I was really looking forward to this trip but unfortunately something came up. Is anyone waiting on an end slip? I think it was 45’. I plan to cancel in the next couple days but if someone here needs it, please email me your info & boat details and I can look into switching the reservation into your name.

Hi all, I just did my own dam run on Thursday. First time. It was a long ride from Katherines (we went about 40 the whole time due to the family on the boat), but we stopped at Cottonwood and checked it out. They had 91 fuel as someone previously mentioned (Katherines still only has 87). Also stopped and checked out Willow Beach. They also have 91. I fueled up there (having started the run down at Katherines with a full tank). Cottonwood and Willow are both excellent facilities. Navigating up to Willow Beach was totally fine.

Up river from Willow was fine until about mile marker 61. The last mile was totally hairy, at least to me with a 30' deep v bottom and a 5K CNC prop (and no spare on board). I wound up coming off plane and idling up, navigating by depthfinder and a couple guys in the bow looking for shallows/reefs and directing me to the deeper channel. At one point I noticed some serious river swirling and came up on a boulder field. Backed off and slid to the right, and made it around. I think I saw what someone referred to as the rock island on the left, and then about 100 yards up was another just barely submerged boulder or rock near the right wall. Got around that ok as well.

Made it up to the sign across the river where it was deeper. Sign was tough to read, in bad shape. Made it up to the river barrier, took some picks, marveled at the sights, and then floated back down, navigating around the shallows (never less than 4 feet deep in the areas I did wind up in), into the deeper channel (10-20 feet). Never once hassled by anyone or anything up by the river barrier, but we didnt stay more than a couple minutes.

Having done it once (it was a bucket list thing), I don't know if I would do it again, but I would recommend it for the ones who have not seen the dam from that vantage, its really amazing.

You all have a good run and enjoy it, I wish I could have participated in the event!

My friend and neighbor who has a bungalow at Kathrines Landing has to pull out. Wanted to offer it up to anyone attending before he canceled his reservation.

What's the current roll call? Anyone planning to cruise 40ish and occasionally bump it up to 50+? Wish I had the old boat to haul azz..

@FishSniper depends on the pace of the group i think we were back at Katherines by like 1-2pm i stopped in a cove on the way back last time and made it back at the time as i felt wind pick up and i knew the basin would be white capping. and it was me and a shockwave that wasnt on the run followed each other back to the marina

Last year seemed like everyone was just super excited to go. I stopped a few times for pictures and to hang out and never really caught up to the group. Years prior I had run it wot. I’m going to try to get out front and stop for pictures but we’ll see how it goes.

1 WEEK AWAY! Can’t wait!!!

just to clarify. This is not an event. There are no rules. Just a day (typically the 2nd weekend of August) when some boaters might want to see all of lake Mohave.
Looking forward to seeing everyone 🤙🏻

That's about the pace we will be doing. Older eliminator fundeck with an orange stripe. 👍

I’m going to try and get on lake Mohave early Friday and get the sand bar spot right to the left of the house boats if anyone is there Friday or Saturday after the dam run
Riley and I are dropping boats at Kathrine slips at 10am Friday, then back to house house for BBQ

What a coincidence, I've heard a few friends planning a leisurely tour that day as well.

Heading out Thursday. Will likely boat “locally” on Friday for a bit before the bbq and put her in the slip to be ready for Saturday. If anyone plans on boating Friday let me know. Been on this body of water twice when I was younger (18+ years ago) but never since having my own float.

We’ll be boating all day Friday and slip it until Saturday for run.

Yea last year wasn’t that fun in my book either in comparison. I’m planning to run the 45-50 group, lol, and plan at minimum one more stop between Cottonwood and Willow. Ideally in the same area as 2019.

Same here, I plan on slowing it down some compared to last year.
Fuel prices alone make me want to, we ran 90 gallons last year lol.

It’d be fun to be able to see a few rows while crossing the basin as well. Last year was just really unorganized amongst us all. Need to put @BHC Vic up front and let him pick some stops.

It’s not how fast you can get to the other dam .
It’s the cruise and the stops to regroup that makes it a great time .
Damn, I wish I could make this year but have other plans .
Have fun !

Yeah that’s me, it does move pretty good for it’s size but the best part of this boat is when the water gets rough I don’t have to slow down.

The big night is going to be smoked ribs and chicken Friday at @jeepdog ‘s
also considering doing tacos after the run like last year. Who would be interested in street tacosin the grass at Kathrines landing after the run?
Is there more info on the street taco plan? Is there a sign up, supply list or is it pay on site? @DWC @Nordic29 are you in?

Definitely doing street tacos. Currently planning on 5lbs each of carne and chicken. There is a local meet market, so we figured if it was going to require more, we would simply pick up more on Saturday before we cook. 🤙🏻

In response to the speed questions. There really aren’t any rules to this “non-event”.
last year was fast, but there wasn’t anyone leading, peoplejust seemed to push the sticks a little further. (Could maybe be attributed to all the “Californians” that had been locked up for months.;))
At any rate, go as fast as you want, as slow as you want, we’ll be meeting up throughout the day. We are all performance boaters with ego’s, and sometimes people pass just for that reason. 😂

going to be a blast 🤙🏻

Awesome! Between @DWC @Nordic29 and myself we will have 8. We can venmo or pay cash on site. Let us know if a supply list is started to contribute. Can't wait!

I remember seeing his DW last year. Beautiful boat.

The DW with 450’s is my Lotto/Lottery boat. Unbelievable how it feels like a sports car on the water. Danced across some big slop like it wasn’t there with great acceleration.
