A mix of both, way too many with college degrees (job is for entry level CSR). One thing that stood out from talking to the applicants is a lot of people recently laid off.

Previously I’d be lucky to get 20% of scheduled interviews to show up. Would get around 8-10 resumes per day. This time around it was around 50-60 per day and I even set a lower than recommended daily budget on the ad.
In curious as the reason they were laid off.

Awesome that you are getting some interest . Like you have mentioned hiring young girls over the last couple years at an entry level has been a nightmare. Its been so bad that we have actually put off hiring a part time csr because its such a pita.

We got crazy fortunate about 5 years back and hired an amazing girl her sr year. She has been one of the best we have ever had and a complete outlier from the previous 5 we had. We had 20 year olds that refused to answer the phone as they were scared and also girls that said they needed 3 weeks vacation 2 months in to go to europe with the family.
yeah it has been a nightmare in recent years... this time around it was hard to make a decision because there were so many, and all eager to work.

who knows how it'll go until they get going.... but at least there are options now.

The river was packed on Saturday. Jack Smith launch parking was nearly full. Pirates channel full of boats. Topock 66 full of boats. Beaches on all sides of the river full through the gorge. I was thinking to myself as I cruised south "no recession here".

This party is coming to an end, but until then, they'll play the music as long as they can.

@EmpirE231 and @JFMFG are the applications you're receiving qualified, over qualified or "hopefuls"? In the past, it seems getting a bunch of over qualified has been a bad sign. The past few years been an influx of "hopefuls", those that felt they "deserve" the job, but that was when most really needed warm bodies anyway.
Id say a mix honestly. I think some are just shooting apps to do it. Hired 2 both showed up for first day.

Look around…. Whether the “recession” happens or not… most have already lost due to the devaluation of the dollar / inflation or whatever you prefer to call it.

But yes… I’m still in the camp of “it’s coming”

It’s “always coming”.

We might not be able to call it a recession in the typical sence but I feel like the middle class are being absolutely hammered.

$$$ cost a bunch more than it did a couple years back.

Food, utilities, gas, insurance has gone up a ton in the past 12 months while most pay checks have stayed stagnant.

If you bought or refid when the rates were good that will at least stabilize the biggest outlay of $$$. I have friends that makegood $$$ but never bought houses and rent continues to climb to what i would consider outrageous levels and it's pinching them hard.
This is 100% how I look at this while situation. We are getting pounded.

Amex just pulled back 100k on my credit lines, no reason given. . They did this at the start of the pandemic. So someone above my paygrade is thinking shit is going to hit the fan.

Amex was the only credit card that shut my credit down during the 2008+ recession.

They can eat a dick.

Yup, It WAS my safety net so to speak. I had zero balance on one business 50k card, but had activity. They sliced it to 700$! WTF

And they turned off my No Credit limit on my Platinum.

I have a high FICO, I'm not sure why this all started. Its on my to do list to call them and bitch!

Agreed. And yet I don’t see any of them in my circles downsizing or cutting back in any meaningful way.

Post Covid YOLO is real.

FAFO

You do enough fucking around, you're bound to find out lol
there has been a LOT of economical / fiscal fucking around for a while now...

Sure, but what makes you think it’s going to stop? All governments are printing money. This has been going on for over 50 years. It will be going on when we die, and the middle class will be a lot smaller.

Im a commercial Electrical Contractor... 2023 will be the first year in my companies 19yrs of existence we are going down in sales. I started in 2004 and have had steady growth every year... not looking like it this year. Im guessing we will be down at least 25% from last years numbers. Still landing work but mostly just busy work, smaller projects that keep a few guys busy with very little profit.. hopefully that changes soon.
