My friend has both a Lambo and McLauren convertible, great design on the top. For those that have the ability to own a late model Lambo, we know how little maintenance they need. I bet Mercedes owners spend more $$ on recommended service.

Or just buy the v10 R8 for a bit less money and get the same thing :)

Lambo has gained a lot from Audi/VW, huge R and D, and it shows in reliability. Some parts are close to R8, but not many.

The Base 2020 Corvette Comes with All-Season Tires. Here's Why

It might seem counterintuitive to specify all-season tires on a mid-engine sports car, the goal for these tires is 1.00 g of lateral grip, which is higher than what the C6 Corvette could manage on summer tires.

Chevy's decision to deliberately reduce the dynamic capabilities of the new, mid-engine Corvette by making all-season, non-performance tires standard seems more than a bit counterintuitive. After all, the primary reason for moving the Corvette's engine behind the passenger compartment is to improve performance.

But, as Corvette executive chief engineer Tadge Juechter explains, "More customers than ever are saying that they’d really like to drive three seasons on the same tires." So, standard on the base FE1 suspension setup Stingray is Michelin’s new Pilot Sport All Season 4, a run-flat tire that Michelin and Chevy developed specifically for this car.

Tires have improved to the point that today's all-season tires can provide dry grip that's better than what summer tires could do not that long ago. Indeed, the primary goal of this new all-season tire was to achieve 1.00 g lateral acceleration—that's more than what the C6 Corvette's summer tires could achieve—while still permitting realistic three-season driving.

anyone else wonder how hard it is to get at the engine for working on? Watched Lenos vid and it sure seemed tight and a stretch from the sides/back to see anything

I looked at the engine compartment of one of the new Mustang’s the other day and there isn’t
room to do squat. It appears that the Vett is just about the same. If either of these cars run
anywhere near as reliably as all of the new cars that I’ve had in past 20 years, the tight engine
compartments shouldn’t pose much of a problem. (hopefully) lol

I work in a hospital, and the buzz for this car is incredible. Half of the staff is in the configurator comparing builds. This car is going to sell like hotcakes. Lots of docs who currently drive European sports cars are showing lots of interest, I know of several who will purchase in the next few months- many currently drive M4s, 911s, Vipers and the like.

I don’t see a Z06 or ZR1 coming for several years at this point- sales aren’t going to fall off anytime soon on the base/Z51 platform.

I’m sure the dealer markup is gonna be huge for quite some time.
Just spoke to 2 dealers and both are saying MSRP. But both are already sold out of their allotment!

Mid-engine cars are the absolute worst when it comes to engine accessibility.

There’s quite a few models so “which” McLaren, and what the scoring parameters consisted of, are important [emoji106]

Can confirm. They are and will always be a pain except for the De Tomaso Pantera, that chassis treats me well :). I grew up with Camaros but this new Corvette sure is a looker.

Word from my brother is he's getting two at his shop. He said "one for development and one for fun"

Must have been the Senna. :D
I apologize, it was the car and driver lightning lap around Virgina Internation Raceway. In 2015 the Corvette Grand Sport beat the McLaren 650S Spider. Then, just this past year, the 2019 Corvette ZR1 beat the McLaren 720S with the second quickest time they have ever had in the event.

Chevy is going to sell custom VIN numbers for the new C8 Vette

It was reported that the price will be $5,000

And no, not the whole VIN number will be custom just 5 or 6 (unsure) digits

Van is owned by Warren Buffett/Berkshire Hathaway. He isn’t a billionaire because he sells high demand stuff for sticker and takes thousands off sticker for low demand stuff........ :)

Local dealers advertise $69.999 cdn for the base Vette. I bet, once you order one, they find a way to add some bs to change that number.;)o_O F-150 Lariat's msrp is 73K, no way no how GM dealers will sell a Vette cheaper than that.:p

If you go with Rick Conti or Mark Furman, you'll probably get around the markup.

PLYMOUTH, Mich. — The 2020 Chevy Corvette is just about booked up for the first year’s production run. Michael Simcoe, GM design chief, said as much at the Concours d’Elegance of America, as a gleaming C8 sat on the lawn.

“I think the orders have already hit the first year of production numbers,” Simcoe said when addressing the attentive, large crowd at the golf course. We pulled him aside afterwards, and asked Simcoe to elaborate. Turns out, the C8 is extremely close to being sold out for the 2020 model year, but it hasn’t officially hit the mark yet. “It’s nearly sold out. It’s so close that it’s bound to be sold out soon,” Simcoe told us.

The reasons the C8 won't have a stick...

Executive chief engineer Tadge Juechter told Car and Driver that part of the reason is the desire to not breach the mid-engine C8's central tunnel: "That tunnel is the backbone of the car, and if you break the backbone, you lose a lot of structural efficiency. With a shifter, you have to have a big hole in the tunnel for the linkage to go through."

Another factor is the dramatically increased performance of the new Corvette's automatic, which, for the first time in the car's history, is a dual-clutch unit. The launch-control functionality and far quicker shifts of this new eight-speed would easily outperform that of a manual-equipped car; Chevy claims that the C8 will be capable of hitting 60 mph in under three seconds when equipped with the Z51 performance package, a dramatic improvement of about a full second.

It certainly requires a non-trivial investment to engineer, tune, and certify an additional powertrain variant, but Juechter's deputy, chief engineer Ed Piatek, told us that those are challenges the Corvette's ace engineering team would've happily overcome. Piatek said that the real thing that put the team over the edge in their decision was a lack of customer demand. Citing manual-transmission take rakes for the C7 Corvette, which started at or slightly above 50 percent when it launched as a 2014 model, he says those have more recently dwindled down to only 20 percent. (Perhaps these are the same cretins who have been begging for all-season tires, which are newly standard on the C8.)

And that just wasn't enough to secure a third pedal in the mid-engined Corvette.

So... Van had the C8 demo today, I wasn’t able to make it. I did however make it to AutoNation here in AZ yesterday to pick up a Tahoe for the better half. Spoke to my salesman about the C8. Was able to read his info about pricing. 59999 for the LT1, for those of us on the mailing list that’s no surprise. However,
I was able to find out Z51 package remains $5000, and auto-lift front end is $1999, (only available on LT2+). Wasn’t able to get a price on competition seats. NO MARKUP FROM MSRP AT AUTONATION DEALERS AND THEY HAVE SLOTS LEFT!! I almost ordered a 1LT/Z51/comp seat in white but the old lady said I’d have to sleep in it so I held off. If anyone needs a salesman hookup let me know. I’m still about 30 months off on a purchase.

$60K ? Was at Chevy dealer other day thinking numbers posted in this thread. The cheapest 2019 was $75K and all the nice Z06 2019 were over $100K. The nice white one that a young LAPD officer was trying to buy was $134K sticker.

The c7 starts in the mid 50s (not including rebates) but when it come to the c7s don’t bother looking at the sticker as the rebates are huge, people have been getting c7 z06s in the high 60s for a while.

Sounds like they’re getting ripped off with dealer markup...

Old models, 70's through current, look like Pintos compared to the new model.

My buddy went to LA to put a deposit down on Orange 2020 with LT2 trim package costing just under $80K. I guess Some colors you have to wait a year or more for but orange is part of the early release packages. He expects to have it in under 6 months.
