3500 ram with an Aisin trans and forget about it. and leave the damned thing stock. doesn't need all that silly bullshit. .02
I would not buy a Fiat truck
Ram owners what are you guys seeing for average mileage?
What do you guys think of the f250 6.2 gas? I will only drive it 5,000 miles per year and tow less than 8,000lbs.
I can’t see how to justify the extra money for the diesel for my use.
Currently have ram 1500 5.7.

Oh god
Have owned a few Duramax's. I know what real world is, just wanted to get an idea on the 6.7.
Ya i hear ya. I just don't think many people are capable of being honest. I would tell you what a deleted 6.7 gets but I have never checked and never will.
Hahaha 30 mpg's!!!! Pulling a 30 percent grade going 116 with my 388 while the wife is feeding the wolves in the back seat!!!
Reliable?Friend has a few I would buy 1 before a ford Diesel. 12-14 On highway 10 around town.
Oh god
HAHA!
Is it just me or is that a loaded question? No offense to all the ram guys here but I’ve heard unbelievable loads of heaping bull shit coming from dodge guys when talking about their MPG and the always funny “I dont even know its back there” when talking about towing their 40 foot + trailer.
-daily driver 16 mpg. 30 mile (each way)commute to work=78.5mph, home=20mph avg./trafficRam owners what are you guys seeing for average mileage?
what about lanyards? You forgot to wear your life jackets while towing...

The other thing I am noticing with the Ram's in stock at dealers is most don't have a limited slip.
You are right. But look up exhaust manifold bolts Ram Hemi. For that reason alone I will never buy another Hemi powered vehicle Again. The ram 2500 6.4 is the most powerful gasser, tows the most of a gasser and gets the best fuel Econ. At 65 on cruise I get 20-21 mpg. At 75 I get 18-19 and at 85 I get 16-17 unloaded.
Go close a door on a Ram than go close a door on a Ford... Back when Ford had the 6.0 and the 6.4 it was a no brainer Dodge buy. But now with the 6.7 it is even in the motor dept.
5.7l hemi issue not 6.4You are right. But look up exhaust manifold bolts Ram Hemi. For that reason alone I will never buy another Hemi powered vehicle for that alone.
The Ford is sweet for sure.
5.7l hemi issue not 6.4
6.4’s have it as well. Just not as rampant.
When the dealer admits it’s a known issue and tells me to fuck off and to sell my truck if I want it fixed permanently.
Last thing I’m going to do is go buy another truck from them, let alone another one that might have the same issue.
81k so far. Only issue was the converter lock up was not locking all the time on the freeway last week. Dealer installed a new unit and good to go.
I really want to like the Ram Ecodiesel.
But putting a European Diesel engine into an American truck...what could possibly go wrong?

Rumor is they will get rid of the EGR on the Cummins.

The piss tank hanging down on the GM's just annoys me, it as though it was an afterthought, shit we forgot to engineer in the tank.
On my new Ram I added a 60 gallon transfer tank in the back from KSH in Havasu that feeds in to the main tank with the flick of a switch in the cab. Takes my range to about 1300 miles now, meaning I only buy diesel in Arizona, saves me close to 75 cents a gallon, pays for the tank in no time.
Ford F250 CC 4x4 SRW 2015. All stock. Beautiful truck with the platinum pkg. Drives awesome. Tows a 45ft gooseneck race trailer. My favorite tow vehicle outside of mine. Only issue is the small fuel tank. We raced July 7-9th in High plains Colorado. With a headwind we were getting 9 mpg and were lucky to get 200 miles per tank of diesel. Love this truck but still not sure if I could own a ford due to its reputation on diesels. Feels like a big heavy truck but steers and drive well around town. Still see more Ford diesels on the side of the road than I do anything else. Right now Ford has the best looking truck outside and in. If they’d offer a 200k mile 10 year warranty I’d probably roll the dice and buy one.
All that said 70k for a new truck is fucking nuts
Was your warranty extra? If so how much?I purchased a 2018 F350 Platinum almost two months ago with 150k 8 year warranty and prepaid service. That is the absolute most they offer.
My BIL has a 2016 Ram 2500 and my dad has a 2016 GMC 3500, the F350 absolutely out preforms both trucks in all aspects. With the exception of price tag and the dodge is beating me on MPG by 2 but it is also the oldest with most miles. I only have 1700 miles.

This is my biggest problem with new trucks! Crazy money.
Glad it’s working out for you.
But answer me this, what would you do if the dealer said they know your converter is a POS and it’s always going to fail.
If you can’t live with it get rid of the truck?
Then what?
Lol I use to work at dealerships. They are far from god on the answer. That is a stupid comment end of story.
My gas ram has a “max care” factory extended warranty
Unlimited mileage
Unlimited time
It’s badass. You cannot get it on the diesels
That's 10,000 plus a year no it's not.If you keep it for 10 years it’s worth it. I guess.....lol
I’ve driven and towed with all 3 for 1,000’s of miles and can give a decent review on it.
Ram 1 ton CC 4x4 dually 2013. All stock. Impressive torque. Towed a 52ft race car trailer with living quarters from Dallas to Road Atlanta and back, Dallas to Austin and back, Dallas to Collage station and back, & Dallas to Indianapolis and back for SCCA racing. Power was never the problem with this truck even thought it went through two ASIN transmissions before it had 10k miles on it. The brakes sucked and there was a towing module brake issue where it would lose contact ofter and beep like your fries were done. Drive a man fucking crazy when driving over 1k miles in a day to get to the race track. Also had issues with leaking radiators. Never left us stranded though. Compared to the Allison I think the trans shifted like a school bus. This truck has the Laramie pkg with every option. Looked & towed great but there was a sense the little things on this truck would fall apart and leave you stranded sooner or later. Truck only had 70k miles or so last fall. Always towed with it and go 9-10 mpg.

My 2006 Duramax. CC 4x4 2500. Some mods. EGR blocker, Edge EVo Race, 55 gallon titan tank etc.. I have to say my truck always impresses me. I have a 36 ft edge gooseneck and a 5th wheel 38 ft Genesis toy hauler and it pulls like a hungry bitch. In the last 12 months I have put her though the ringer running full loads of heavy shop equipment from Orange Co to Scottsdale 4X's, Scottsdale to Wilcox/race track 3x's, Scottsdale to Flagstaff, Scottsdale to Buttonwillow, Scottsdale to Silver Strand San Diego & Scottsdale to Newport beach. All this with 190k + miles on the truck. East on the 8 from San Diego is a true test to a truck in my opinion. Its a serious beating on your truck with what seems like a never ending grade. I tow on tow mode/locked converter and tap shift my truck. Towing is a momentum game so there are times where I’m hitting 75 mph at the bottom of the hill to gain speed to get up the hill. On that trip I did see two newer fords with the hood up on the side of the road as I trucked on by. I gained a whole new level of respect for my truck after that trip and decided to just keep it in tow mode (level 2) for now on Instead of level 4 on the programer. Towing it gets 9-11 mpg. I tow around 70-80 mph. Its what the truck likes. Not towing I get 16-18 mpg hwy going 80 + ish mph. My truck has needed new front hubs, two hydro boosts, upper ball joints, pitman arms and typical stuff. I had to replace the rear end due to a plug weld popping on the axle tube to cast housing. Thats a vendor part. American Axle (Same company that makes Dodges) so cant really blame GM. GM stepped up at 112k miles and covered the parts. I paid for labor and got a new rear axle. The only time I was stranded was at the Laguna Hills Costco when the steering pitman arm joint broke in 2017. 1.5 mile tow and fixed it myself in the driveway. Never a mechanical failure IE drive train.
I personally think GM got it right with the duramax just as cummins built their engine right. Over the years they have refined it and made it better and even more reliable. Ford has been through what like 4 completely different engines since the late 90’s? Typical of Fords engineering process though. They all seem to have their fail points however. I’ve seen how stupid guys drive their trucks and it’s no wonder when some have some kind of catastrophic failure. I race cars and perhaps look at different things when considering a vehicle. I prefer to have a tight suspension to feel the road, tight fast shifting and a power band that I can control with shifts and throttle. After driving all three I can say the GM Duramax/Allison combo offers the best of those worlds. Its even referenced in the 2018 test posted earlier in this thread. For whatever reason GM underrated their chassis and doesn’t have as high of a tow rating as the fords and Rams. This is a mistake on their behalf and had driven people to the other tow for liability reasons alone.
All that said 70k for a new truck is fucking nuts so buy what you like and make sure you have the longest warranty you can buy for it. Keep it for 10 years and you’ll get your money out of it if it stays running.
The 2020’s are new for all 3. They now have crazy tuned power stock. I’d like to see 500 hp and 1000 lbtq with a warranty and a hidden piss tank on the GM trucks. I did have a beer with a global director at Allison while at Indy who informed me of the Allison 9 speed for the 2020 trucks. I think that’s what I’ve been waiting on for an upgrade.
Cheers!
