Anyone have one of the new 6.8 gas engine f250s?

How is the fuel mileage on the highway not towing.

Considering a F250 Gas crew cab 4x4. As I can't find what I want in a Chevy. The chevy 2500 I had averaged 15mpg round trip to the river. Possibly Considering a 1500.

I want a 6.5' or standard bed 2500. LT gas leather with the fold up console. 4x4. I searched every 2500hd available. Color gray since silver is no longer a option. My other option is Katskin leather added.

I would assume similar mid teens on MPG.
If milage is a cosideration, I would look at the Chevy/GMC baby dmax.
Unless towing 8k+ routinely go with the half ton w 6.5 bed!

If I was going gas on an F250 I would just step up to the 7.3L Godzilla.
90% of use will be driving to and from the river not towing. So fuel mileage is a concern not tow capacity. Otherwise I will just buy another Duramax if towing is my plan

I have a Diesel in my 3500 work rig. And a 6.0 in my 2500hd that does 90% of the towing with dump trailers. Around town.

Long bed is 48 gallon tank. You don’t make it without stopping with the small tank unless you are empty.
One way?
I could go there and back on 1 tank with a 36 gallon tank with the gas 6.6 that was stolen. Not towing but bed full and 5 passengers.
270 Miles each way

So for fuel mileage I have 7.3 with 4:30’s. And I cut the front air dam. Driving 80 I get 14mpg.
The air dam is 1mpg less when you cut that dam snow plow down.

So with the 6.8, 3.73 and keeping the air dam you should get 15mpg maybe 16mpg.

But you got those big as tires so probably right back down to 14mpg maybe 13mpg.

Never understood why people pick brands to hate as if theirs is any better. They all have flaws. I thought those conversations were for kids to argue about who’s dads truck was better, not grown men.

Dude...

Your expecting Adult behavior, on a site where the proprietor, whines about text bubble colors???

And half of the inmates, scream like little girls, when their TicToc account goes down???

Good luck with That!

🤞😁

Sorry I was thinking loaded. You were getting way better than 15mpg unless you came in on fumes.

If you are mainly driving to the river either this truck get a 1/2ton use your other trucks for towing.

I think it showed 16.8 sometimes better with no traffic. With traffic it was around 15mpg avg. I would almost always fill up in parker..

I have searched every 2500 HD in the US. Next I will check 1500s.

They are hard to find with the 6.5 bed. That's how I ended up with the 2500.

I drive all three…6.8, 7.3, and 6.7 diesel.

6.7 is my personal truck. 2022 F350 Tremor. Best I’ve seen babying it is 19mpg…it’s stock, and I have no idea how people get 20+ unless they’re tuned/deleted.

I drive the 6.8 and 7.3 for work. There is no comparison. The 7.3 (2022) is awesome and the mileage difference between it and the 6.8 is negligible at best. If I wasn’t towing an 18K toyhauler, my personal truck would be the 7.3. I can’t imagine any selling point that would give the 6.8 an advantage. The 7.3 gets 12 in town and 15-16 on hwy being nice. I’m seeing just about the same in the 6.8, but it’s not nearly as sporty as the 7.3.

We have the 7.3 gas engine in our 2wd C&C F350 shop truck with a 12' flatbed. We love it. 17k miles so far and zero issues. We are now shopping for a 4x4 extended cab long bed SRW F250 with the same 7.3 gas engine for a utility bed build to replace our 300k mile 6.0 vortec chevy truck that wont die.

I was really happy with the gas 6.6 I had. Problem I have is its $77,500 otd with the extras I had dealer installed for same truck but white. As silver is not a option.

They offered me $48k. So I would have to pay almost 30k out the pocket to get what I had. So considering all options. I don't mind white. But honestly Silver was nicer.

3rd battery

keyless door lock... 3 digits, worn (LOL)

Interior - Great shape for mileage
everything works.
cool/heated seats

I'm thinking let er go, before tranny/motor replacement calls me..

I'm looking for F150 5.0 used 2020/newer replacement. (Red or Bright Blue)

I'd get me a diesel.... if I didn't average 30k +/- annually ..

can't help much on the 6.8l as mine is a 2022 with the 6.2l, but I can say this with 11,000+ lbs behind it on flat ground turning 35's..... HELL YEA!!!!!!!!!!, Small block towing this kind of weight at 1600 RPM I will take any day, I took this pic on the way to Glamis Thursday, what ever you do make sure it's a crew cab long bed to get that 48gal tank......it's a trip saver

I drove a 2017 6.2 F250 at my last employer, I think I put 60k or so miles on it in 3 years. Never any issues with it, but I was always underwhelmed by that engine. It was a bare bones fleet truck, so maybe it was detuned? Compared to the GM 6.2, it was an absolute dog. I put another 40k on a 2014 6.2 raptor after that truck at my current employer. Again, zero issues with the engine. It definitely felt more sporty, but I never towed anything of any weight with that truck. As a W2 employee, I will always own gas trucks as a personal rig as they are just so much cheaper to fix if they break, but have never owned a Ford gasser myself (vortec 454 & 8100 trucks in my driveway). I'm a huge fan of the 8100, except for the fuel consumption :(

I have a E350 I bought from Chanel with the 6.2 gasser. Rig is loaded down. It does well but I rarely go on the freeway with my gas rigs.

Hard to compare it to my 2016 gas Chevy 6.0 as the rigs weigh so much different. The chevy hauls dump trailers regularly.

I have a 4.8 chevy express 2500. That feels way underpowered. Even my mini tundra v6 feels more powerful but weighs like half probably.

My Duramax truck weighs over 12k lbs but definitely has the most torque.

I found a 1500 with exact same options I want. Waiting on a otd price. Same dealer I bought my 3500s from.

I think everyone knows this but the faster you go above 70 miles an hour on a truck if you economy takes a crap trucks aren’t very economic and the larger tires makes it even worse. Depends what you’re looking for.

Might want to research lifter failures on the 7.3, apparently that's an issue. I just read a short story/advertisement on Engine Labs web site of the issue and the "fix" that the Melling Co. Has for it. First I've heard of it but then again I'm not in the industry/biz.

One of the moms at kids school has a new pooper dooty with the 6.8 and it’s been a good truck. That’s the only way I’d buy one personally. My neighbors 6.7 powerjoke has the famous def light and cel lighting his face up. I wouldn’t touch any diesel with any cat piss hyper burning filter 😂

I searched XLT and most had the 6.8 as well with a $1700 deduction for it. Could not find a 7.3 in Silver 4x4.

I found a Duramax with all the options my other truck had and a 1500 with 5.3. But can't find a 6.6 gasser.

Half ton is 63k plus fees. DURAMAX 75K PLUS fees. If I order the gas 6.6 msrp shows 68k plus fees.

Dealer has a white one with 6.6 gas.

Ford came out with a “fix” they up the idle oil psi.

Suppose that’s one thing my truck has going for it is the 7/100k warranty I don’t have to worry.

Since we are talking fuel mileage I get 14-15 out of my F450 running close to 80 and 4:30 gears.

Get 9.5 towing my 44' TH at 70.

Just get a 450 :)

My last 450 was a 6.0. That turned me into a Chevy guy. It did have a great turning radius though.

I’m Having a 7.3 gas delivered this week and Getting rid of my raptor. Have a few friends with fleets that have completely gotten rid of their diesels and gone to the 7.3 gas with great success.

Raptor doesn’t do anything good except look cool. 😂
