2018 damn dam run

well I know it’s still a ways out, but honestly this year is flying and I know it will be here before I blink. This isn’t an official thread, just a feeler. Last year a couple guys said they wanted to take the lead, so by all means please feel free. If not, I had tossed out a date in roger that’s thread. It seems second week of aug is the normal date so aug 11. Wanted to get a thread started early so if people wanted to set up a bbq or t shirts or whatever there’s plenty of time.this is my favorite trip of the year so I’m really looking forward to another year.

Yep, then all the way to Hoover and back. I did it in my 23ft ultra easily. Was on fumes with gas tho lol.

I did get hassled at Katherine landing for 30 minutes from the rangers. If I do it this year I’ll avoid Katherine’s landing because the rangers made it clear to me they don’t like bigger boats or US coast guard documented boats.

Cottonwood is a great place to Launch. No lines in or out.

FYI, I launch from Katherine’s all the time and never been hassled over size. I am not coast gaurd documented though.

I was just telling my buddies “hey, remember the dude in the orange Cobra at the gas dock? He bought the boat” haha... maybe you’ll have bigger balls than me and run all the way from Kathrines. Lol

I've done this run many years in my 35' which is CG documented and never gotten a second look at Katherine's Landing. What happened?

They followed me from the guard shack to the launch ramp. Then when it became my turn they told me to pull to the side. We waited 25 minutes to get to the front of the line.

I had to show all coast guard documentation, proof I was insured, I almost felt harrassed. I am a younger guy so it seemed to me the ranger was just looking to give me shit for 30 minutes. The ranger even went on to say the letter was to small on the hailing port. So I showed him the document that says the proper size and got my tape measure out to show him it was correct.

After all of this they followed me to the parking lot and watched me park the trailer.

I don’t think I’ll be back there.

Shit I forgot about the regatta, rooms will definitely be more expensive and tougher to get. I wouldn't feel comfortable with my sled in a casino parking lot (questionable anyways) with all the drunk floaters. I do believe the lake will have less assclowns on it. If the date holds it will make sense to get rooms at Katherine's Landing.

MooreMoney that was a real bummer that happened to you. I'm pretty sure the ranger had a case of little dick that day, between your boat and being youngsters ya fucked him up.. shouldn't be that way but...awesome you had everything in order...sucks you might not come back
