Im not a fan of mohave either. Between the lines at Katherine's, the pass BS, Leo's on us like a swarm of bugs, just hasn' t been a fun trip the 4 times we've gone. It's no Havasu!

Im doing it this year for sure
I'm in Vic,think i'm going to be a pussy and launch at cottonwood. My new to me boat eats a lot of gas when it's hauling ass so think cottonwood would be better for me.Boating on Mohave for 18yrs. and love the fact that it's not crowded and easily find a cove to hang out in with no one else around. No it's not Havasu and that's just fine for me and the guy's that live here.

This is by far my favorite trip of the year. Not sure if we can make it this year.
For selfish reasons I’d like to propose a date of July 28.

Just booked my room for August 9-12. Front row view, right on the grass for bbq and beverages Saturday night!:) Rates are $135.00 a night and after you make your reservation she'll transfer you to the store so you can rent a slip. It's easy peasy and a fun event, we'll see you out there. Looks good as of now as far as openings, book now.

Did this run a few times but it’s been years back. Even did it in the rain one year. Always been an awesome group. Glad to see it on the calendar for you guys.
I can’t even say that I am gonna try to make the run this year as I have officially committed myself to be boatless this summer.

Is there a new plan? I remember you saying how great the boat was.

Reservations at Katherine’s Landing motel have been made. We are in the front building in one of the renovated rooms. Have a slip for both Friday and Saturday. Might have to do some night cruising.

They followed me from the guard shack to the launch ramp. Then when it became my turn they told me to pull to the side. We waited 25 minutes to get to the front of the line.

I had to show all coast guard documentation, proof I was insured, I almost felt harrassed. I am a younger guy so it seemed to me the ranger was just looking to give me shit for 30 minutes. The ranger even went on to say the letter was to small on the hailing port. So I showed him the document that says the proper size and got my tape measure out to show him it was correct.

After all of this they followed me to the parking lot and watched me park the trailer.

I don’t think I’ll be back there.

Easy solution. Launch out of Princess and cruise down for the start.

After my boat sold, I have been in a little holding pattern. Made a deposit on a new one but have not placed the order. The boat is built on paper, however if I push back later than June, I will end up with a ‘19 model instead of the ‘18. Not a big deal, but could cost slightly more. Just trying to be patient.

Really interested in this, I have a 250 eagle that has a 50 gallon tank. If I launch out of cottonwood will I make it without the use of oars?

You can always grab some fuel at Willow beach on the way back if you are nervous about it.

You will make it easily. I have 60 gallons in 496 Boat and made it from Katherine’s to Hoover and back on two full tanks (30 each). I could have gotten gas at cottonwood if I wanted to. I wouldn’t worry about it. You have willow and cottonwood for fuel

I burn between 50 and 55 gallons in my Laveycraft with 496Ho from Katherine’s. You should be fine from cottonwood.

made it up and back with 26ft, 8.2 ho with 1/4 tanks left

1/4 tank(s) left, plural being two tanks... So, let's do some math... I think you have 2 forty gallon tanks, you have a 1/4 left in each. Gives you 20 to spare... You started full with 80 gallons, you used 60 gallons of gas... Based on this, blowncommision is gonna run short.

Enjoy the ride, from cottonwood, you should be good. Pretty sure coolcruzin takes it all the way back to Katherine's

Looks like worst case I can get gas at willow beach to be safe, or have it nice and light to tow back to havasu. Either way looking forward to it
I’m like 90% sure if I took it easy I could make it there and back. Think I have 56 gallons. I usually run pretty hard though and always throw 40 bucks in at willow just to be safe. I don’t like to stress about things when I’m having a good time.

There have been quite a few loooky looos on this so i must quote the
Mayor of Mohave may he rip by stating the following
for the new zec---not one nor trying to be one, just helping
so people get the jist of the run =great time for all --slow fast and in between :D

"The 2018 Damn Dam Run Executive Committee is pleased to announce the date for this year's event has been set in stone (well, maybe in quick-sand).

Gather up your calendars and mark them all for August 11, 2018. 10:00am at the bouys at Katherine's Landing, 11:00am at the bouys at Cottonwood Cove (this group outta be on the water and ready by 10:30am just in case).

Then uplake with a couple of stops along the way (Zec Com will not announce these stops.....you're on your own to figure out when a buncha boats stop and raft up for a break).

As in the past, the 'Zec Com takes no responsibilites for shirts, drinks, meals, drinks, reservations, drinks, moorage, drinks, BBQ's, drinks, oversleeping captains, drinks, ice, drinks, sunburns, drinks, bad attitudes, drinks, sinkings, drinks, launch ramp lines, drinks or drinks.

A Damn Dam Run sign up thread will follow when the 'Zec Com deems necessary.

That is all........"

Some bring kids or pets. It depends on your crew. It's a lot of water to cover in one day. The breaks aren't very long usually.

Same, I wasn't sure if I would have time to gas up and keep with the pack.

Willow is a no wake zone and we usually float through there. Usually plenty of time. Even if you fall behind a little we float at the dam for some time while everyone arrives. Then it’s leave whenever you feel like it and we usually beach up for lunch across from cotton wood

We bring our son. Last year my brother brought all 5 of his kids. All the kids had a blast. My son has fallen asleep on the rear bench through the basin on the way back the last 2 years.

When I did it last year. We left the bouys at Katherine’s at 10:45 I think, just behind the group. We stoped a few time and floated, ate lunch, and floated a few more times on the way back. We got off the water at 6:00 pm or so. It was a full day and a blast! Can’t wait for this year

I have it down as around 66 miles. So with a few stops it usually takes us 2 or 2 and a half hours to get there

Thanks. Might look into making this trip. Buddy just asked about doing it and I remember seeing the trip last year. Never been to lake Mohave before.

It’s worth it to go. For us it was an all day adventure there and back. Prolly 3 1/2 there and 3 back plus stops for lunch. We cruised at 35-40 the whole way.

Out of all the trips I did last summer my wife and I loved this one the best. We had the best day on the water.

If so my kids start 1st grade that week and my wife said she won’t pull them that Friday. Damn. Will have to look for plan B.

8/11 is a Saturday

I know but trying to get twin 6 year old moving that early to be on the water is tough. I would rather launch Friday, put the boat in a slip and move my shit show to the docks that morning than trying to launch in the morning.

Tell her it's an educational field trip to Hoover dam...

I’ll try that when I get home. Might work with the teacher. I’m sure a report might be needed when the kids return. Then the wife will hate me even more cause she would have to write 2 reports. Lol.

You guys going?

Make sure you don't tell her it was my idea... She still likes me as of now. [emoji41]

Not sure if we are going yet. We are looking at it though.
