I haven’t seen pricing on this new one but I can’t imagine it will be 60k. Vetts are known to be a bargain but there is no way they are going for 60.

Is there?

Talked to my family dealer back home, he is saying 60,000-100,000. Not including the ZR1.

Will the ZR come with s/c or turbo? Friend has a Lingenfelter 757HP ZR1Vette, was well over 100K;)

That makes zero sense.. thanks for the informative post.. dealer mark up will be high for the first 1-2 years

Never been a vettte guy always Porsche. But I do like tha they went for a md engine design and really changed the design and look. Too me they just become rattle buckets and I own a chevy in fact two them . But nice design and performance maybe be better.

That one is a c5 conversion. A carbon fiber, custom C1 body fitted onto a c5 chassis. You can tell because the car really does not have true c1 proportions. That is always the challenge with the rebodied cars.. this one they got right.

The windshield and doors are always the giveaway if the car is a re-bodied C5 or a re-chassised C1

Different angle with top up.

NCRS_Winter_07_008.jpg

That laid back windshield really hurts the look. IMHO

Some good info here, Leno gets a walk around with and engineer.

Strange to see Jay in a non-chambray shirt LOL

The exhaust is pretty quiet. I was expecting a throaty roar not a sewing machine when Jay started the car, lol.
Besides that the car is pretty impressive. Great to see a car company willing to take risks and not just rebadge the same old shit!

There are five different settings for the exhaust, I noticed that as well, he did not have it in sport or track mode, if it was it fires up with a pretty throaty crackle.

I am curious to sit in the new mid engine, but for now will enjoy the convertible C7
The C6 was my last vette, pic was from the day I sold it, but had just gotten the C7.
I do like the top down look on the C7, the convertible was the only reason I decided to move up. The C6 was an awsome ride too

Base car will be 60K an pretty basic (No mag ride, basic interior,no active exhaust)

Z51 will be 70-80K (sweet spot)

z06 will be 100-130K (It will have a smaller displacement twin turbo v8 out of the new Flag ship caddy V...This car will hurt alot of feelings)

Zr1 will be 150K plus plus (Who knows but it will be a monster of a car and wouldn't surprise me if it wen't hybrid in the front like the P1 or NSX)

I think the thing that will be the game changer will be fit and finish and chassis construction. Most exotics look like they are built one off at a race shop out back. Tube and square chassis due to cost and how many units they are able top produce. Look at the pictures of the casting and chassis of the C8. No other manufactuurer have had teh budget due to the limited volume. The C8 is going to bring the super car to the masses and will sell in high volumes.

I figure these things will be affordable and available for less than sticker after 6-10 months.

It's going to be one hell of a car. :)

I work in a hospital, and the buzz for this car is incredible. Half of the staff is in the configurator comparing builds. This car is going to sell like hotcakes. Lots of docs who currently drive European sports cars are showing lots of interest, I know of several who will purchase in the next few months- many currently drive M4s, 911s, Vipers and the like.

I don’t see a Z06 or ZR1 coming for several years at this point- sales aren’t going to fall off anytime soon on the base/Z51 platform.

I’m sure the dealer markup is gonna be huge for quite some time.

anyone else wonder how hard it is to get at the engine for working on? Watched Lenos vid and it sure seemed tight and a stretch from the sides/back to see anything

Don't know for sure, but I bet the body would be lifted off for work to be done. Cause it sure is tight and who would want to layover the body to work on it.

Not to worry. The new length of your member will be way out in front of the hood of the car.

I have to agree. At $60K I might pick one up (if I can fit in it, lol). You could easily dump that much cash into a 60's Muscle Car Resto, and still wouldn't come close to this ride!

My Dad wanted it to be all wheel drive. I wonder if that will be a future option?

Sat in one today. Probably the best seats I've sat in for any Corvette, and possibly any car to date. Head room will be tight for some and I feel this will be the biggest issue. Leg room is slightly better than the C7 from my limited seat time. In spite of having a shorter nose, it still appeared a distance out due to the long (fore to aft) dash distance. Not bad, but I didn't feel like I was at the front of the car.

The interior 'space' is much more confined than the C5, C6 and C7, but it is not uncomfortable. Passenger is not isolated from driver as the pictures make it out to be. Passenger can see the dash and screen easily, its just not focused on them. Glove box when opened touches my shins. Steering and paddles feel excellent.
As passenger and driver you are intimate with the car and each other. Not in a bad way necessarily. You wear this car more than others from my impression.

Most notable first glance items:

There is NO room behind the seats (duh...rear engine, I get it). Just used to tossing a hat or other stuff behind me on occasion. It's just glass and the motor RIGHT there.
The lower door sil/rocker is very broad. You have to go in towards the center of the car more than others.
Stainless tube headers curved up and back like marine exhaust very well shrouded with heat shields.
Trunk and frunk are good size. Just not the "reach at and store" interior space we are used to with the previous generations.
The motor looks sick (in a good way).

I was gonna try a 911 in the coming years. Now I will likely not.

The dealers probably won’t have basic units available for a long time. they will all be loaded up with $50k in options.
Jason at Selman said they have 55 customer orders and 132 allotted for inventory for 2020.

Ya, almost “perfect” Ferraris are always in the shop. If you know the story that’s how it all started (Lamborghini cars) because they, ferrari’s, were made so shitty .

The evolution of a thread...
Starts with revolutionary new 2020 Corvette
People hate on the new Vette saying it looks like a Camaro
Guys post their Vettes for sale
Guy posts a pic of his Lambo and how it's "perfection"
Someone says Ferrari is better than Lambo
Lambo guy says Ferraris are always in the shop

McLauren, as a purest they miss it is a bit of a funky body design and all turbo. The convertible is outstanding though.

Vette and Lamborghini get it, all naturally injected, no pint sized engine with turbos.

McLaren is behind both Ferrari and Lambo. Far behind Ferrari of course. :D

My friend has both a Lambo and McLauren convertible, great design on the top. For those that have the ability to own a late model Lambo, we know how little maintenance they need. I bet Mercedes owners spend more $$ on recommended service.
