 would make for a shinier surface I'd think. I was on borrowed time at the time we sprayed. Gonna run his one as is for enduro then colorsand it when shes pulled apart for anodizing. That's the plan anyways

Got the plates finished , polished and off to anodized (a long with another set we are doing for a buddy). Had to add this tube to hold swivel jack. Its removable with bolts tapped into 1/4 steel. Welded a plate on the front but left the back open so I could put nuts on as well. Rudder guard tomorrow !

Picked up some stainless fenders ! Plan is to weld this plate steel to trailer chassis while fender is bolted to same plate. Should look like a "floating" fender. No steps or bars just a fender. Still messing with clearances ect. I forget how much room to leave between tire and top of fender. 1 1/2" I've heard fully loaded. I'm thinking 2 1/2 or 3" with just the boat ?? Engine and 100gallons of fuel should squat it down an inch I'm guessing

Waiting for some bondo to dry so I thought I'd send a pic of the latest parts! Eliminating down pedal spring completely bu installing a full hydraulic down pedal system!! This boat is very flat so we think it will benefit quite a bit from this. Especially for parker 336 where itll be at speed for quite some time .

You did a Great Job , I am impressed how your 1708 laid out.
I just did some glass work on my stringers and hull bottom, and had a difficult time laying a sheet 23" x 72"
I used west system 105 and 206 harder , I wetted the 1708 then laid it down, It was very difficult to get the air bubbles out before it kicking off.
Keep the up dates coming,

Thankyou! I used a poly/ vinyl blend on the resin. I dont have a lot of experience (or the bankroll for ) with epoxy resin. I'd like to get more familiar with it though

WOW have you been a busy bee, Those motor mounts came out supper nice.
I like that old school Fuel Gauge, Can't go wrong with that one.
Your way ahead of me on the RESTO , I'm waiting for the tanks and an engine.
The Epoxy is easy one pump epoxy to one pump Harder.
I did not like the way it turns white when you tabbing, with 1708 the epoxy and looks like air voids.
But it is not trapped air, I drilled in one and it was solid.
Keep it going, PJ,

What is the thickness of the engine mounts?
I'll have to get some 6061 and cut some up.

most commonly 3/8" 6061 is used F & R however if you really want the ultimate in badasserie you could step up to 7075. Are you planning a top of stringer mount system such as the O.P.'s here and many other circle racers installs or the more common between the stringer mount resting on
2-1/2"x2-1/2"x1/4" angle? Amongst the many cool rigging details employed here by the NRBR I really like the chamferred angle on the motor mount pads, in a machine shop it's relatively simple, outside of that a bit more tedious effort. It's clean subtle details like this that make a well built race boat stand out from the others. Nice work NRBR.

I was just going to cut the front a simple u shape and bolt it to some 1/2" angle aluminum to my stringers.
I have a 71 Campbell cruiser not a race boat with 12 X 2 stringers .
The rear I have is the standard Glenwood with keys bolted to stringers.
I seen those cool rigging's, they would of been nice in my Aquacraft flatty.
Very nice boat and set up you have.

clarification......not my dealio.

A project of that specific caliber is a little above my pay grade yet, but maybe next year?
I was simply addressing your question on motor plate thickness and acknowledging the OP'S quality detail work.
I have a spare front motor plate very similar to the one pictured if you'd be interested.

Lol no worries at all. Correct mounts that bolt directly to block are 3/8 6061. Update on this project , ran it last weekend and didn't perform like we wanted after throwing 6 props at it. Coming back apart and turning back over to see where we made a mistake..... it's a little evil on de acceleration.

Evil on shutdown, is it white knuckle evil or shit yur pants evil? Either way that doesn't sound like much fun at all especially on a race boat where hard deceleration going into turns is kinda handy. How are its characteristics in the other areas? Does it set well, handle chop well, accelerate out of turns well? Have any video to share by chance?

It has a small period of time the moment you let off where it will aggressively try to turn on it's own, usually right. Boat rides very flat unless you're hard on gas. After talking with some people that have similar boats I've come up with : change steering pulleys to ball bearing and tighten the shit out of steering cables, change the shape of drop chines and drop the gear. No video yet as the ski boat is having a prop made . But will have video next time boat goes on the water. Cant wait to clean 2 boats next test session...

I know my 21 Howard is different, but I went with 7.5 and 27" and it did wonders for it. Of course I was trying to get it to carry the bow and take a good set at full throttle, and I usually decelerate gently.
