24 Twister 4 seat Convertible Canopy

[21 Trick]

True 24 Twister Cat Single outboard Built in Finland for Class-C Offshore Racing.
They typically build Inline canopy for Racing. There have bee a couple open boats shipped to the East Coast.
I was able to have Harri modify the mold and Build A side bye Side Canopy with Room for rear seats. The Canopy Lid can be removed like a Convertible.

This is the Inline Canopy 2 seat Race boat. The Class runs stock 200xs capable of 110 mph.

I am building a 15" 300xs for now. Hopefully Mercury will build a 360R 15" Ros sometime in the future.

Yes Its been awhile since my last Cat the last 3 Builds were F-2 Ski race Boats. Been dreaming about this build for years.
I do love the 300R on the Labsport already racked up 200 hours the last couple seasons.
I think the 15" mid is better suited for the Twister although the Transom was built to go either way. I am sure if Merc offers a 15" 300R or 360 R It will be pricy.
Joe Abelero is building a bullet proof 300xs with all the goodies.

I am curious how much head room you will have? I purchased an open hull, and my new 300R is in shipping finally?
Maybe relate to how tall are you to be able to fit in that setup?

I am not sure on headroom Dimension See photos I just got yesterday Looks Roomy. The boat ships this week so I will let your know when she arrives.
The Canopy is laid up with Carbon/Kevlar so I talked them into doing the floor and side structure to match keeping exposed with some Gator step.
Fuel tanks are positioned the same as yours and I plan to have some light Side Panels.

Is yours the recent build that was painted ?. I plan to just touch up Gelcoat if Needed. If so Paul sent me Photos Looks Nice!! Looking forward to seeing Rigging updates.

I will be keeping the boat At the Parker Az house for the most part Running with the Lid off. I wanted the option to have the hardtop to run in the Winter
on the strip and Long Runs from Havasu Springs up into the Gorge. Also plan to bring home and Run offshore on select Days.


I will be Splitting Roof Hatch using Rear 18" section as part of light Backrest and Bench with removable Cushions. This will hinge from the back to access Rigging area.
It will also make a nice step to enter Boat from the Back.

Front Section will Hinge forward or pull pins and remove.

Maybe a question for Paul but Looks like he rigged his with 20" 300X. I am thinking he has to run with Jackplate in up position with 20" Motor.

Going back a bit a couple build details.

Hull Lay-up is a Glass skin, Divinycell Core, Kevlar Structural laminate. Bulkheads and Transom Okume Plywood.

Canopy is laid up with Carbon/Kevlar.

Pauls open Cockpit Boat was around 840 pounds. I believe we will be closer to 1,000 with Canopy.

I have used Okume Plywood for my interior Side Panels, Hatches and benches the last few builds. Easy to work with lite and strong.

They build a Metal rack like a tilt trailer to fit the width of container.

That’s interesting, and kind of a shift from what I’ve always been told.

The bulkheads you’re showing are the lightest solution for the strength gain. That method puts more point loading on the components though, too, and I could see that leading to fracturing in really rough water.
Those boats run, and there’s lots to be learned from studying them.

Heres mine coming off of the cradle. Then we cut the base off of the cradle w/ a sawsall, and mounted it to a std vbottom trailer to be able to store and move around while a custom trailer was being built. Didnt affect the current bunk settings.

I have been lucky using Pacific Trailers In Chino Ca. loading dock to slide Boat out of container on my last 3 imports. The Labsport shipped from Australia a couple years ago.

They have already built the Welded Alum. Trailer based on my Drawings as in the past. Once the boat arrives they just do some final adjustments

18,900 Euros for Hull and open Deck 4 Seater. I am not sure what they will be charging for this new model they Custom Built for me to my Specs. I probably paid more to Modify Molds for the 1st Build. Message me if you want to Contact Harri for more info.

She Finally arrived after 4 extra weeks of shipping and Customs Delays. Big Thanks to Pacific Trailers for the use of the Loading Dock for easy removal.

Overall length 24 '2" Flush to Transom. Notch 12" Sponson length 23' 2" Tunnel length 21'2".

I plan to cut 3" Bustle flush and Cap.

Also removing plant on Outboard Pod and adding 16" x 30" Stringers next to existing knee braces that are not full height to transom.
See bottom of level for new transition.

Hatch seat will be glassed and Gel coated. 24" backrest, 18" seat, 24" leg room. 19 pounds as it sits.

Entire Boat inside and out will be Sanded, Prepped and re-sprayed.

I was able to get a few weekends in the last 6 weeks.

-Removed Fuel tanks and Windshield.

-Cut and prepped new Knee braces.

Built Side panels and Alum. Seat Mounts. I laminated 2 layers of 1/4 Marine Plywood to create the 3" bow. Primer and Painted with 2 part Polyurethane.

The Boat is at Fiber Composites getting Fully Capped, Transom Glasswork and Complete Gelcoat inside and out.

Side Panels and seats are at interior Shop.

Fuel Tanks getting Powdercoated

Seat Mounts anodized.

Keeping things as light as possible Side Panels and Rear Bench will Finish out around 50 Pounds with Vinyl.

Should be rigging 1st week of the year.

Glass work and Gelcoat going a little slow through the Holidays. Joel with Fiber Composites should have it finished up in a couple weeks.

Joe is finishing up the Motor this week.


Side Panels are wrapped.

Kyle at Wot Marine will be helping me with the Rigging. We have most of the parts so hopefully on the Water by early March.
