You need to call and be the squeaky wheel and tell them get your shit done. It’s been what 6 months?
Dropped it off in November. Dropped off the new heads and drivetrain early/mid February. Been calling about once a week for 2-3 weeks and each time I just get told about another week

Sucks Man I know the feeling I went through a year long deal with that shit hole iguana marine a few years back at least your boat is at a reputable shop I didn’t know better at the time taking it where I did.

Similar situation here but, it’s going according to plan.

Mine (full rebuilds) is all but done. Waiting on the new Mercury props which have shipped. I was told the work would take roughly 4 months up front and that’s about what it has taken. I’m in the same shape as you in that I’ll have no break in time before SCFW. Teague will be running it up at the local lake before I take possession however, I’ll have to limit revs and modulate at the event and likely at DS. I have an early May appointment at Barrett to change out the oil and filters. Both the motors and drives will be serviced since the lower gear sets and shafts were replaced. Once that’s done, I’m hoping I’ll be good for the year.

That said, I am forever the optimist..

Exact same dates and answer a friend of mine is getting from them.

I know they do solid work and it will be done right, but definitely frustrating to not really get a straight answer especially with a trip planned for right around the corner.

Agreed. Friend bought another boat but is waiting to list the one there. Hopefully you both will get them soon.

Not to air it on here. But it’s time (probably way passed time) as said to be that squeaky wheel. As I’ve told you. Time to be that guy. Almost to asshole mode. Just sayin.

In my opinion whoever screams the loudest learning up to supercat and ds is gonna get their shit worked on.

Seems to me that there is more of a captive audience in Havasu. Certainly there are a few great shops but, there are a lot of high performance boats in town as well. As a result, the shops all have a lot of work and, by necessity, schedule way out in advance (at least during the season) and also have timing set backs like a lot of shops do from time to time. As a further result, in general, I’d say prices are a bit higher as well.

The Bimini thread is a good example. I was quoted $5,000 for a high speed one (in town) with a 4 month lead time. I ended up paying over $2,000 less for what I believe to be an equivalent one in So. Cal. in a much quicker fashion.

Over the years I’ve had our boats at Teague, GT Performance and at what was then known as Paul Phaff. In well over 95% of the cases, my drop off and finish dates were either met or exceeded. Further, the cost estimates were typically spot on and the work was excellent.

I guess the point I’m making is sometimes it’s worth dragging your boat a few hundred miles to get what makes sense for you on any given work or circumstance, that requires a timeline that has to be met. Essentially it’s worth exploring a few options before pulling the trigger on significant work.

As I noted earlier in this thread, I had full rebuilds done at Teague along with a full page of miscellaneous other stuff including a new driver’s side simrad, bilge pumps, blower motors, props and other maintenance or replacement items. I dropped off the boat on the appointed day and I’m getting it back within the time frame and costs quoted.

I went by this morning to take a look and they are almost there. Assuming that there are no issues (and I’ll go out on a limb and say there won’t be since Teague is on their game), I’ll definitely continue to be a satisfied customer.

Anyway, sorry to hear about your trouble. I’ve been there and I know it sucks.

It’s inside, wasn’t ready, they are finishing it up this morning. They told him today sometime for sure. 🤷

We’ll see. As of this morning they still had to get the headers/exhaust back on, and lake test to tune the carbs. They said it will be done by the end of today. So hopefully jam back down to Havasu first thing in the morning and pick it up right when they open. At pirates til Sunday.

Saw ChrisV and his m26 yesterday as I was getting into town. Boat looked super clean!

Ya. My frustration for him is tough to deal with.
But can’t really post what I feel.
If he’s unhappy with them and wants to try someone new down the road I’d recommend so cal speed and marine. They’re great. Unfortunately they don’t work on outboards so I had to find someone new. But so cal is a class act

I can’t speak for him. But I do know the work done is top notch. Sometimes things just hit hiccups. But that said. It can super frustrating as well.
He just wants to be on his boat.

Boat get on the water?
Yeah but still fighting a few issues. Ran solid all day, carbs still need a little bit more tubing I think. But the last run of the day a couple of my gauges started going kind of haywire, oil pressure would shoot way up then go right back to normal, fuel pressure gauge would drop way low then go right back to normal. So trying to figure out if it’s just an electrical/sender issue. Or if I’m actually having problems.

I would bet money you have a loose ground wire. They would all not go sporadic like that as that would be completely different types of issues all showing their ugly head at once

That is what I am thinking as well. They just tested my alternator also because last trip out my volt gauge was going crazy also. And it did it again yesterday. For oil, fuel, and voltage to all fail at the same time seems pretty far fetch. So pretty sure it’s just a wiring issue like you said.

Has to be a ground for everything going at the same time.

I would also see if maybe you have a bad cell in one of your batteries.

I had my perko switch on all batteries yesterday. I’ll swap it to one side and then the other and see if that helps eliminate it

Absolutely nothing more frustrating then dropping some gold at a premier repair shop to get your issues handled. Then have more issues once you get it back. This is the true definition of boating. 😁

Ran much better today. Ran down passed the sandbar and back. No issues with the gushes at all. Have a small amount of water in the bilge so the search will continue to find out where it’s coming from

And other deal you talked to me about. Seem to be better also. ??
Sorry. Forget we are on a public forum sometimes. Call me if that’s better way than on here for now.

When was the last time you changed your impeller housing? Seems we are having to do that on my motor every year. The cheap plastic keeps wearing out and forming leaks. That's where my water was coming into the bottom of my bilge

This is the second time out with the new impeller. I’ll check it out though

This was 1 season in a 650hp motor with Teague sea stainer. My mechanics are now going to make it a part of normal routine to swap it every season. Apparently I'm not the only one having this issue.

@JFMFG The shop is not as small as people are saying.. We have Cody now he came from Absolute. So we are more then capable of servicing your Mercury in board or outboard. We have a new crew and new location!

@Rkc how did the rest of your weekend go?
It wasn’t too bad. The gauges never wigged out on me again the rest of the trip thankfully, but definitely still need to have the carbs worked on more. It makes it tough to dock and trailer the boat when it stalls nearly every time I put it into forward gear. I checked my impeller housing and found no water at all coming out from it. So the search continues to find where it is coming from. I was able to get about 1/4 turn on every bolt on one of my sea strainers but it was still dripping even after that.

Bummed I didn’t get a chance to run with any of you guys, was looking forward to it. Stayed up river for the most part. A lot easier to float down river back to camp rather than up lol.

That's good to hear and I have used your river method as power for sure. I love and hate mine at the same time. She is such a selfish bitch!! My mechanic said I was cursed because I had no name. I decided to finally get one. Doing final design on it now, going to shrink the letters and the DE will be much smaller. Let me know what your think? You will laugh for sure. My 10 year old loves it. Says it doesn't count to say when in Spanish.
