Atleast you sold yours for something worth it. I would never sell mine to use for a boat project! It wouldn't be enough money anyways! ;)

If/when the biz becomes profitable it can be decided if it was worth it.

Whats the black spray paint on the sides for?

They spray that black paint as a guide coat so that when they sand it you will be able to tell where the high and low spots are. When it's finished it will be as close to perfect without any ripples down the side.

Haha. I think that was the booze talking smack! I don't really remember the last part of Saturday night. It was one of those mornings where you wake up and say wtf happened? I'm pretty sure it was a good time though! :)

SchiadaStan has also been awesome in helping me gather parts, and helping me fabricate aluminum parts needed for the rigging. As of right now I think im gonna ditch the hatch and run 4 buckets and leave the entire center floor section open. Not sure if im gonna like it, so im going to save my rear bench and hatch so I can install them if needed.

Gel coated the same color as the inside of the boat. I have a bulkhead in the front that they will be mounted to, and I'm using the same strap as you in the back of the boat. These tanks are only 28gal a side. How much gas do I need to hold anyways when the boat just wants to go to foxs? ;)

Do you know what they use for an adhesion promoter to get a polystyrene resin product stick to an aluminium tank ?

I have no idea. Stan at Schiada has been gel coating tanks in some of the recent boats built and said he hasn't had any problems.

Tanks and boat, look great. Is there an advantage to gel coat over powder coat?

there are things we have to do to the tanks before gel if not it well crack and fall off the tanks. Some things we do here that we dont post on the boards. powder paint over gel coat. powder is a lot more easy to do, and cost a lot less. With gel if you are doing the inside of the boat you can get a better match on the tanks if they dont have powder to match. If you can use powder paint do it and dont use gel.
